Other thing by the way. Don’t rely constantly on Vega’s crMP.
His far LK and far standing MK are brilliant too, along with his crMK.
Don’t throw walldives out randomly either.
and in a Vega mirror match…don’t walldive. EVER. Unless they do it to you’re countering their missed one should they be stupid enough to do it to you.
Hello, folks. I’ve been wanting to try my hand at a new character, since Dhalsim and Akuma are just getting stale for me, and I’m just not getting any better with them. Chun-Li, Makoto, and Vega seem to be those I feel most interested in. I’ve poked around with Vega a bit, but I don’t feel all too confident in my ability yet. My biggest issue seems to be all the wall-jumping. Is there a simple strategy or tactic I could use to better improve my Vegability?
I read that you’re not supposed to be holding any direction in order for the attack to hit twice but even that’s not reliable for me. Unless it’s just my execution.
You have to be in very close proximity to your opponent, try to get directly overhead
You can’t be pressing a direction
It’s not hard if you practice it a bit, just steer in and try to get right on top of the opponent, then let go of the stick at the last moment before you press punch.
Hello everyone! I’ve been on SRK for a while but I’ll be a regular in the vega forums now. I used to play as Akuma/Makoto but I’ve found that it’s really el matador who’s the most fun to play as.
I’ve got a question, how do you even begin to discover what combos and what doesn’t? Do you just look at frame data?
After most knockdowns you can corpsehop , walk forward then dash back/backflip to bait something, against certain chars you can do a meaty attack to keep up the pressure, or you can jump in if spaced correctly.
After a backthrow you can do a safe jump mp, read Deuy’s thread somewhere further down the forum for more info on this.
Another thing you can do is a HK/MK ST and then crossup with an EXFBA or do a cl.hp (i forgot what it does but it has a better property than usual).
Dan sounds amazing. Vega is great against Blanka, dont know why people think he is a hard match up. And Vega dealing with Chun, its about being creative on your defense and attack. Since you do have an answer to everything she does.
im leaning on Gen because I love his character design. As for Honda, I despise him. Chun…sounds pretty good at this point though.
dont poke just because you can. When i play this match up, the less buttons i push, the easier it is. Blanka relies on shit like constant jumping, frame traps, elec traps, crossups, and corpsehop shennanigins. Learn when you can begin to attack. next time you play a blanka, watch the rematch. I can guarantee that you are going to see a lot of counter hits on your end. so stop pushing buttons at just because it feels right. You cant do that against the little green guy. Same applies to chun because her pokes eat your staple pokes for free.
