Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

That’s what I’ve been using. I was just wondering if I should switch.

ok sombody plaease tell me…i was under the impression that the only way to combo the ST is to use lk followed by EX…is ther any other combinations? depending on screen position maybe?

If you hit someone high off a jump in you can double ST without using EX

both hk versions?

Any version of the first ST will work if it hits high enough, then HK for the second hit. You can do other versions of the second one but HK will hit most consistantly. I’ve got anti-air LK ST -> LK ST to work in training mode, but it’s not worth it in real matches because the second LK ST will almost certainly miss.

That said, anti-air HK ST -> HK ST is the one that works best in matches. You’ll get two hits and it’s a little less damaging than connecting both hits of a regular HK ST. This will only work if you hit your opponent near the peak of their jump and only manage to connect one hit on the first ST.

good to know!

It won’t combo though if the first one hits twice though. I’m not exactly sure why, but…

My first question:
Why? lol
Why does that happen?

Does wall dive jab have better recovery than wall dive fierce? Fierce does more damage, so I presumed the jab version has got to have some advantage over the Fierce version.

Rizhall…I dunno man. I just don;t know.
I will say that i fell in love when i first say the ex wall dive into izuna drop. IT NEVER GETS OLD lol

Exactly the same recovery.
Unfortunately. That would be too fair for Vega. We can’t have that now, can we? =P

How are you guys landing df.HK? No surprise here, but a majority of the casuals at my arcade pick Ryu, Ken, and Zangief. I play all three similarly, which is once knocked down, I keep them within my cr.mp range and basically force them into a sitting game where i have an answer for anything they do, except backdash maybe, but that pushes them into the corner, where I actually think vega’s corner game is pretty solid. However, the only way I ever land df.HK is if I whiff a poke and they try to counter poke or something. Do you guys have any set ups or ways of landing it better?

I like to get a little offensive on my rush-down out of nowhere, and then suddenly backdash out of there, hoping the opponent tries to reversal out of it, with an upper or something else, and i’ll nail my dfHK. Even if they don’t counter it though, you’re still at a frame advantage and can mix up your offense before they can properly counter.

It’s not a plan I sat down and thought up, I just started doing it naturally, but only put it down because I actually had to think about how I landed it often, and that’s what I’ve come up with, based on how I currently play. =P

I wouldn’t ever use it on Zangief its not safe enough on block you will get SPD’d. ON ryu and ken i would only use df.hk after a wiffed srk other than that stick to pokes my friend. It is to easily DP’d for the far distance and up close it can get poked out of.

It’s actually a “not so bad” tool Vs Gief if not used often. I use it to quickly close distance and throw or jump back HP. Giefs expect Vega to stay at mid/long distance and poke. If you’re at a certain distance df+hk whiffs and it can surprises opponents

im going to the ranbat tomorrow. gunna be destroyed

Oh shi-
good luck. Give em hell. Show them the true beauty of Vega!
Or die trying.

What’s the best option to do on sagat’s wake up? Will a meaty c.mp on sagat’s wakeup trade with a tiger upper or will it be beat? I never really know what to do on sagat’s wake up. I know it’s supposed to be more of a poke-and-run match, but I don’t want to back off and give him room to breathe, but then again one tiger uppercut is all it takes.

^ I would think you would eat the tiger upper clean. Besides trading on a tiger upper is just bad news for Vega, especially when you factor in how much a c.mp will do to him. I would try to bait something outta Sagat and punish accordingly or set up for a grab. It all depends on how the Sagat is playing.

I think a well-timed jump back HP beats TU clean (not ex though). Atleast that’s been my experience with it.

I’ll mess around with that. I know that a jump in early RH will stuff his st.HK nonsense.
