I usually at least began with claw on against Chun (against zooner Chun players) her jump is very floaty and i can HP ase somewhat consistently…actually i like to review my posture on HP ase…it is not imposible to use…it is just hard…there is no point on practicing against a pre-recorded dummy…you don’t actuallly react because you know what the dummy is going to do after a while…i set the dummy to be controled by the cpu in level 8…not much of a challenge but also not too predictable…it also did wonders for my ability to v-skill fireballs
I’m in need of some advice. I keep having problems in certain matches (usually Ryu or Ken) and I am Vega. I keep getting beat by players that jump around a lot throwing out jumping roundhouse. It seems like it beats Vega’s anti-airs (ducking fierce punch, standing roundhouse, air throw.) I figure maybe just avoiding the jumping would be the way, but still lose. Any advice appreciated.

LOOK! Nemo playing clawless theory Vega against Nash! we were right after all.
I know I have a lot to learn, but I can tell you from experience, that you have to confirm some of those c lps into light rolls for combos. Also when you land a regular FBA, get the light ASE
after for the 2 hit combo. When you see someone doing DPs freely like that, expect it all the time, and just punish. You did that in round 1 of the first fight very well. If it works, dont deviate.
Also, just like me, dont do so many cold EX FBAs. I absolutely hate how at my rank (ultra silver), people know to just light punch out of it. So just get out of the habit now and be merry. Start throwing out some crouching mediums as well when you are close and start comboing into it.
As far as anti air, I cant seem to get all of them down at the times they are needed, so I kinda limit myself, but I dont get hit trying to punish. So its a 50/50.
Practice air throw on crossups, that helped me a lot to stop people from jumping like crazy retards. You were also sliding too much (i have that bad habit too so i know how hard it is lol)only do it when you’re sure the guy will try to move away from you or throw a fireball.
When you see someone going random like that Ryu, just calm down, block some hits and get ready to anti air(or air to air if needed) when he inevitably jumps.
You should also work on your punishes.
Looks like Rog’s CA punishes neutral jumps full screen.
Same BS as Cammy then - nothing new in the game. At least Rog looks like he’ll be spending meter more though.
Has anybody landed lp. or mp. ASE into super against Dhalsim’s extended limbs during a match? Messed around with it in training mode - seems pretty difficult to pull off on a regular basis.
^ Try clawless s.HP instead
So how do we think our boy will hold up against the new characters? I know he’s only day 1, but i was tagging Balrog specials all day with ASE. The hit box for this move is MASSIVE and if you’ve got a dash straight happy Rog you can stuff them clean all day.
However, his buttons seem really dominant. I was using him for a few hours today and I think he can compete with us in a button war.
Also, EX.FBA seems really good against his dash specials. Doing those seems to raise his hurtbox a little, so you can tag him from pretty far if he isn’t careful.
I think Ibuki will be a bad matchup for Vega when they level up. She is a master of setups and mixups and Vega has no dp. That said, Vega has tools to deal with her in neutral game just like he does against Laura and the shotos.
So far I am in the positive against both. I am going to try and strike while the iron is hot and make a move for gold while people are trying them in ranked.
I think Ibuki is a bad MU for us. Her basic combos do decent damage, she has decent mixups, and she can easily change the angle of her jump in with air kunai or that kite shit she does.
Her health seems low tho, and our buttons and neutral seem superior, at least at first glance.
Also, is there any chance of getting an OP with actual information or nah? Because otherwise I think we’d be better off with multiple threads.
I wouldn’t be worried about her jump/air game in comparison to the ground. Her normal Kunais are not that great - it’s her air EX kunai that would be troublesome. Her jumping attacks are also pretty weak priority-wise. Her lk is kinda like Ryu’s so that might be a problem.
Ibuki’s cr.MP will basically make it very difficult for Vega. She can buffer that into ex kunai into stuff. On top of that she has a DP so when Vega is in - he still has to be careful.
Her special dash is also pretty crazy when combined with ground ex.Kunai and V-trigger (bomb). That’s gonna get people a lot of rounds.
Considering the lag in this game - we ain’t gonna be reacting to her special dashes anytime soon.
Well timed V-Skill can mess with Boxer’s dash straight. Spin through and punish.
That seems pretty risky. It’s really minus on block and if you whiff it you’ll prolly eat a dash punch anyway. Not to mention he can just use dash low instead. It may be viable if he does it from really far though.
It’s risky. The sort of thing reserved for a strong read.
So after playing today, Im about 50/50 for both. Balrog has crazy strength, and can put you down fast if you arent paying attention. I find I do better against Ibuki with claw off.
Should I fight Guile claw on or off? I find I do better Claw off because I have no reason to try and keep Guile out because he’s trying to do the same with me.
Clawless with Ibuki seems to be the way to go for me. I feel like she whiff punishes me too easily with the claw on. It’s easy to bully her up close clawless imo.
What baffles me is his low-hitting EX dash punch. That thing hits pretty much full-screen, is super fast, and isn’t even punishable. It’s like a full screen sweep that’s not punishable and it does plenty of damage.
It makes the neutral game pretty stupid.
