Vega Match-Ups Thread: I Only Understand the Pain of Being too Strong and Beautiful

is there a frame data where i can see the properties of clawless moves?

the thread titled like Frame data from the prima guide in this subforum. you weren’t looking that hard.

SHe’s a problem for sure. The good thing is, her normal jump is slow…so anti-airing her shouldn’t be a problem. But her instant air kicks are pretty dumb…I really don’t think they should hit crouching but they do…I tried sweeping under and still got hit.

On top of that, her Fw.fierce into V-trigger is plain scary.

Her cr.MK is also good but not amazing…this is where Vega’s st.MP can go to work. You must stay out of range of her cr.MK. Most likely they’re buffering EX legs…if you have Vmeter, purposely get in range of cr.MK and bait ex legs. You can punish her ex legs by using V-reversal at the right time.

If she wants to challenge Vega’s st.MP, she has to use sweep which works really well - but it’s totally punishable on block so that’s another thing you’re gonna have to bait. She’s got anti-airs, espeically st.LK which is plain easy-mode.

I’d save meter for V-trigger confirms into super for this matchup, unless it’s for good damage.

I’m pretty sure you can v-skill her instant air legs and punish her fully for it.

How are you guys faring against Laura? Once she gets in it is a pain in the ass to get back to a comfortable range.

Would claw or clawless stance be better against birdy?

I think the idea of “claw on” or “claw off” is flawed.

Ideally you want to be fluid and keep things moving between the two depending on context.

Fine, just once she’s in, it’s like abel, you have to make a decision if you want to guess between grab/hit.

I also like reversal block a few frames jump back. this allows you to block a true meaty, but also jump a command grab.

Chun’s air lightning legs can be air-aired with c.HP fist. But this is assuming she doesn’t do it to you meaty.

Normally what I do with claw swaps is I’ll knock them down, then just start mashing the stance swap move so they don’t know what stance I’m in as I go for a Barcelona Dive immediately - makes them have to guess.

this seems super sloppy if they quickrise/your opponent isn’t dumb.

It is, if you’re not careful. It also serves as a taunt to piss the other guy off and make him play worse, haha. Very effective against Ken mains.

I can’t wrap my head around R. Mika - every match I get bodied no matter how stupidly random the other guy is. Even just constantly jumping in. Vega can’t do shit about it - his AA’s just can’t cover the angle in the time that is necessary. What a brainless character Mika is, sheesh…

Try it local? I find online isn’t accurate to learning the real game. Even if the net code is good, there are still things not controlled compared to offline.

Thanks for the tips. I need to learn how to punish her c.hk when she uses it against my st.mp. We can only slide her as a punish? It seems too far to actually do any significant damage when our other normals cannot reach her.

Thanks!! Tested it out and it works. Timing is really strict though. Tried a few others like c.hp , st.hk and such but so far only our crouch vtrigger is really good against the air lightning kicks. st.hk is good too but have to do it early. h.ASE is the best punish if vega can yomi the attack.

The first time I fought this guy I lost to him, but I learned my lesson. Just try to stay away from the corners.

Graham quit Vega the other day. Didn’t like that he could not go clawless only anymore.

He wasn’t very good with Vega tbh.

You just gotta stay at an angle where c.fp will hit her out of the air. Whatever you do don’t get cornered, Vega sucks there @_@.

Hokage puts in work, I haven’t seen the vid yet, but he grinds in the lab.

@Nekorin she can do her air legs by jumping forward…this makes me think it’s a cross-up and I immediately walk forward and get hit. From the options you showed, realistically, I would say only cr.V-trigger is perhaps doable. I know it’s easy to react in training mode, cos you know the move is coming - but in a match, I doubt we can react with st.HK etc. The move is too fast.

I always have my V-trigger set to 1 button so I can see myself reacting with cr.V-trigger perhaps. Need to try it out.
