Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

i went with bison…cuz his kicks just look perfect

technically when you do something in SF it usually considered that you have to have a reason as to why you did that move, in order for it to be considered a good move. So yeah. but you have to do so more here, especially since blanka has some strange traps. Its not hard, if your patient you are going to land something hard. Blanka can only hope to win in these 3 scenarios. He is banking that you push enough buttons so that you fall for his frame traps, crossovers, shenanigins, etc. Run the clock and hope that you dont have a solid ground game, which the majority of Vega players dont have because of thier reliance on cr.mp. or kill you with ambiguious cross up Ultra. In fact you hit harder than the green bastard can ever hope to. and once you start a smart calculated offense and corner him, Blanka has no answer to your pressure. Just like you have no real answer for Blanka’s offense, but to wait it out.

Fuck yeah, i’ve always despised that carrot top yoda bitch.

Vega players that even consider maining Chun Li should just chop their own claws off right now.

why the chun hate?

Because she’s a fat hooker with fake boobs, annoying voice, disgusting legs, and she killed my dog.
I just hate her as a character. I was just messing around when I said that.

I think it started here.

First min. Not work safe

Pedo;

I suggest Viper. I am currently learning Viper as my alt right now. She is very difficult to learn and very execution heavy, so you can’t just start with her and go straight into battles. You have to spend a lot of time in training mode just to start being effective.

But once you put the hours in training mode, you have a very flashy character that will confuse the hell out of players who haven’t taken the time to learn the match up. Also, you get a lot of respect for using someone that isn’t braindead easy, like Ryu, Ken, and Boxer.

I think the reward for learning her is just bigger than the reward is for learning the majority of the cast.

So, it’s been a while. I’m too lazy to check the thread for this info, so please forgive me if it’s a repost.

Note: I’m ignoring invincible reversal attacks, since it should be obvious that you play careful wake-up against a character with invincible reversal options.

Throw & RCF
Forward throw -> jab RCF
Possible answers
1) Block -> chip and meaty pressure
2) Hit -> damage and meaty pressure
3) Jump -> pursuit property finish with EX ST
4) Backdash -> normally safe on whiff; Hakan may be able to cancel back dash and punish; possibility to mix up
with strong/fierce RCF if opponent tries to dash back or focus the hit.
5) Counter Hit -> damage and +4/+5 frame advantage

Back throw -> fierce RCF
Possible answers
1) Block -> chip, meaty pressure and space gain
2) Hit -> dmg, meaty pressure and space gain
3) No jump possible
4) No back dash possible

Uses for CH -> slide
   Sets up neutral safe jump roundhouse -> close fierce xx strong RCF, which is now a viable block string.
   Sure, the ST follow-up can give you a similar option, but you don't determine when the opponent wakes up.
   Possibility to ruin your charge time after the neutral jump.

Follow up to Izuna Drop that lands opponent in the corner
   Equipment toss; It was always safe after an Izuna in SF4.
   With Vega's back to the center of the screen, ability to space all moves perfectly (making ST a viable AA tool here) and
   the mask toss buff (even dmg/stamina trade and 1/4 of your super meter), it's viable imo. Seriously, the
   opponent shouldn't leave the corner without taking a huge risk (gain life lead, sit on charge and punish any type of
   long range escape options or jump outs with EX FBA or ST). If you don't want to take the chance with the mask,
   you can just toss the claw if you've been under pressure recently and pick it back up.

 Forward throw -> fierce RCF corner pressure
  Corner pressure with kara throw followed up by fierce RCF for dmg/chip. Push back on forward throw is less in the
  corner, so fierce RCF hits pretty quickly. You could do fierce RCF after a forward throw in the middle of the stage,
  but it can be jumped over.

That’s my 2 cents. Figured I may as well share what I’m finding with other Vega players. Maybe you can improve on it or find faults. Hope it helps some players out. Also, please be reminded that back dashes/specific character focuses end the “Izuna Loop”, so don’t rely on it too much for come backs.

I don’t see us having time to make a vid before Thursday
basically, you knock somebody down preferably close to a solid wall so you don’t get wall bugged. Has to be a hard knockdown too, sweep preferably… or an izuna drop. Then you do the wall jump so that as they recover, you are already maneuvering towards their head]

video please

@view619
Nice read, good stuff.

I saw some older posts on this concerning Vanilla but not a whole lot for Super. I’ve been able to use Piece of Mercury a few times now but most of the time I just get knocked out of it because the startup on it is too long. I know it has decent range on it but after you hit them, then what? I end up blocking because I haven’t found anything to combo into it with.

It’s not a combo starter. It’s more like a move you use VERY sparingly, as a match ender.
Or you could use it to make your opponent stand/reversal more.

ok i need help with kara throwing…not sure if this is the best place to ask but wutever…anyone got a video or a good description of hand positioning for this on a stick?

i hit rh with my pink, lk with my index finger, lp with my middle finger

really just try hitting those three buttons with three fingers, find a way that’s comfortable. nobody can really tell you how to do it when it’s as simple as ‘hit rh right before your throw’

Medium ST crossup

I have a question, I’ve seen it somewhere in the forums before but now i can’t find it anymore. People talk about using Medium ST to set up a cross up, can anyone explain how this is done and why it has to be medium?

I’ve seen some makoto vids and I notice he randomly whiffs ST sometimes, what’s the reason behind that?

as for the ST question, it’s a relatively safe way to build a little meter when you knock a sucker down

Ah there it is, thanks

When does BHC whiff after the launcher connects? I can’t figure it out.
