Unfortunately, I think it’s both of them.

Since c.MP can’t be linked from s.LK and s.MK any more, its startup was probably increased from 5 to 6 frames, like its claw on counterpart.
And since s.HP xx SC was +5 on hit… Yeah, it’s gone too.

Now, they could increase the hit advantage of s.HP xx SC from +5 to +6, but then it opens up the possibility to link to Matador Blitz again, so I doubt they would do that.
And if s.HP xx SC is really that negative on block, we can’t even go fishing for counterhits without taking a huge risk.

In his current form, Switch Claw combos seem to be gone, except as counterhit punishes after a blocked Shoryuken.

By the way, I totally agree with you for medium ASE. I am in love with that move, and I think he should be able to use it as a combo finisher, leaving CT for BH mode.

I am having a hard time understanding the direction Capcom is going with this game, I know all the changes and additions they are bringing to SF5 but I can’t connect the dots on a coherent matter, is it because we are actually experiencing all the changes to the game as the time goes by unlike SF4?

So, what’s the point now of bare handed stance?? Why would I change to it, ever? That’s if these nerfs stick.

Anyway, does anyone find MT useless when you don’t attack with hit? Perhaps it should be tap v.skill for short MT is full body invincible but not throw invincible like CvS2’s S-Groove dodge. Hold it in for our current MT. Or simply remove holding it in and simply tapping it gives you the entire attack.

Yeah I originally thought his v-skill was gonna be like the s-groove dodge, with the followup attack being similar to dodge> s.fp but it has a lot of recovery without the followup attack so i guess it’s just for avoiding fireballs and standing pokes, I think it’ll be useful against Sim for example, or against moves like Vega’s f.hp and Mika’s dropkick. Outside of that and ending target combos tho I’m drawing a blank

Might still be able to dodge normally unpunishable moves though. Like dodging 2nd hit of Birdies ex bull rush

It still has quite a bit of startup and can’t really be done on reaction. And against Mika’s dropkick you may as well neutral jump it for a full combo rather than V-Skill. I honestly think the V-Skill is there as another anti fullscreen fireball move and maybe used as a Yomi tool.

Yes, I know he has 2 CCs because every other character has 2 CCs as well. If they removed one then another heavy normal has to take its place as a Crush Counter. I’ve been told that his f+Fierce is his new Crush Counter normal. If that’s the case then with the other buff it received it might be useful to use it in the neutral game now. I’m wondering if it causes a spin or crumple knock down but given the recovery of it in general I would prefer a crumple knockdown like Nash’s f+Fierce CC. You could probably do something like f+Fierce CC, dash EX wall dive, V-Trigger among other things.

Tested out some things:

cr.HP (with or without the Claw) is a really bad AA against Shoto jump HK. Only works if you’re at max range.

A better AA in that situation would be a really early EX Izuna Drop. Or you could slide under them and do whatever.

Capcom shouldn’t have let us play the game rapt, because now we can physically see their ineptitude as the fans progresses lol

Anyway, does anyone else think that Vega should be able to throw is mask off like in SFIV? Make it cost one bar and make it so you cant pick it up once thrown away.

Regarding the buffs and nerfs… Don’t get so excited just yet. Game has a good amount of time before release. If he’s gimped come February, then yell things.

Yup, Karin also only has one CC. Honestly I think that’s the only one she needs any ways. Safe at farther ranges and her charged V Skill has a lot of range and is safe on block as well (plus comboing into standard V Skill).

I would imagine Vega has a second crush counter though. For the most part characters usually get one crush counter that’s only useful for AA and then another that’s better for grounded purposes. Right now if Vega doesn’t get something other than s.HK AA he doesn’t have any grounded footsie CC which is pretty much a requirement for building V Gauge in the neutral now.

Making f.HP a CC would be a pretty good alternative, as far as building V-meter goes. It supports the idea of Vega having the best set of footsie tools in the game. This would also make clawless mode feel even more inferior.

Are those colors from ppl playing with the sliders or officially in the game? If so then I like 4 and 9 the best

i came over here from the vega thread after they gave him a good dicking. i was hoping ryu would fair better… doesn’t look good lol. anyone else feel like they are making each character the same with the same hit confirms, same 1 in 2 combos, etc? finding it hard to pick a character that fits my playstyle

Pity that they can’t give us a white/silver-haired Vega.
