Nah, it’s fine to complain if they take away things that make the character fun. I was really happy with how he was. I do hope he’ll still end up fun and good.

Discovered that Vega’s command grab is pretty much worthless. He can be jabbed out for free even the EX version. The only way right now to make it work is off of a stance change and mixup when you’re going to do the cr.MP or (obviously) you’ve conditioned them to stop mashing.

Damn that cr.HP Crush Counter nerf…

Damn… I felt like the only way I was able to land command grab was off of st.hp xx stance change because I could also get a CH cr.lk. If its very minus on block I’m not sure where we are supposed to land it. What’s Vega’s best normal on block and how plus is it? St.lk maybe?

Best normal would be st.HP (Claw on) st.HP with the Claw off has too much push back.

Edit up close st.lk is +2 on block. Command grab is 6 frame start up… 4 frame gap ugh.

Nah, SFXTK was similar (charge down, up + PPP). Just think of the CA as a super Sky High Claw, because that’s what it pretty much is.

The fact that Vega can now hit with his v trigger on crouchers is HUUUUGE

I want to hit LOL and Agree on this post. The buff to V-Trigger is massive. Any poke into V-Trigger than Super is easily 50%. I hope he can V-Trigger off of t.HP tho. That would be really nice.

If they removed that crush counter what CC normal did they give him as a replacement?

C.HP is his best AA imo it was very good at building v meter because it was a CC

I think we got off pretty easy considering how good Vega was in the beta. He was easily top-tier in 2nd beta.

Safer F+HP is pretty huge, especially since I believe that it’s his new Crush Counter in later builds. Yea losing c.HP Crush Counter definitely sucks, it was amazing, but if we gain F+HP crush counter I’m not losing sleep over it. Not QUITE as good but still strong, you’re more able to guess on a poke at max range and if it counter-hits, you might be able to get a V-Trigger or super or EX FBA or at least a slide. Still useful as a close-range combo fishing move, but requires a bit more commitment than c.HP did. Before I would do stuff like c.MK or s.MP or just jab into c.HP fishing for crush counters lol.

Not being able to combo EX FBA after QBC HP isn’t a huge deal to me. I found juggling into/AAing with EX Walldive in general very awkward and it often lead to you being unable to followup with claw slashes OR izuna drop either way. It just knocked them way too high up unless you AA’d at a very specific angle/height with QCB HP. I’m just happy that juggling into V-Trigger is still very consistent.

Obviously being able to hit crouchers with standing V-Trigger is HUGE I don’t even need to explain why. But I will add, Vega doesn’t need to take much damage to get V-Trigger and if you’re hitting with target combo then he winds up getting like 3 Triggers per round.

The only nerf I’m really going to feel is stand fierce into stance change. I don’t think I will mind it being unsafe, should be fine if I space it so that I’m out of range (tho IIRC cancel out of s.HP moves forward like a kara-cancel), but I do feel that stand fierce xx remove claw > BH c.MP is a big nerf he didn’t deserve. Without that combo, Vega’s damage is very meh like in SF4. It was fun because, in exchange for maximum damage, Vega was forced to commit to the rush down stance for a bit. And because everyone just teched every knockdown, just switching right back after the EX Roll/Izuna Drop knocks down wasn’t actually a safe option. At best you lose momentum to them pressing buttons on teched wakeup, at worse you actually got punished for stance-switching on their wakeup. I personally liked just doing target combo off of s.HP for most of the round, then trying to end it with a stand HP stance switch for either the hitconfirm into MK Roll then threaten with command grab, or just mixup on blocked s.HP xx stance switch. I think this is something I’ll miss and I hope they’ll revert it, but Vega will probably still be very strong without it.

He’s always had two CC’s. cr.HP and st.HK. So, now he just has st.HK…

Wait, I just wanted to make sure. Is that BH s.HP, BH c.MP? Or claw s.HP xx SC, BH c.MP? 'Cuz if it’s the former, then we still have hard to medium SC combos.

And we’re losing hard to medium links. So I guess we’re supposed to link from hard into lights. We lose out on the damage because we lose linking into BH c.MP xx MK CT. So we’ll be linking into c.LP xx LK CT.

If that’s the case, I propose they make MP ASE a little faster on startup so that claw c.LP xx MP ASE is possible. That way, we can link into that to retain some of the damage that was lost.

With the link nerfs on BH I really have to wonder what the point of it is.

st.mk, cr.mp was my favorite meaty combo. That really sucks. Oh well.

I hope st.hp xx SC, BH cr.mp xx MK CT still works. It only did 230 damage =P It was an average combo lol.
