Considering there are no hard knockdowns, this seems pretty meh.
Believe it or not most comments are actually pretty sane, Vega uses all his super bar and V-Trigger to pull off that kind of damage, if it wasn’t that high I would actually pretty disappointed.
Yeah right, it could seem even low against a Ryu’s max super/V-trigger combo.
Man that was painful to watch! But it tells me that the first thing I need to get down is that new Vega AA tech for all the online jumpers lol.
So what are his go-to AAs in this game? So far are I got, from watching videos and reading the thread
claw
s.HP
QCB HP
c.HP (situational)
claw off
c.HP
both (all below are situationalish)
air throw
s.HK
crouching V-Trigger
V-Skill (VERY situational)
Nobody using st. mp is making me sad like when I lost to Matsuri at EVO.
Although this is the first time we’re seeing CT xx CA, of course it’s possible. It’s a grounded special move and RCF has always been super cancelable. However, I want to see if the new final hit with the kick can be CA canceled as well, as Vega is airborne during that kick.
That was probably some online lag.
Is vega able to easily switch stances even during hit/block stun like gen so you can do “stance switch” combos easily?
No it has an animation that needs to finish before you switch, you can’t mask it behind hit/blockstun or jumping afaik.
Does Vega not have his nj.HK in this? in fact idk if there are any nj normals in this game…
That was his best anti-air in Sf4…
I wonder how safe his roll move is. That Mika seem like they couldn’t do not ch after it.
Masking Claw switching behind hit/block stun would be pretty OP. You would be able to make it so your claw almost never falls off. That’s the whole point of having to manage claw on and off since blocking or getting hit while claw is off doesn’t take points off your claw falling off. Only when your Claw is on does it take damage.
That’s why you have to be careful since if the claw does fall off you only have one stance for the rest of the round. No picking it back up.
Chun Li still has her neutral jump HK split kicks. There still are neutral jump normals, they are just more limited than they are in other SF games. It may have something to do with their design choice of no proximity normals and not cluttering the game up with too many normals that have super situational or basically no use.
No, that’s a shame. They are replaced with normals that fit the same roles, but I’ll miss that and s.MK from SFIV.
Well that’s only because Matsuri mains Chun-Li… and we all know that “all chun liz moevs go thru vegz”
You had not a chance my friend
That almost made me spit out my cereal in laughter.
so is ever going to be possible to setup unblockable raikou hadokens outside of really large frame traps with EX meter? I think throughout the whole 1st beta I found one (maybe 2? idk) setup and its probably moot now since supers (at least Ryu’s) aren’t hard KDs anymore
Apparently Vega can’t link cr lp to cr mp anymore based on the latest WSO Stream.
for the sake of balance i doubt that having unblockable setups would be a good thing, cheap and no skill required
That’s really weird. I get how they want to nerf linking off of lights in general (which I disagree with, by giving them less range jabs were in a good place in SFV, had their use without being stupid like in SF4). But why Vega? THe best he can get off of that is some jabs into strong, and it ends there unless he has V-Trigger. And it ends at strong into Trigger (meh damage) unless he has super. So the only way he can get some real nice damage off his jabs is if he commits all his meters to it, and that’s IF he confirmed standing hit because V-Trigger whiffs on crouching. That should be fine, I don’t have an issue with “Vega can get a lot of damage off his jabs IF he has full super and Trigger meter AND they were standing hits.”
I guess I’ll be doing a lot of jabs into roll instead. Oh well.
I knew this would happen. But I would rather lose c.LP -> c.MP than lose c.MP xx V-Trigger. F*** Jab Fighter.
Were both claw c.LP and bare-handed c.LP tested to see if they link into c.MP?
Saw in the latest SCR vids, after b+hk (the old close HK), ryu can link sweep straight up. So it has to be around +6 on it, I assume he can get cr.mk and cr.mp as well.
