I know that Ryu’s solar plexus is their go to meaty move…i usually don’t have problem seen it coming and i was even relieved when i saw him using it (few…his turn is over)…but yeah if it does catch you is big damaged…so back dash will be…thanks
ASE can beat a throw, normal, and a DP
ASE can beat DP’s if it’s meaty, there’s a lot of videos of it in this thread. St fierce lp ae, dash in, ae slash makes birdkick whiff for example. cr lp into ae slash makes ken and ryu’s dp’s whiff for a cc punish, and leaves Vega -1 on block. You can time it manually, those are just some of the quick rise setups.
Edit: it’s character specific, though, but there’s timings for a lot of the cast.
Next time I play Laura, I’m going barbecue’n, I seriously can’t wait!
By the way, did anyone else noticed Vega is getting almost no results in tournaments. He’s almost never in top 8, rarely in top 16, and I’ve never seen him in top 4 at a major.
I still feel he’s underrated, but I’m pretty bored of the character. Waiting for Juri or Urien, then I’ll pick up SF again.
Other than for some cali vegas and Nemo, the rest of the vega players are ass. Thats why.
Danke is good.
and some of them are stranded in the middle of canada!!!
Is there any thing Vega can do in the Karin matchup? Is it even or does he lose? I feel like her normals are just way better than mine and she can just pressure me for free. I can’t stop her from jumping at me and I can’t seem to punish tenko, orochi or mujin kyaku on block. Every time I press a button to attempt a punish I get counter hit.
This match up is frustrating for me because I’ve lost to every Karin I fought this morning. I thought I could figure out the match up by feel but I feel like I need some pointers right now.
I consider myself decent with the character… Made top 128 at FR, the first SFV major. So…
i think karin is a favorable matchup for vega. use st. mp a lot. it beats a lot of her stuff, just make sure you are spacing it correctly. she has good walk speed too which can make things difficult
as for her jump ins they are all pretty easily anti-aired with c. hp. you can slide under whatever ones are too deep for c. hp to be functional.
just make sure you respect her v-trigger and when she is fully loaded. if you get yourself cornered it can go downhill fast.
but to me it can’t be worse than 5-5. she’s pretty rough when she gets in because of c. mp but at a distance, vega wins and you can keep her there if you’re really using your normals well
I busted my ass to qualify with my team for SFV Crash and we lost to a top 4 team. I was on of the few to even beat 200won. I definitely need work in some areas though. Ever since I been using jump tech I have been doing better in matches vs Mika and Laura when they actually get in.

You can definitely anti air Karin. Certain cancels into orochi are free combos like c.mk xx orochi. You can s.lk, c.lp xx CT or EX FBA in between the cancel. Tenko is really punishable you just need to learn the timing. If she does s.lk or c.mp you can’t press a button. If she does c.mp you can s.lk.
Killing someone with a safe jump FBA combo where you see the DP get stuffed brightens my day.
Yeah i also believe karin matchup is slightly in vega favor, what jozhear said.
Also, @jozhear would you like a set with me anytime? Im a platinum vega, would like to see yours in action :3
So I just had a Guile keep me out with nothing but crouching jab. I could not get in what so ever to save my life. I felt like I just got beat by the scrubbiest shit of all time. If I was out of Jab range he was spamming Sonic Booms. He also kept whiffing c.mk and c.MP and every time I tried to whiff punish I would get hit by the next jab or crouching medium. It was extremely frustrating because I had no idea what to do. I felt like I had just succumbed to ignorance of the matchup.
The guile player also kept using the upside down kick and the knee attack. I had no idea how to stop those either. Of course I know not to jump in at Guile. I just don’t have an answer for anything. Please don’t tell me to punish flash kicks with CC combos. That’s the most basic shit in the world. I already know to do that and honestly that was the only time I got decent damage against my opponent. Trying to get in on Guile is so fucking frustrating for me right now.
If you’re trying to be at a distance from his cr.LP, you’re trying to get too close, in my opinion. Vega can really harass Guile with clawed st.MP, and all he needs to do is be patient and walk forward blocking a few booms. Once he’s within reach of your st.MP, his sonic booms are stuffed and you get to pressure him with dashes once he doubts about theowing booms.

yeah, sure. i saw you sent a request to me the other day but i think i was already in a lounge. I’ll try and get your CFN added later on.

What is that?..
It’s just a delayed tech throw but you tech with up back. You block a normal or jump/tech the throw.
