I just once have seen it used as an anti-air against someone’s dive kicks and didn’t even trade, just cut through the dive kick. Never seen such a thing again though. It can be among those Canada Cup matches of Jozhear against Rufus, cause it was a short time ago.
Interesting, it always seemed too slow to stuff properly placed/stepping straight on your toes divekicks. I’ll give it a test.

Well five more days. I really miss Vega. T_T Been playing nothing but BB, GG, and MK ever since I dropped the game.
I’ve been enjoying BB and KOFXIII way more than SF lately. Going back to it yesterday at a friends house made me realize how ridiculously rusty I’ve gotten. At least in those games I can do some hilariously fancy combos.

Team Hori hasn’t posted anything since June. Tatsu’s Team Hori teammate hasn’t posted on Twitter since August either and I haven’t really seen him play since either. It’s kind of weird. Only Andy OCR still seems to be playing/posting of the Hori crew.

Yeah with Makoto back on the scene I’d love to see Tatsu bust some heads in too. I remember watching an interview where he said he was pleased with the AE buffs/nerfs, I wonder how he feels about 2012?
Anyway, good to know he didn’t switch up. He might’ve dropped the game but at least he didn’t abandon ship character-wise.
I’m pretty sure he’d heavily approve of the 2012 changes since he seemed very happy about the frame changes that were applied to cr. mk.
So I think it only makes sense that having that great move still intact plus additional positive changes/buffs just means a better Vega overall.

Alright, folks. I only was able to test a few things out before, during and after the tourney and here are my impressions of Vega’s buffs.
Giving him back his original sweep damage from Vanilla I think makes a HUGE difference in 2012 since he basically got the damage he did back in Super that was nerfed in AE, namely his cr. mp and cr. mk. I was able to to get a lot of counter hit sweeps on people and the damage added up quick, It definitely helped in my match against F. Champ when I caught Sim’s limbs with counter hit sweep (btw I considered Champ to be my wall in trying to become better at this game so I was ecstatic when I finally beat him in tourney for the first time in 2 years! :D)
The knockdown from his Sky High Claw is cool, but I don’t think I’m ever going to land it on a smart opponent during a tourney. Plus, they can quick get-up from it so I’m not sure if there any viable mix-ups after the knockdown whether they quick get-up or not. I will test more once it comes out on console or if I go to Southtown again before then.
I tried testing his CH>U1 in training mode after the tourney, but I wasn’t able to pull it off at all. It must be tough to do and it might be impractical, but I’ll kepe trying again once the update hits. I also tried lk ST>U1 (Vegaman asked me to test this) and I can confirm it doesn’t work whether the opponent is standing or neutral jumping.
Overall, I feel like Vega is really solid and he almost feels like Super Vega again…almost lol. I dunno maybe it’s just me wanting to believe Uryo’s tier list! He felt right to me this past weekend though.
