Ehm… but s.mk is the best normal for meaties man.
Untrue. Like I said, it’s too slow at 7 frames and you can easily be too late or too early. Cr.MP (clawless) is the best at 5 frames and 3 active frames.
I’ve been using st mk myself more often for meaties, but obviously it isn’t a low attack. st mk counter-hit leads into some nice damage though.
S.mk is not a low? My vega is a lie
I hate that st mk and c mk have the same start up…i know videogames don’t necessarily fallow real life logic but come-oon how is it that slighly extending your foot to throw a low kick and the much more complex looking cmk have the same start up…st mk should be 6 frame start up or meaby be +3 on block…something…right now is just a lesser version of cmk…having more active frames doesn’t make it stand on itself against cmk…
How is the matchup looking against Urien? At least on paper. theory fighter time.
Against 3 frame wake up button mashers, meaty bh cr.hp xx wall dive is a good tool.
Quite easy to get the meaty timing right with 4 active frames and beefy damage on the countehit.
Yeah it seems like clawless cr HP might be the best option in terms of risk / reward on the opponents wake up, especially in the corner where the wall dive is hard for people to react to if they block the hp and you want to stay aggressive.
s.mk is faster and has more active frames than cr.mk, it is wayyy more reliable as meaty than cr.mk, but cr.mk is better cause it is a low, if you are precise with the timing.
Another good meaty normals are clawless HP normals, cr.HP forces a standing.
Both cmk and st mk are 7 frame start up actually…the one thing i think is interesting about st mk is that seems to have a pretty good hitbox…it just eats things like Chun Li’s slide punch (is that her cr mp?..i hate that move)…and also Mika’s slide punch (also her cr mp?..another extremely cheap move)…i’ve also seen Vega players sucessfuly counterpoke Dalshim’s normals with it
Standing BH Hp is an ok meaty since it stands crouchers and can counter-hit combo into stance change > Hp xx stance change > etc. Unfortunately it has a 9f startup and only 2 active frames . I only use BH cr.Hp for meaties in the corner since a blocked ex FBA is a threat. Don’t use that shit against Chun though; she’ll just SBK you for your troubles.
I was just testing cr.HP BH. Coulnd’t even get to +3 on hit on COUNTER HIT…wtf.
I’d definitely use st.HP more often as a meaty if it wasn’t so freaking slow.
Are we sure bare handed st Hp stands crouchers?..i know cr HP does for sure…but st HP?
Nope - it doesn’t.
Ah…okey…that sounded weird to me…it also has a fuckton of pushback which sucks…it has decent reach and a very good hitbox so you can confidently thow it from certain range if you are at frame advantage but unless you are at point blank it pushes opponents so far that often you can’t even link into claw cmp
Kinda feel cheated that it’s not his crush…cos it is with claw on.
I was trying to shake the rust off from a week of no play for me against a Sim today. At the beginning of EVERY round, he did his standing MK. I did my standing MK. I won. LOL.
st.mk is quite good for meaties, also the limited amount of pushback is great cause you can command grab after.
Ahh you’re right, my bad. A thousand apologies. However, BH s.HP does hit crouchers so if you land a counterhit, you can go into Claw s.HP which stands crouchers. Meaty BH s.HP xx SC > s.HP > s.LP > cr.MP xx ex.FBA works on crouchers at point blank. If your BH s.HP is too far out, then you’ll need to eliminate the s.LP from the combo.
…
Ah…okey…looking at it that way then yeah…landing that counter hit bare handed st Hp from close is as good as if it was with a normal that stands…i still fuck up the link with claw HP often sadly
