At last! Vesper says his 20th trial is the most difficult 20th trial he has done so far. And it seems so too. st.something-ST combo has always been very difficult for me.

I must say Vega seems REALLY great in this game. Am very excited.

for any sf4 vega player youre gonna have to kill a few habits, as always i could be wrong.

c.mk c.mp is a pretty worthless link b/c you can’t scarlet terror after it and it feels like a 2 framer at the most, probably 1 frame. considering his cr lp/mp links are like 3 frame links now theres absolutely no reason why you should be going for it imo, i would rather try to hit confirm off of the cr mk or go into a chain combo to launcher from it.

ex flying barcelona attack is a waste of meter, doing the mk, lk scarlet terror bnb combo does as much damage as an ex fba combo. i also do not think that it is meter efficient to do mk scarlet terror, cr mp/mk into ex fba.

cosmic heel does not feel as good to me, start up is way slower imo and i am not fishing with it at all. also its either a lot harder or impossible to corpse hop with cosmic heel on your opponents wakeup. that was a little trick i liked using, i dunno how many people actually implement that into their game anyway.

overall i think vega is definitely going to be viable in this game. better than any iteration he had in sf4.

Guys…i will probably have to wait a week or so to get my hands on the game (this things take longer to come out in my country )…i have a couple of doubts…1) how much is vega stamina?.. a guy posted a complete health list and vega is listed as having 950 (average is still 1000)…is this with the mask?..and does he still receive 10% extra damage without the mask?..by the way is mask throw in the game?..does vega still deals +10% extra damage when maskless?..

I don’t know if this is common knowledge but Vega’s j. lk crosses up in the corner. It does cross up outside of it…but the positioning is pretty strict.

IDK his stamina but it’s casually low. He still receives a damage boost without mask. You can manually remove the mask and claw (mask - ex removal)

o.O i’ll need to test this out, maybe they tampered with the hitbox so it can cross up now?

Thanks…i’ve been wondering for a while if vega will still have that…i mean with the gems sistem mask removal may actually be an interesting option…maskless vega + damage boost gem…20% extra damage?..and you can use one of those green gems to help you absorve the extra damage…and meter building gem to recover faster the expended meter bar

So far I’ve only tried it on Julia, Juri and I think one of the other mid-size male characters and it definitely crosses up in the corner. I find it the most easiest to cross up Julia at about a mid range jump outside of the corner…Hugo seems different though. You guys should play around with that since I suck at enhancing stuff lol

EDIT: j. mk works in a similar way…same weird positioning outside of the corner but crosses up in the corner.

Doesn’t this take you guys back to the days of SF4 Vanilla? How doesn’t it . Im still debating wheter or not to purchase this game, especially considering how Capcom is a dirty Sanchez.

J. hp works on some characters and almost always on a crouching. the timing is weird though you have to do it a tad bit early for it to work.

I just bought the game now. I also read all the frame data on Vega’s moves in the strat guide. I’ll list some important frame data here:

  1. cl mk is now +6 on hit and +2 on BLOCK! This is his only move that is +2 on block!

  2. cr lk, cr lp, st lk, cr mk (startup is still 6!), are all +5 on hit, and +1 on block.

  3. POM is 22 startup, BUT is +4 on hit and +0 on block!

  4. lp RCF is -1 on hit and -3 on block. Mp RCF is +1 on hit and -5 on block. HP RCF is +4 on hit but -7 on block. EX RCF is +8 on hit and +3 on block! Mp/HP/EX RCF all have 22 startup iirc.

  5. CH is -4 on block so it is useless outside of combos, and it does not hit low.

  6. Jf HP is now 6 frames which is the same as JF HK!

  7. LK/MK ST is 8 frames. HK is 5 frames. EX is 6 frames.

  8. St HP and St HK and cr HP are still - on hit and block.

  9. All his throws are 7 frame startup including air throw. Izuna drop is 1 frame startup and 2 active frames iirc (or it was the other way around, but I believe this is correct).

  10. Oh I almost forgot forward dash is 19 frames and backdash is 22 frames. Jump was like 34 (or 33) frames iirc.

Tell me this game is not running 60 fr. per sec.! What are these? Jokes? 8 fr. start-up anti-air? 7 fr. start-up NORMAL grab? Hugo will jump and land back until my lp ST starts up?!

But if this is the case, I guess Ryu’s srk isn’t the same 3 fr. start-up- invincible framed bullshit. Cause that would be outright cheating. And all must have 7 fr. normal grabs I guess?

You’re my hero, I feel that way toward those types of players as well. I’ve been with Vega since Vanilla Street Fighter IV because he was one of the few Street Fighter characters that peaked my interest and because I like those hard to use characters. I hate it when players just pick characters because they’re easy to use and easy to win with. I once fought a guy in SSFIV that used Rufus that was destroying the room, I found out that he just plain hates everything about Rufus but he uses him just because he’s easy to use and he also began to start yapping about that “Playing To Win” book crap. I just HATE those type of people.
