Matador Turn only upper body invul? Seems kind of bad. Kind of really bad. He probably has one of the worst V-Skills to build meter with so far.
No mask drop it seems. In any case, was’t that something only added in CvS2 and IV?
He could lose his mask in Alpha 3. The best is when he lost from a time over, he takes the mask off and crushes it with his hand. They need to put something like that in SFV lol
This is one of the dumbest and most artificial elements of Vega’s design since SSF2. It adds literally nothing. It is a punishment for something as fundamental as blocking. Especially in SF4 when he essentially had no reversal/AA and walldives were slow as shit and backflips were garbage… he couldn’t play runaway and he definitely couldn’t hold his ground (mostly talking about divekick/rushdown chars). He was just thrown in to get the full SF2 cast, Capcom did basically nothing to address any of his flaws.
god, fuck. Can we please just drop this stupid gimmick. Other weapons characters don’t lose their shit for blocking (Rolento, Poison, Sodom in Alpha), why the hell does Vega STILL have this issue? So stupid.
I’m glad I no longer have to take 20% (?) extra damage when the mask falls off… because I already took some damage to make it fall off. This is almost as stupid as Elena having healing as an Ultra, except Vega can’t fucking get rid of it.
Thanks bro
Losing the claw from blocking is fucking stupid. I really hope that isn’t a thing in SFV.
Invincible ST was considered at one point during the early stages in ultra (ex version). But that was taken away. During testing it was deemed too good. Now I think meterless would have been too much but even with meter the super early opinions had Vega up there. Vega had a huge hole in his game there, but if you cover that, with a dp nonetheless, he would have no weakness. By default you shouldn’t be outfootsied with Vega. I would say no to DP.
Chun plays quite similar in AE 2012 and maybe ultra (I didn’t play much ultra) and she had an invincible move. She was far from broken. What’s your actual point?
He already stated his point. During location tests/testing, Vega was considered too strong so they removed the invincibility on ST. It has nothing to do with Chun and she does not play like Vega. His point is that an invincible move on Vega might be too much since his pokes already dominate the mid range and a good Vega’s focus should be to keep someone out there.
I for one always kinda hated that he was one of the few with out a GTFO move though…
Anyone else notice how his claw is hanging from his matador pants?
It might be possible to remove claw attach to pants instead of dropping it off.

yes you can sheathe the claw
I thought his moves couldn’t be more aesthetically graceful than in SF4, but here they more beautiful than ever. No FG has seen a more gorgeous HP normal. Although, as I said, it seems to start in 8 frames…
Having words about beauty is one things. Exhibiting that beauty is another thing.
Really? I thought SF4 was notorious for bland animations.
Claw loses his charge and become a motion character.
YESSSSSSSSSS!!! So happy! So HYPE!! Fuck you charging hipsters!
Sooooooooooooo
He’s not a charge character anymore apparently…
Street Fighter (StreetFighter)
Not sure I like that. I would rather have them put lower charge time ala Decapre if they want to make him more offensive.
I actually approve of claw drop. In SF2 he was the only character who had a weapon for the whole run of the series. It’s realistic for any weapon user to be disarmed when getting hit, grabbed, or pressured. I’m not making an argument in favor of realism, but the game wouldn’t be comprehensive if it didn’t have notes of realism in it.
In a way the claw is like a special move. It extends his range further, similar to a fireball. And given certain circumstances in a match, you won’t find Ryu throwing fireballs, or Guile holding charge. Cuz the game isn’t all about fireballs. It shouldn’t all be about the claw for Vega users also. I just hope we don’t see any more weapon users join the fray.
Tears
Is that your fucking trigger or something? I just like how his mask and claw fall off as the game goes by, it gives the character a unique charm. Doesn’t mean I like the effects of what happens to him but it’s definitely something I like about him.
I didn’t know Vega was going to be a motion character in this game either, just saw the Capcom UK tweet.

You know why they removed it? Because people bitched that they don’t know how to fight Vega anymore. They actually had to think for once, and can’t just derp jump and pressure him all day. What’s that? Cross up eats ST alive? Oh? Jump over and break the charge? Deerrrrrrp.
It’s a fucking down back charging move (until Omega) and if you can’t figure out how to break charge then you’re fucking up as a SF player. Boxer has good buttons too, and gets to charge DOWN with no regards to cross up at all, gets to hit low, meaty, and air attacks, AND GETS A FREE U1 OFF IT!
Reversal attacks should only, ONLY reset a situation back to neutral. It should never allow you to capitalize for huge damage on top of that. That’s about 3 or 4 things Vega can’t do off ST.
Not a charge character anymore…?
I can’t quite tell yet, but I think I like that.
He just got a huge buff. You guys have no idea. Walk forward special attacks or walk forward low hit confirm cancels. On the fly special attacks, on the fly CA, on the fly v.trigger… He can now poke, walk backwards, walk forward, and poke again without a worthless special coming out. He can poke, walk forward, light attack, special. This is huge, his mobility increased tenfold. Someone at Capcom does really love me!
Thank you, my Capcom angel. Thank you tears
