Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Also for the df HK to ST link, anyone know if it is easier to do with a sanwa stick vs american competition stick.

If you mean square gate vs octo gate then yes It is easier with square gate, but by no means do I think that is a good reason to pitch in the money. Its more or less your personal timing just be quick at getting the charge for ST and it shouldn’t matter as long as your execution is right.

No I get it almost 100% offline or online
and no, it’s not characterspecific. what rooster said

The trick with st.rh -> ST is to be patient. Don’t do it too early, you have to throw out the ST right before your opponent hits the ground.

Also, I’m trying to incorporate FA into my game a lot more. I’ve really only had success using it against Chun’s poke-game, and as a way to dash out of crossup attempts. Anyone have a lot of success with this thing? The FA-tap counterhit crumple looks like an amazing tool, but shit, I have the worst luck with this thing. I though Vega’s FA was one of the better ones in the game.

Sorry, SixColt, that’s not true. If you charge downback fast enough it almost looks like you can ST immediately after the df.hk

Fa counterhit works reeeaaaaallly well on dics j.hp

My bad, that’s how I’ve gotten used to doing it. I could never seem to get it off if I tried hitting the ST early. I’ll give a shot in the ol trainin room.

is df HK and Scarlet Terror useful when df HK is blocked?

I mean, when df HK is blocked, i usually go for throw or jump back HP because i think i will be beaten if i try anything else… (i’ve been thrown or shoryuken’d from this move on block a lot)

Another thing I forgot: It IS dependent on how you hit your opponent with it. If you hit him wih the peak of it, you have more time to charge, letting you almost connect the ST immediately afterwards. However if you’re really close to the opponent and do df.hk, the time you have to charge the move is less.

I saw Tatsu made it to the semi-finals at least (before the brackets stopped updating). Any word (from the man himself?) as to how it all went? Repping Vega all the way?

Yeah I noticed he came out of pool 4 in the qualifiers, in the winners bracket no less. I don’t think any of his matches were on the big screen, I didn’t hear anything about him, or vega, after seeing that update.

Would love some info/vids

Hey, so for whatever reason i’ve been having problems with doing Vega’s EX-Flying barcelona attack into his izuna drop.

it’s not exactly the izuna drop i have troubles with, it’s just getting the EX-barcelona to go to the opponents wall, versus the wall that’s directly behind me. I’ve tried charging from down left, down, and down right, even going to up left, up, and up right, but the only time it will ever go to their wall is when i have them in a corner and the opposing wall is closer than the one behind me.

For the record, i have a SF4 SE edition fight stick and haven’t had any troubles with it at all.

Help greatly appreciated, it sucks not being able to incorporate this move into my play-style lol.

down (charge) -> upforward or upbackward, depending on what wall you like to go. So if you’re on the left and you’d like to fly to the right wall, use upforward, if you’re on the right vice versa.

You have to hold the direction you want to go in for a bit. Hold down, then hit (and hold) up/forward and hit a kick. You’ll go to the opposing wall.

Kay another question, and i hope people can help me with my pain… Its the Ultra. It sounds simple, and when i get it it even feels simple. But i cant get it work concistenly.

So, the last input, the UF, can also be UB, to clarify which wall you want to jump to, right?

So, doing a db,df,db,ub motion doesnt work at all, it just works 50% the time when i let the stick to a neutral position after the charge. Is there any shortcut or obvious thing im missing? I cant count how many Ultras i whiffed in dire situations.

I used to have this problem. I feel that in the
db,df,db,ub
if you hold it at the db,df,db,ub for a SHORT moment before going to ub, it should come out better.
If you’re using a stick, you want to move the stick all the way to the corner, instead of trying to go around it with a round motion.

I had huge problems with the ultra, but now i don’t stop in the ub direction, i move all the way to the up, and ultra is really easier now.

It seems that if when i try to end with ub+kkk, a lot of times the game get my kkk input in the b instead of the ub, and doing b+kkk a kkk flip comes out instead of an ultra. Now that i end the motion in up, chances are that the game just get the kkk input in the ub, or in the u, and ultra happens anyway (and in the right wall i must add, i don’t know why)

I posted it in other thread

[quote=ElMouchoLoco;7132641Today i ended the move with UP, i end my finger in the up direction instead of the upback, and in input data shown in practice mode it counts as up+kkk, but the ultra just pops up anyway.

I now charge :db: and :d: :df: :d: :db: :l: :ub: :u: + :3k:

My Vega suddenly shines in beauty as the blood covers my claw, mwahahahahaha[/quote]

Oh the mysteries of Vega’s ultra. It’s so useless and yet everyone has a different way of doing it.

Maybe it is useless at a certain level of play, but it pwns projectile throwers for me consistently. Also works wonders as a counter to a flowchart Ken waking up.

no offense or anything, but if you’re playing flowchart kens and people that projectile spam when you have ultra, this certain level of play your suggesting his ultra is viable at isn’t very high.

I think the only real way to land his ultra outside of anticipating a jump or move/bullshit/pure luck is off a focus stun.

all i know is that its great AA or a punisher that all you need it for.
