Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Been experimenting with Vega’s kara throw…it has the weirdest animation of all kara throws imo…it kinda make him disappear for a couple of tenth of a second and reappear half a character distance in front…But ne way, its quite useful…I think Bebop said that it can be used as a ghetto/hardcore AA and so far I have only found that it can be used to somewhat punish lazy jump ins (when they dont time it to hit deep enuff) and it kinda saves u from the hassle of moving forward to throw only to eat low pokes…

Beyond that, can sum1 explain the use of his kara throw as an anti air? my theory is to back dash opp lands/misses a jump in…boom kara throw…is that the case?

Search isn’t working, where can I find Vega’s Kara throw command? is it HK?

Is there a trick to getting the slam after going off the wall? I had no problems in any previous game but in this one half the time I just slash and half the time I land next to them without attacking and get seriously punished.

I also had two games where I tried for the whole damn game to ultra and he would just jump. I assumed I was screwing up and doing something wrong and went to training mode and did it first try (and every try after). Is this possibly lag in that match keeping me from doing the move?

Having the exact same problem. The timing is really tough because hitboxes are not very big. I’ve kinda given up on it and just use it to crossup slash.

When you’re in a match you’ll naturally rush the move faster and fuck it up. I do it all the time. Once you actually take your time it comes out nicely.

Is Vega’s ultra: hold db, df, db, up KKK? Also is there a way to perform the Ultra easier? I.e. ending with a sort of QCF to the up direction, instead of just hitting up? All tips and help really appreciated.

LOL what?? Im having no problems whatsoever with his ultra. And it rapes those fireball whores for free.

db, df, db then uf will make you go to the opposing wall, while finishing with ub (up-back) will make you go to your wall.

It’s so sweet to punish random jump-ins and fireballs, but good players aren’t going to sit around shooting fireballs at a half-dead Vega with an ultra. They’re going to go town on him, so good luck connecting with that shit when you’re getting pounded in a corner.

Its also easy to punish with it when ppl whiff attacks period. You just have to be on point is all. I have no problems with the ultra. That said, you shouldnt be relying on his ultra if you are being rushed in the corner anyway as he has better/safer options than his ultra while in that situation anyway. There are a few nice set-ups he has for his ultra tho.


Seriously tho some of you guys complain way too much. Complaining about his ultra?? I mean, theres only a few characters imo who have good ultras anyway.

It’s true, I actually use Vega’s ultra more than a lot of others’.

4realz though I will put up the way I think vega should be played in this game, ( or rather what is pretty good for me thus far ) and I think it will be the way he is played over time… stay tuned…

Is there any possible way to combo Vega’s EX Scarlet Terror (Charge db, F+KK)?

If so, how?

yeah combo it off of df+RH. and i’m pretty sure you can combo it off low forward up close

on an unrelated note i found something cool with vega and his ultra

you can combo his ultra anywhere on screen with a level 2 or level 3 focus attack

for the level 3 FA you input the dash commands during a certain point in his focus animation where he wont dash **forward **until after he let’s loose with his claw. as soon as you input the dash you want to immediately charge downback. when the person falls on their knees complete the ultra motion. bang it combos

for the level 2 it’s a tad different if you have them totally in the corner you can dash **forward **and do the ultra and it’ll pick them up as they’re laying on the ground

but if you’re out of the corner you have to **back **dash and then do the ultra motion

anyway that is all i have

Got curious about the Vega Ultra: When your enemy is crouching and blocking (ie. at max range) and you hit him, does this count as an overhead and you get him in?

My friends complained about it when they got slashed up bad by it :slight_smile:

Is there any point to use his EX Claw Roll? It has the exact same frame work and damage as Claw Roll (HP).

I don’t think so, its not even useful for chip damage since you can use his normal Claw roll instead, my opinion: save the meter for EX Wall Dive or EX Pierce Claw

Yes indeed it does…but you must have amazing reflexes if you can see a fireball coming and manage to pull an EX Claw Roll, taking into account the slow startup. I would undestand if the opponent is right next to you and he throws a fireball, but then again who throws a fireball to an opponent who is in your face.

Besides there are other ways to punish fireballs like EX Pierce Claw, Ultra or a well timed jump. I stand by my last statement: EX Claw Roll has no use whatsoever unless someone can prove otherwise, I would be happy if someone proves me wrong cause I find the rest of his EX moves very useful and I want to find an use for all of them.

Why do ex claw roll while its safer and better to do EX pierce claw or the ultra??

Its an useless ex move from what i can tell.
