Apparently the most current build/plan still has EX Roll as +4 on hit as it has been. This was the line in Japanese for the move:
ヒット時の硬直差を「+2」に
I believe that says “hit time” for the RCF and something about +2 , I assuming changing to +2
This apparently is wrong according to cubano loco, who talked to combofiend directly about it.
Looks like you’ll have to find something else to whine about, but its going to be hard to find something more trivial than EX.RCF combos.
EX RCF being nerfed is totally dumb and unnecessary.
If its actually +2 on block instead of on hit… that would be cool. But alone it won’t make Claw competitive.
Currently, if I am going to keep playing this game its for competitive purposes. I want to go to tournaments and win shit.
If Claw is going to hinder my chances even more than it does now… I will quit. I don’t care about this game to the point of actually learning another character in order to have a better chance of winning. If I want to win, its going to be with Claw. If thats is not possible, then fuck it, I’m done.
If you are someone that likes to be fighting against the odds. Thats fine. But don’t try to be funny at the ones that do not appreciate it and want a fair shot at winning a major.
That’s really the heart of the issue. I said from the get-go (not here, tho, I don’t think anyways) that while those Ultra buffs would have been broke in AE, in a game like Ultra Vega needs it to stay competitive because everyone is getting crazy buffs. The fact that Vega is going to be basically the same in Ultra as he was in AE is a HUGE problem. Imagine AE2012, but almost every matchup is worse now… He was already a kind of mediocre/lowmid character that was barely hanging on, he’s always had some very big and obvious holes in his a game, and they’re just doing nothing about it…

If they’re going to remove that combo then they need to compensate with new ones. Like meterless ST juggle, CH to 2x ST, st.LK special cancelable, and so on. Too bad we’ll not get anything. Probably just more nerfs. I hope Vega’s next costume is a Nerf claw and mask.

mmmm Vega will be fine, he lost his “nice to haves”.
The usf4 mechanics all help vega to some extent, though.
Neutral game will be more important in ultra and that is where vega shines.
I do find the much discussed EX-RCF nerf somewhat ridicilous though, there is literally no reason to nerf that if he didnt get buffed like crazy in other areas like before.
Not that the EX-RCF is hugely important to vega, but losing options is never a good thing if you dont get much of anything in return.
Do you think quckly tapping red focus at level 1 and backdashing will help escape midscreen pressure?
edit: nevermind, this wouldnt be better than focus backdashing unless you were hoping for a counterhit
Why would you waste the meter on that anyway? RF is going to be crap because everyone and their mothers will use their non-meter special Focus breakers anyway. People are going to rely on different tools. Only idiots are going to get hit by Red Focus once everyone is use to the mechanic.
Which reminds me, against Red Focus we’re pretty screwed unless we have down back charge or the player is an idiot and does it in a range we can back dash/back slash out of.
I don’t know why everyone thinks DWU is the 2nd coming. Seriously, all it means is people are going to learn to deal with it and change their pressure string timing. It won’t make a huge difference for Vega unless the player is an idiot and decides he’s just going to mash cr.HK or something. Anyone else with short start up jabs with good hit boxes like Cammy can still mash that shit or whiff dive kick and mash on jab anyway.
I don’t think the new mechanics are going to be enough to help Vega compared to him losing AE buffs and having lost all his good Ultra buffs. Vega is fucked in Ultra.
th point of DWU is to stop ambiguous setups. them changing pressure strings means nothing, you KNOW where the attacks coming from. so in a way, it’s a big deal for many characters
Though I seriously think you guys are underestimating how much DWU hurts Vega’s offense. Corpse hopping is nerfed. Safe jumps are nerfed. EX FBA cross ups are nerfed. Izuna loop is nerfed.
This in addition to his already almost non-existent offense. I mean seriously, why bother? It’s like playing Dhalsim, but without the range, or the zoning ability.
Obviously, we’re not doing it right because apparently Japan thinks buffing Vega any amount makes him too strong… As if he had an unblockable, an invincible reversal, the ability to FADC an invincible reversal, a reliable cross over, a 3 frame link, a blockstring, a 3 frame normal, average stun, average health, could easily combo into ultra without landing a trade or focus crumple, hitboxes that surround hurtboxes…
I mean it’s not like any other characters can do half those things either right?
It’s okay though. Our Kara throw range and pokes with +2 on block at best more than make up for all of this.

You guys can go on and keep playing this game if you want. I dropped it after AE2012 because of this exact same bullshit… having to work so much harder than the opponent for the same results. USF4 isn’t going to make it any easier, and I have more fun things I can play.
