Losing his mask and claw is just part of Vega’s game. You can pick them up in the middle of your PPP (fucking matrix style) and just have to keep an eye on it. Ultimately it’s just another thing for your enemy to think about, so it’s not so horrible. The mask is definitely a bad trade, but it could be worse, it could drop your defense and damage.
I have a few general questions after playing someone who is a few heads above me skill wise.
c. mp isn’t as spammable as bad players have led me to believe, right? I should really only be using this at range, and break out the jab otherwise, it seems like it gets beaten when I abuse it. What else should I be doing to punish?
That sweep is basically just asking for trouble closer than full range, right? At full range it’s safe at block, I think.
Can I BHC a blocked blanka ball? I thought I did it once, though it seems to get blocked from now on.
I see lots of RCF from lp in videos. Should this be a bigger part of my game for pressure? The only combo I even use is j. hp, c. mk, hk ST, because (and I know this sounds stupid) it’s labeled “bread and butter” in the combo thread, and well, I can do it.

Seriously, I don’t know what’s more disappointing all the people who counter pick him on me, or that I usually destroy their shitty counter play tactics.
So I’ve been using a lot more ST in my games, and shit, it’s actually really good. When I first picked up Vega I was using it like SRK/flashkick, but I’ve really got the ‘do-it-right-as-they-jump’ timing down lately, and this thing is great. I know you can link lkST into EXST, I’m pretty sure I"ve seen two non-ex ST’s linked though, which ones can you do that with?
I see a lot of Vegas use the HP Rolling Flash on their opponents wakeup, and the chip-damage seems pretty decent, sometimes they don’t even block it. This is probably not a good idea vs characters with a DP right?
you can link non ex ST to a normal ST on a hit trade
and yeah dont RCF a DP character or on wakeup, i dont RCF to much on wakeup any way as its very situational, you cant do it to characters with ultra and characters with teleports.
vega has better wakeup options like df. rh crossup into tick throw or combo
Yeah I always thought this was the case, but I see it used all the time in vids. I like the df.RH->lk->EX wall dive option better.
Probably a stupid question, but what exactly is the shortcut motion for Vega’s Ultra? I have alot of trouble pulling it off consistently in an actual match, and maybe knowing how to do the shortcut would help.

Question for you pros;
After you block something, do you start poking with cr.mp? or cr.jab into cr.mp? It’s hard to tell sometimes from these videos, and my cr.mp def gets stuffed often.
You can link short Scarlet to Forward/RH Scarlet if the short is an anti air.
Not an overall Vega question, but i didn’t want to make a thread about it. I have won three or four “tournaments” and i’ve never been given the option of saving my match replay
I know the Update Info in the Options menu says something about needed 5,000 CP to do it, but i’ve seen people with less than that and they still have the option of saving it
Just a quick question:
Does the damage output depend on the button pressed for the SHC, FBA or Izuna?
e.g., Is the damage for LK FBA, LP Izuna the same as HK FBA, HP Izuna?

Can anybody explain CP to me? I thought they were only needed to get faster to the last round, but it seems there is a ranking based on CP Points. I don’t get it. Don’t they get deleted once you’ve won a “tourney”?
I know that the claw attack from FBA has it’s damage affected by which kick you use to get the wall dive off. It’s 70/80/90 damage based on the kick from the walldive, not the punch used in air, which I thought was strange. I’m pretty sure Izuna Drop is the same though.
And for SHC I think the damage stays the same, but the punch pressed changes the height of the SHC. FP being the lowest I believe, and lp being the highest.
I know Vega loses 25% of his defense when his mask is off (and also gains a measly 10% damage increase in return) but do you lose anything when the claw comes off besides the extra reach? Is there a damage reduction as well?
Punch normals and punch specials receive a damage decrease - kick normals and ST are unaffected. I did not test Izuna drop.
