Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

I saw in an youtube that he loses defense also when the claw comes off.

That should not be correct. Will test and edit post.

EDIT - Ryu’s super does 300 damage when the claw is on and off. In that video, Vega probably lost his mask somewhere along the way.

I was just reminded of how much I hate the mask. I was fighting a runaway Akuma, and I had him almost dead, I was at about 75% health, and he caught me with a Raging Demon because I got careless/bored. My mask came off mid-way through the Demon, and I got KO’d… from 75% health. :frowning:

Losing the range of our pokes from the claw drop should’ve been enough imo. Taking extra damage and suffering a damage loss from this crap is what’s keeping Vega down :stuck_out_tongue:

I know. It’s completely pointless for him to still be losing his mask and claw. Why should I have to worry about how much I block when nobody else has to?

I really hope they change that in the future games, but I know they won’t. It’s tradition now.

Yup Yup. Losing the mask and claw are just part of Vega’s character. It honestly never even bothered me that much. Looking at it from an outsiders perspective it is a bit stupid (losing equipment), but for better or worse, it’s part of what Vega is known for.

Just a quick question, what does fadc stand for? >_>

When you are fighting and you get a chance to either cr.MP–> EX FBA or cr.MK–> EX FBA, which is better to use?

Is one easier to link than the other?

I have no problem linking df. HK–> EX FBA (Anyone can do that) but while I’m fighting and poking with cr.MP I haven’t been linking it to EX FBA and I know I should start practicing that because all the Vega experts use it. However, I also hear them mention cr.MK into EX FBA as well.

Is either one better?

I tend to poke a lot with the cr.MP because of it’s range so I get it to hit quite often. On the other hand, I barely ever use cr.MK because it doesn’t seem like it’s as useful. Should I start using it?

For example, I always use cr.mk after a whiffed shoto hard kick, then link into RCF or EX Walldive. The thing is, cr.mp comes out faster than the launcher, so it’s pretty good to punish attacks that have little recovery. If you’re close to the opponent, cr.lp -> cr.mp -> EX Walldive is a good option.

I always use cr.mk when I cross the opponent up on the ground.
Linking cr.mp into FBA always scares me because I’m never 100% sure if the Walldive will actually hit the opponent. It’s all about how tall and how far away he is. Cr.mk on the other hand hits almost every time, the range is significantly smaller though.

Hmm, alright. Thanks.

Off to Training mode to play around with that information

crMPxxEX FBA isn’t a link, it’s a cancel… meaning you don’t have to wait for the animation of the MP to finish to do the special, you can do it immediately after it hits.

But note: it doesn’t work on all characters.

It’s also possible to do
crMK, crMPxxEX FBA
it requires some timing, so you gotta practice it. I’ve been trying to get this into my game lately.

Uh, sorry. Well then it’s a cancel.
You should really see that master guide for more tips on pokes and cancels.

Anyone ever find themselves “playing vega” through other characters? I don’t know if its just bad habit, muscle memory, or lack of concentration. I will constantly catch myself trying to KKK back flip through things or crouching with shoto characters. It usually isn’t to bad when i decide to play Balrog, but when i play Rufus or Abel i catch myself making stupid mistakes or in other words playing like Vega.

Any tips or routines you guys might do? I know paying more attention and concentrating is an obvious answer, but i already do that. It is when i get in the pressure situations that my mind seems to revert back to what i do as Vega lol. :shake:

i dont know if theres a way around that… i started maining seth and geif and i swear sometimes i will charge db and press up kick and eat a shoryuken. i would try hypnosis because thats what im doing

Same as above.

Here’s a question: What’s the deal when, I cancel c.mp into M. RCF, the whole thing hits clean, yet in the middle of the RCF (where the Ken player is still being HIT by it, btw) my opponent can mash out a fierce shoryu, combo into Ken’s super?! I’m asking because that’s how I just lost in championship mode, and I’m pissed as fuck. I generally don’t complain when I lose, as I realize it was my fault for making mistakes, but this particular instance seems nonsensical to me. Maybe I’m missing something.

Didn’t you read my thread on Vega RCF?

MP RCF is the worst. Never use it.

If you must chip, LP HP or EX will do.

EDIT: Wait, he actually hit you out of it when he’s in HIT-STUN? Are you serious? I thought natural combos cannot be broken out of. This is not good at all…

That was what I got from it. Ken mashed out a DP while in hit stun…it might have been the moment right before the claw hits too…which would explain it.

wow if this is the case then RCF isnt even usable in the shoto matchups. fuck that.

That’s what I was thinking, but Jesus that’s still a load of shit. I swear I was so pissed about that one instance I couldn’t think straight the rest of the day. I think I’m never going to use RCF against shoto’s again, just to be extra safe.
