Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

I thought all moves done as a reversal break armour?

Seriously? a;lsdfjka;sdlkfj this game drives me batshit.

So what determines a Reversal?

when you do a move the first frame you can possibly do it (after getting up or after being in block stun). that’s all a reversal is

And that automatically gives moves armor break, wtf

Allright, thanks o_O

That’s why I have trouble with Rolling. Alright that helps me a lot.

That would make a lot of sense. They should, so I am going to assume they do. I may have heard that somewhere else to.

r u sure the armor break occurred on the first hit of the roll…cuz armor only lasts for one hit and the roll is a multi-hitting move.

Yeah, it broke on the first hit. There was no absorb hit affect.

are you sure that you can flipkick Geif’s Lariat?
I was trying it last night and I couldnt get it.

Hey…um question because I haven’t played in a month or so. But i was looking back at one of the old match-up with Boxer, and I was wondering is it possible to maybe psychic grab him out of his dashing punches? It would seem stupid ask it. But I was curious. It looked he has a small lil opening before he throws the punch. Lol. Looked like you could do something in between it.

looking at the frame data it does seem possible. you just gotta be that close.
would you really risk it though? lol
i’d rather block or short backflip.

I mean if I’m forced to of course. Some boxer play knows how I play so I wanted to get him off guard with when I go to the next tourney.

I know what you mean. There’s a boxer playing I know that has an answer for everything I do.
I think Boxer is Claw’s hardest match, easily.

Yup. But really besides Boxer -_- I really don’t have trouble beating the other characters at all believe it or not. That’s why I put this on the holy jesus that Claw is not the worst character indeed I think he’s one of the better characters. He’s just not as he was in super turbo.

The only way I see a claw losing horribly is missing a combo or being rushdown. If he is not controlling space he loses plain and simple. ninja edit.

That is all, and he takes damage like a bitch in which this wednesday I will test to see if I can find some practicality in the claw throw in a bunch of matches not the mask throw. It might help in the long run to get over that glass chin. I think even him losing his claw is not as bad as losing his mask. It seems like the hitbox on his claw got pretty nerfed in this Street Fighter which is why I think he always gets out prioritized by other moves shit even normals. In ST his claw had mad hitbox priority.

The best help is experience so I think while experimenting I might get my ass handed to me a few times, but I know it has uses.

Never really played ST so I wouldnt really know anything really changed.
yeah. I’ve never really noticed a difference in dmg (there is one though) when I use the claw/mask throw, so I dont bother with it.
yeah its kinda hard for him to stop good pressure. maybe a lucky flip kick or a triangle jump to get him out of corners.

I hate that his Focus doesnt use his claw’s range. the hitbox is to the end of his hand. I lost my first match in the tourney cause of that fact. -_-
I also play a bit aggresive when I play as him.

AFAIK only certain moves get armor break when done as a reversal. Reversal Shoryuken has it, supposedly Boxer’s Dash Straight has it, and now we know Rolling Crystal flash gets armor break as a reversal.

And for future reference: Reversal - special or super move performed by the defending player on the first free frame following hit stun, block stun, knockdown, air reel, or throw tech (taken from http://www.sonichurricane.com/articles/sfterms.html).

It seems like the Master Guide says all Reversal specials can armor break.

So it looks like Claw’s nj.MK (Neutral Jumping, Forward Kick) is actually pretty good. I’ve been using it for zoning and to punish whiffed throws (nj.MK, c.LP xx EX Barcelona or EX Scarlet). Though, I don’t know which one does more damage, Scarlet Terror or Barcelona-Izuna.

For me, Claw’s worst matchups are: Blanka, Rufus, and Ken. Once you get used to teching Ken’s kara, it isn’t as bad, but still, you have to control ground like a fiend. Lots of Focus attacks will help though. Also, against shotos, you have to pay close attention to their meter to see if you can Focus-punish fireballs (if they have an EX stock, you might eat an EX Hadouken).

df+MK is the most useless move in the world.

EX Crunchyroll is surprisingly good vs fireballs, but goddamn I wish it attacked faster.

Airthrows do a LOT of damage.

I’m trying to practice Focus, backdash, Ultra… but jesus it’s hard. Anyone else pull it off consistently?

Is it possible to press roundhouse during the down-forward motion of the ultra, pop them into the air, and finish the rest of the motion to the nearest wall and have it juggle.

I haven’t spent anytime trying to really practice combo’s and see what links (no time really) but this idea has been killing me. I need sometime along fighting the AI to try and land this. Is it possible? Because it seems like a viable way to Juggle into Ultra.

Again, motion would be

Charge :db: > (:df: + :hk:) > :db: > :uf: > :lk::mk::hk:

it seems like you would push them when you jump to the wall and it would miss or you wouldnt even get to the wall at all.

I would say it is possible, but only if it hits as an anti air.
or if you trade on an EX walldive.

Hey, how come out of all the Vega videos on Youtube I’ve only seen one guy do his actual Super? Is the general consensus here that Vega is better off sticking to his Ultra and using his meter for EX moves, or are people just afraid that using his Super leaves him totally open to eat an AA move?
