Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

So he hasn’t got any almost useless ones? Sorry I’m crap with framedata and have been practicing j.hp/hk-cl.hp-c.mp and j.hp/hk-c.mk-c.mp and am curious as to what frame links hey are

Ok, I’ve been using Vega since a little before SSF4 came out and I’m not the greatest one out there, but there is a combo I keep seeing, the downforward hard kick into ST. How do you to that? I’ve also seen it go into his U2. Don’t you have to change down-back for ST? If someone could explain how that’s done, that’d be awesome-sauce, thanks! (I CAN do the df HK into his EX-walldive, but this looks like a sweet combo too, lol)

I wish this was stickied somewhere or something, because this question gets answered probably once a week.

Headtapp has a vid on it:

and Sasaki goes over how to do it on a controller:

Do the cosmic heel df + hk, and instantly snap back into db charge. The best way to make it sink in is to consider the down-back to be part of the input for cosmic heel. So every time you Cosmic Heel, think of the move as being df + hk > db. Then you just have to add the f + k for the ST before they hit the ground. You have more time than you think, the ST will scoop them off the ground before they land so just get used to the charge time.

Oh yeah, it’s the same concept for his Ultra 2 except it’s much stricter to do. An AA CH to Ultra2 is fairly easy, but to land it on a grounded opponent requires you to be at the max range of CH or you won’t get the Ultra out in time.

Pedo is right, pretty much all of them are useful.

As for the MOST useful ones:
c. mk, c. mp for sure.
Close fierce, c. mp as well.
c. jabs into more jabs then a c. mp is difficult but doable.
c. mk Stand roundhouse is easy and nets great damage.
st. lk stand roundhouse, or st. lk, c. jab / c. mp is also pretty good but more situational then c. mk, for the most part. Linking st. lk with another st. lk is pretty tough.

For the most part, there are links into crouch fierce but they are pretty difficult to pull off. If you don’t plink I’d be surprised if you could hit any hit confirms into it consistently.

Also, I know I’m the only Vega who uses it but c. jab, jab, into st. RH is a great combo.

Thanks a bunch Deuy! Gonna be hittin’ the training room when I get home, lol.

Having trouble doing Jump In Fierce into Ultra 2. Does it only work in certain situations ie Counter hit, character dependent, etc? I almost feel like I don’t have enough time to charge.

I use that too actually, it’s an easy combo to pull off and does decent damage off of jabs without meter.

ive been practicing this combo recently and use a a 360 pad. i find i miss it more when i push the anologue stick to the edge for the cosmic heel so try to touch the corner of df and curve it round to db. if this is unnecessary som1 let me know

does n e one else that uses anologue find that using a different screen messes up your perception of the diagonals?. when i go 2 a mates house i have to play for a while to get used to the screen

cheers guys thats awesome, il be sure ad these to my training sessions

Juggle Kick>Ex Wall dive! Uncontrollable?

This thread has a TON posts so if it was answered already I apologize.

I was just wondering if anyone knows why when I do Vega’s B&B DF+HK Juggle hop kick into EX wall dive and I CLEARLY press toward them it randomly dives the opposite direction!

I went to training to see if my direction was off…nope!

Is this a glitch or what?

first off, you shouldnt be using df HK > EX FBA where you can use df HK > Scarlett terror for almost the same damage and no meter cost.

as for you going backwards when you’re doing the EX FBA, its either you’re messing up your uf input and pressing ub instead, or that its something related to shortcuts, like if you only press ‘up’ the dive will go to the closest wall to you.

You’re probably tapping UF too quickly and letting go, try holding the UF direction until you actually see Vega go forward. If you return the stick to neutral too soon he will often default to the back wall. CH > ST takes some practice so CH > EX FBA is a good place to start until you are comfortable going to the next level.

Thanks Duey did the trick. The game wants you to hold the direction you want to go instead of tapping it.
The Scarlet Terror timing after is too tricky. If there is a secret way of doing it I would love to know. Because right now I am just immediately going DB after the animation starts for the Hop Kick! Randomly it comes out. Is there a trick to doing it 100%?

If you’re a visual kinda guy, check the link in my sig. I freeze after the CH to show when the input for ST should be done. It’s really just a timing thing, no secret involved. Once you get the timing down it’s pretty easy to do. You pretty much want to do it just as the opponent starts to fall, or as you reach the crouch animation. Not really sure how to explain it…

I have problems doing my moves becuase I can only play on my carpit. The fight stick keep slipping on the floor. What do i do

Oil up and slide around with it.

Brace it against something, otherwise you may have to take Pop’s advice.

Can anyone help me with the execution of l.rcfxxFBS. I kinda did it by accident once and was wondering exactly how the hell i did it. Also can it be done with SC too? Thanks in advance

Well I got 2qustions

 1. How do Vega’s punches link together. I relly need to learn how to do cr.lp

 2. How do you do that down/foward+hk to ST

Jaiy: I assume you mean super?

Do - charge db, f + LP, then quickly do db, u forward or back + k… you’re trying to xx on the first hit of the roll

Faust: his LP chain is a 1 frame link… timing can be difficult. Visually, when his arm is fully extended on hit is about when you can get the next LP to chain. If you wanna do LP, MP I suggest you learn p-linking (search you tube or the ssfiv boards for info on this)

Your scarlet terror question is answered on nearly every page of this thread… I think someone even posted a video on the previous page.
