Bison’s CA is 236236K
I don’t like the change to make Vega a motion character. Vega should be a charge character. Taking away his charge moves is not only removing an SF legacy, but will also very likely to remove a certain play style from the game in order to keep him balanced.
the decision to change Vega into a motion character is pure BS in my opinion. It will change the “feel” of the character too much. I guess it was ok with Nash as we havent seen him in more than a decade and they will probably have guile anyway… but Vega? WTF…
Didnt they change birdie from a charge character too? I mean, I know they want to make the game more accessible, but to retard levels? seriously?
So instead of playing the other 95% of the cast that isn’t charge, including all of the new characters, you just have to play Vega…
Fuck this shit.
I don’t think it’s that big of a leap. Vega’s not really a Guile or a Boxer type charge character. The charge requirement doesn’t really compliment his style in the same way that it’s natural for Guile or Boxer to hold back/downback. Vega is supposed to be quick on his feet, but at the same time not a bulldog either. He’s supposed to weave back and fore, like a matador.
I quite like this , he could end up like gen where depending on the stance he’s either a charge character or a motion…I’m intrigued
It dawned on me just now that if Vega isn’t charge, maybe he suffers from terrible walk speed right now too. So you can’t do the classic SF4 Vega footsie weaving play style. Pretty sure we didn’t see him walk at all in the trailer, so I’m really looking forward to see him in action. If he has to use FBA just to be mobile, and need his V trigger to give him mobility options also that’d make him insanely different. Like he’d be the new El Fuerte in a sense, but he’d also feel more like he’s actually doing Ninjutsu.
Vega with poor walk speed is just something that just conceptually doesn’t compute. Bison’s walk speed downgrade is played off on his arrogance. Vega is all about elegance and finesse though. For him it’s a dance, and a dancer is light and graceful on his feet.
I love the purists and their asinine ideas of what a character should and should not be. This is sf-fucking-v, other than Ryu, every character is on the revamp chopping board. I hope the change in command stays. He is way more interesting this way.
He still will probably have a good dash, and good normals, that the dance comes from using those rather than depend on a good walk speed at all.
One of Vegas staples is his walk speed. He may very well walk faster tha Chun or be on pad with her, but who knows. Capcom can very well give him bison tier speed. Either way the change in cmd is the only thing I really care about and how it affects his gameplan, if it is the same as past iterations of sf.
I saw that post haha, guess we Vega mainers will have to adjust to non-charge Vega. That will be so weird… Haha
I get that… If I’m being honest I know DP would make this guy broken. I just cringe when I see how easy it is for Shoto users to mash up DP when under pressure, while we have to actually apply great defense (block strings, overheads, cross-ups, throw teching, etc). Not saying that every player doesn’t have to be solid defensively, regardless of who they use, but it’s more crucial for us.
He’s a circular motion character now?
This is gonna take some time getting used to but I’m still hella excited to use Vega in SFV
The motion thing appears to just be a test. I mean, Rolento was godlike when he came out in the Arcade release then got nerfed to mid tier so anything could happen.
I have barely any knowledge on charge characters, but wouldn’t him being a motion character make him too strong? I thought the design behind charge characters in general was that they had great normals and specials but to compensate, they’d be hindered by the charge motion so they won’t become too op.
Regardless, I finally have a chance to decide if I want to main Vega now that he’s motion. I always liked Vega (hated fighting against him tho) but charge just doesn’t do it for me. But now, the situation is totally different. I’m excited.
I can’t believe people are calling for him to be charge.
Being charge is BAD. It’s a punishment for having strong moves. Having motions is a straight buff.
Vega was never a sit in downback style of character to begin with, and this weakness is more obvious in 4, where he even had reduced charge times and still suffered.
The only thing I can think of as to why Capcom originally made Vega a charge character is because they probably figured wall dive/izuna drop was a powerful move and didn’t want him to have access to it all of the time. The other parts of his moves list are extremely fair and not necessary of a charge. Vega as charge for the most part is just nostalgia/comfort rather than what he actually needs to be.
It’s not like Guile’s Sonic Boom or Bison Scissors where it makes sense with the properties those moves tend to have to make them charge. There are plenty of strong motion based characters that are very footsie centric. 3S Chun, CVS2 Sagat any version of Rolento, A2/SFIV Rose and SFIV Elena are some to name a few. You don’t have to be charge just because you play mid range/footsies.
I like the change as it finally restricts him from playing mid range and situationally pressuring with frame traps and mix ups. Now he can truly be a ninja in his gameplay and go from offense to defense in a snap.
Or an excuse to have strong moves.
Or just a ploy to bring in more casual players.
Vega suffered in SF4 because they made his moves suck even though he was a charge character. They want to make the moves easier because they don’t want to make the moves actually better.
What about Scarlet Terror, which was invincible in ST and almost was in Ultra?
ST doesn’t need to be invincible if you could do it on the fly. It’s meant to be an AA, and because the second an opponent jumps you have to all of a sudden charge, and by the time you’re charged, they’re on top and you have no way to execute because it has no invincible start up. If you didn’t have to charge, if it had SRK motion, then the second they jump while you walk forward, ST. No need for it to be invincible, it works as it was supposed to and Vega still remains weak on the wake up game. It just becomes a lot harder to get in on him now. This is theoretical of course, but it would be a good balance to buffing the move and still having Vega remain weak in the close and wake up game.
Combofiend, bruh…Partitionless charge moves should be vega’s vtrigger. Doing a zigzag attack with ryu’s input, What the…ah.Eh.Eh.Eh.Eh lol.
Please let us use his zigzag motion, doesn’t need to have a charge on it but damn man why you gotta do this, why you do dis?
