fei and akuma got nerfed…it was already posible to punish fei’s rekkas now it will be easier…vega will become one of Fei’s harder match ups
SHC is not useless. it is a good mix up when your opponent are jumping back to punish your wall dive if you are going towards them, this move only works if you know when to use it. like in a previous post, this move is at its better air-to-air, not on grounded opponents so that will make them think twice about jump fierce/medium hitting vega out of his wall dive. an inv. ST would be a bit too much, yes of course it would help relieve pressure against his harder matchups but if you look at his better matchups those would be much much tougher for the other characters. its for the sake of balance.
Dont get me wrong, i would love a inv. ST but hey, most of us played vega back in vanilla and if you stuck wit him them why give up now? with these buffs would you say he is weaker, same or better than his super counterpart?
and if anybody already talked about what i said my bad since i skipped some posts =/
It will depend on how much diference that aditional block stun in ch does…a safer CH combined with the superior pokes of AE’s cmk would make Vega stronger than ever even with AE’s current damage out put…and i still hold some mild hope that SHC would turn out to be safer on block…that would make wall dive a real mix up people won’t know what to do when they see you going to the wall…of course is always safer go for shc when you see someone jumping with good reaccion you can wall dive away from the jump in and come back SCH…if it was safer on block…that would give you one more choice againts jump in…
if it scores a knockdown it’ll be somewhat useful kinda sorta. If it breaks armor then it’ll actually be useful.
that’s still only good for 1 exchange per match because it’s so easily avoided because it’s so well telegraphed. It’s “designed” as an anti air but, it’s crap. Unless you can actually adjust the wall height from anywhere on the screen and speed the fuck up out of it’s startup it’s not going to useful at all for jump ins. Being safer on “block” doesnt make it better against jump ins either because you cant block while jumping.
i can almost guarentee you that half the cast will still be able to punish it.
Yeah i know…SCH needed better start up, better recovery, better block stun, better hit stun, better hit box ( claw’s SCH lose againts T HAWK flying chest attack (Tomahawk or something), claw againts chest…and the chest wins)…armor brake…the list goes on and on…probably only time the move was ever decent was in sfa3…i just can’t believe they would give such and useless buff…and even mention it twice on their blog…people said the ex-rcf buff in ae was useles… but at least IF you mange to get that combo in…you can get up to 463 dmg and around 530 stun (mask less and with the claw on)…i keep hoping there is something more to this SCH buff…
I have said it 1000 times but, sf4 vega would be veeery boring with an invul scarlet.
No move that Vega has in his arsenal is “useless”. Its just some you will you over ten times in one match and others you will only use once out of ten matches. I would love it if SHC dropped opponents, even if its a techable knockdown. Everytime an opponent falls and Vega is on his feet, its a positive thing. What is going to make or break this thing is how much the -11 or whatevr it is on hit will ultimately affect this. Because a techable KD along with -11 on possible KD might be hard to work with. I imagine you’ll still have time walk/jump back or jump over the opponent though if he techs the knockdown. Like I said not completly useless, but not something you’d use frequently.
i would say normal SHC is pretty useless at the moment. At least EX has projectile invincibilty after you hit the wall
Common Rabbi be realistic…when is the last time you’ve used or seen someone use PPP flips, SHC or mask throw is a tournament. We all know what we signed up for when we picked vega but pretending things arent what they are is just counter productive. Im gonna continue bitching until December, then will be the time for being satisfied.
After playing the game for a year or so and been told numerous times that i’m wrong i still swear that PPP cancels into U2 and ST…i know my flips recovery frames…if you have some space PPP may be relatively safe alowing to move while charging and get closer to the wall…(for faster walldive)…but i know that is another of many vega moves that need a lot of work put in to them to become decent…at least less recovery…
I go away from the boards for a while, I come back to see the reaction to the loc tests and I see that it has not changed. Thanks Jozhear for being one of the few voices of reason. At higher level play, it is pretty rare that a stupid jump in happens. When it does Vega has the tools to deal with it. Even if ST had i frames, Vega would fall victim to safe jumps and ambiguous cross ups, just like the rest of the cast. A major reason that Ryu’s anti airs are so effective is because he makes people jump because they can’t deal with his zoning, same with Sim. Vega does not have their zoning options, so people do not have jump in on him stupidly.
when normals are used in the right way, it makes opponents jump.
Vega has a great zoning game. People would/do get frustrated and would/do jump in on him. And even at higher level play, (where a lot of unsafe jump-ins do not happen that often) the I-Frames would still be good for deterent reasons. A lot of people have differing opinions on this matter but the one thing we can’t argue about is that,as of now, it isnt necessary to “safe jump” Vega because the man has jack shit on wake-up.(Aside from that sub-par ultra which is better for FA crumbles). You dont gotta be “safe” when jumping in on us, bottom line. No risk, huge reward. I can deal with safe-jumps, however, unending pressure from cross-ups, OS, and actual wake-up jump-ins is another thing. If giving Claw I-F on EX ST did nothing except force people to actually safe jump us instead of the blitz they put on us now then thats a good thing!! I dont care if we actually land the damn thing I just want the deterent factor there.
But Im just saying all this for the sake of the point. I know we’ll never get it and I’m cool with that (lol can you see through my terrible lying?) but someone saying it flat out wouldnt help is dead wrong.
It often doesn’t matter for Vega if it’s a stupid jump in or not. He usually can’t punish it, especially if their arc is landing at his head and not his chest or legs. Stupid jump ins rarely happen at high levels in OTHER matchups; people know they can get away with them against Vega and make his life miserable.
makes a note to use all 3 in his next stream station appearance
if you think this is bad you should see the yun boards… and the changes havnt even been posted yet
I was talking console release obviously.
It’s still not four years either…point?
The only change I see that is not needed is the SHC since I’m willing to bet that it is still punishable and its pretty much useless anyway (unless they make it uber fast and safe on hit). So rather than this useless buff, I rather see another one. But knowing Capcom, they probably won’t do it. I’ll still be praying for EX RCF–>FADC–>U2
CH -3 at worst is a step in the right direction. Meaning tip point is +1. Congrats Capcom you’ve done something right.
Regarding people wanting invincibility frames…Go play someone else. Vega needs to be played smart not spamming invincibility frames. He has the tools for every situation but needs to be precise. If you want a easy character pick Yun.
I think if Vega has just a bit more he would win huge tourneys. Granted it won’t be easy but atleast he would have a chance. All he needs is a combo string that does 400+. I’ve asked this before and I’ll ask again… Please change U2 into 7 frames but do 400 damage, EX RCF +5 on hit, front dash -1 recovery.
we are in the vega forums aren’t we? we all want to play vega here. how can we even spam an ex ST? think about it…how can we even spam that? it’s not like Vega needs meter to maximize his punishes…oh wait he does.
Looking at the new updates and buffs that Cody + Guy, Ken are getting is making me rethink whether Vega’s buffs are even half decent…
Dude, don’t…just don’t. Do yourself a favor, Tiger Claw, and don’t try to get a rational response from these “switch characters” type of people There is no reasoning with them.
They see the posts from Joz or Pedo, both good players who actually have a legitimate issue with I-F EX ST, and want to feel like they share the same type of instinct/playstyle, so they’ll bandwagon with them in an attempt to get brownie points. Please excuse my tone but I am sick of all this, “switch to an easier character” type of shit. How about you grow a brain (and a pair) and stand on your own two. Construct a valid, reasonable post on why you think what you think, dont just parrot the “switch character” bullshit. And no Vega does not have tools to deal with “every situation”, this is ignorance at its peak. Precise or not, very few characters have the ability to deal with everything, and Vega is lightyears from them.
