if you do it, its like a higher risk/reward normal walldive.
the range on the Super Izuna drop is pretty good. as good or even better than the EX version. (if hit on the way up though, that’d be something.)
I would say stick with Ex moves. it’s more practical.
you can only really possible if you back is right in front of the wall, but yeah When I have ultra, some time I get away to try to bait their fireballs, except for guile, his recovery on SB is too fast.
Yeah, especially the EX version. I actually find Guile to be an overall annoying match-up for Vega, but from the people I’ve played so far, I’m gonna give that number one annoying spot to Akuma =/
If you knock Zangief down and then do super so that you get to him just after he wakes up, I’m not sure what Gief can do to get out of it. So, it’s useful there at least.
Super is pretty weak is a reason why no one uses it.
I also want to call for a ban on THROWING OUT RANDOM ULTRA’S! It comes out amazingly fast, but damn, I have seen more Claw matches lost because someone wants to get cute with the Ultra then matches lost legitimately because of poor playing. Just watch Claw youtube videos and see how many people fuck up Ultra and end up eating tons of damage. Too many.
Also, I have been using Flip Kick a lot more, and winning a lot more. I used to not use it because it hits so late and too far in front to hit deep jump-ins, but I have been working on my spacing and keeping people out at flip kick distance with pokes, and the damage on flip-kick is no joke. Probably more damaging then EX wall dive to throw.
So my game plan to play a better claw is to focus more on flip-kicks, keep trying to find stronger normals (when to use them in different match-ups), stop throwing out Ultra, and whore the shit out of Down-Forward Roundhouse. I think his hopkick is going to be his saving grace.
I love how you can use his DF+HK as a kind of tick throw.
if you see a video of my playing you’d see me throw that kick a lot. It doesn’t seem like you can punish it.
I also agree about the ultra thing. I’m guilty of it myself. -_-
Also note that the Super FBA doesnt get all the hits if the opponent is on the ground.
Can someone explain how to flipkick Geif’s lariat?
Has anyone found a SAFE time to use HP Rolling Crystal Smash? This move is so easily jabbed out of it pains me to even think of using it.
Given that we’re going to need his cr.MK or cr.MP into the EX Barcelona, (and we need this A LOT) what is the best way to attempt to “build meter”? Given that we can’t sit back and turtle like Genei Jin Yun players and what not.
What seems to be Vega’s safe options on waking up? Given that he’s a charge character, a lot of people might expect him to be turtling on wake up and just throw him. After watching so many matches vs Gief, I’m gonna throw up if I see one more tick SPD.
Anyone experiment with his close HP and see what you can cancel into after the first hit?
How exactly can you tell that you’re in the correct range for Izuna Drop and not the Flying Barcelona Attack? Getting too close makes me feel like I’m going to land before I might even attack.
Piece of Mercury (df.MK) does NOT seem to have overhead properties here (WTF?). Anyone find a good way to deal with turtlers? Character-specific is fine if you don’t have one that works on everyone. I know shoto’s are a big deal with it comes to SRK’s out of a downback position.
I’m just trying to rally up all the Vega players to help establish him as a solid character before the game is officially released on consoles. I main Twelve in 3S and he pretty much got NO attention from the start, which is why most people today just bash on him being a joke character and such. I don’t want this happening to Vega, especially since he really IS a great threat to many other characters.
After dizzy if you really need meter is the only thing I could really see. I use LP ver. for poking at full screen, it has a really nice range. (if only his cr.HP was like that)
Doing fake wall dives is one small way I can build meter. It’s where when you jump off the wall, move toward that wall so that you land at the corner. Not the safest thing ever, but it’s something. general poking and stuff will get you what you need if you don’t burn meter.
3.Considering EX Flipkick is not too great, not too much. Besides Block\Jump, there is the backflip if you dont think they could really chase you to punish it. Against a gief, notice how fatr away he is when he throws the cr.LK if it’s SPD range, backflip, if it’s farther, block cause he’ll try lariat
4.I haven’t messed with it enough. only thing I’ve heard is cr.MP.
5.With the normal walldive it’s tough, try to think throw range, also you have noticibly more range with the EX dive. It’s something you just have to practice to learn.
6.df+MK is such a pointless move for that fact. Overall against people who turtle, throw is your best bet. You could use df+HK to tick throw. But another way is to wait, build meter, as Claw can wait and punish fireballs and stuff. I dont have too much exp. against the cast, so I can’t say much.
I think flip kick hits to late to beat lariat. You just have to sweep it. Be careful of sweeping to close because Claw doesn’t get low to the ground until partway into his sweep, and Lariat will still hit him. :arazz:
Looking at the frame data, hopkick is so good for tick throw because it puts the opponent in 17 frames of block stun and only has 14 frames of recovery. The only other normal that has that is his close hard punch, so that might be useful for tick throws as well.
Does anyone know how many points of super meter it takes to fill a super bar or do dizzy?
Alright, so it looks like Dizzy points do scale but only after the third hit.
I was asking about the flip kick cause it was mentioned earlier in the thread. I couldn’t find the exact post.
cr.LK -> Lariat on wakeup is annoying for me. since it’ll beat jumping.
Alright, I finally got down the correct timing for Izuna Drop. A lot of people at CTF didn’t want to play me anymore
Question, when you guys (if you guys) do Vega’s Izuna Drop Super, do you mash the punch buttons until you reach them, or does mashing not work? I’ve only been trying it by strict timing, but if mashing works then no reason not to just do that instead.
^^I think you have to be right above them or just touching their body(grab range). If you mash Claw will just do a slash in the air and you lose your meter.
Anyone can help me with Dictactor & Goki match ups?

I was playing a CTF today and those are what gave me the most trouble.
