Vega General Thread: The Masked Narcissist Enters The Tournament

Go to 1:00, there he have it

Thats the first time I have seen Kens bag. haha… I hope they update SfXT with less complicated system

No donkey kick…sigh

I’m not even fan of the move itself
I was hoping for this (it will work awesome with SFV Ryu too)

or for a new special with punch, since they’re going to differentiate the shotos with Ryu being the harder puncher and Ken the better kicker

But donkey kick was better than nothing

Hey anyone happen to know if Ryu still has his close fierce upper (b + HP??)? I saw the move in the Capcom Cup video but it doesn’t look like it’s in the game now.

Its called** Kaze no kobushi **the fist of the wind.

A different way from focus from were it really originated. its morelikely same with Takuma’s Mou Ko Murai Gan/Mouko Burai Gan - qcb+P

That move was also tied in with Capcom Fighting All Stars, SF3MANGA/RYU FINAL, SMASH BRO.

its cool with Joudan Sokutou Geri/Donkey Kick to appear

Where is that from? I’m a big fan of kaze no Kobushi and felt we got a weak version in sfiv. It’d be nice if he it ever began a super, to have energy explode from his fist like CFAS.

I was asking for this in capcom unity back in 2009

Yup. I have been there too in BBS, It a mix some from mugenguild and bigmex blog. I have also come across your blog too.

It was also his Cross Art in SFxT:

Yeah it’s basically a focus attack in sf x tk. But there’s energy on his fist in he Ryu final manga, cfas, and the issen omega technique

Got to play a ton of SFV Ryu at Six Flag’s yesterday, maybe 3 hours worth. If anyone has any questions about how things seem for him right now, I’d be down to answer

Assuming you are familiar with the character from previous games, how does this Ryu *feel * to you compared to his 4,3, and 2 predecessors?

Would asking for a general post with your insight too much?

I have a few specific questions:

  1. Once you have v-trigger, can you anti air jumps by activating it and then dping (basically matrix mode anti air. Don’t jump).
  2. Were you able to combo anything after j.mp.
  3. How do you feel about cr.mk (reach/frame data) and f.hp (specially frame advantage on block and startup). This might be far fetched sorry lol.
  4. As it stands, do you feel setups for break guard with v-trigger are possible (with EX if necessary) or are knockdowns too short?
  5. Denjin always breaks guard?

Thanks in advance

Here’s the Alex

I can answer some of these as well.

  1. Yes. Bison, Ryu, and Cammy have fast recovery on their V-Trigger activation’s that they can use it to time an anti-air.
  2. You can combo EX Shoryuken and Super after j.Strong.
  3. N/A
  4. Knockdowns are too short to properly set up a meaty guard break. You might be able to pull this off after his critical art since it causes a hard knockdown.
  5. Denjin Hadouken always causes a guard break.

I’d place him closest to a 3rd Strike style of play. From what I’ve experienced, if you attempt to play only a zoning game with him you will lose. He really loves being inside peoples faces and not giving them room to breathe thanks to his new St. MP which gives him a sort of 3s Ken offense. He can rack up damage and stun very quickly. The way that stun works in this game, it’s really impossible to mash out of, so if your opponent is prepared they’ll get the fattest combo they can possibly get. Also, stun combos don’t seem to scale near as hard as they do in SF4 so stunning your opponent will give you a huge lead

  1. Yes, his V-Trigger activation has really quick recovery. You can pop it and then anti air an already airborne opponent. I’ve heard other people say you can use V-Trigger activation to extend combos after cr. HP

  2. J. MP (2 hit), J. MP (1 hit) xx Tatsu worked [possibly V-Trigger only? unsure], as did J. MP into Super

  3. Cr. MK serves a different utility in this game compared to more recent Street Fighter games. The range on it is decent but not great. It’s best used in combos or for an effective low attack if your opponent is walking backwards or if you bait a throw tech from your opponent. However, Fireball on block seemed to be much less negative compared to SF4 so I didn’t mind using Cr. MK xx Fireball just to push my opponent out and reset the neutral every once in a while

  4. To get Guard Break from your fireballs it seems like they have to reach either full charge or at least a certain amount of charge. If you’re trying to be sneaky and get a guard break, you’ll have to use EX bar for the faster start up otherwise they’ll see it coming from a mile away. Knockdowns in general are incredibly different from SF4. Everyone gets up incredibly quickly from almost any type of knockdown but being unable to backdash on wake up or abuse OS teching makes them useful in a very different way.

  5. I’m not sure exactly what Denjin is, but if it’s his Super, it only breaks guard when V-Trigger is activated. Otherwise your opponent will block it regularly. It doesn’t seem like there’s much you can do with this so far but I’m sure there’s something if you’ve got your opponent cornered and forced to take it

Wow this is new info. If it does work it’s 100% v-trigger only.

I didn’t even know j.mp was special cancellable lol

This is pretty sick. His super starts so freaking fast (I remember in some cases people tried to jump out of it and got hit) that a cr.mk xx super with v trigger on sounds increadibly cheap. Does it rack up any damage or stun (ala SFIV gouken) if it’s blocked?

How’s meter building from whiffing specials (I know regular meter building is good enough to get one super per round at least)? Do any of you guys know ie how many srks you need to get a bar?

cr.Forward xx Denjin is not guaranteed since the opponent can V-Reversal on the cr.Forward (probably after super flash too) to get out of that. There’s an instance where Daigo does this to chip out Tokido and then after the super flash Tokido did V-Reversal to get out of the chip set up. I’m not sure if he was already doing V-Reversal on the cr.Forward or he was mashing it after the super flash.

Whiffing specials doesn’t build up that much meter. I know Vesper and I recorded footage on this but I can’t remember the exact number of SRKs to get a stock.
