I’m going to give that a try, too!
Yea, as soon i read that i went ahead and gave it a shot. My mind can’t process how it would work
If Bebop or anyone else can pull this off, i will divide by 0
Hey if nothing else man you got all of us on the wagon trying new shit out.
Just so no one gets confused, to my knowledge, this is a kara cancel. Basically, you’re using the EX walldive to kara, then you’re canceling into his ultra. So, you get something that looks like Vega knocking the opponent upwards (beginning of the EX walldive), but when he hits the wall, he does his ultra. This is the supposed input:
db, df, d, db, uf + kk, k
The last kick has to come out almost immediately after the first 2. I think there’s a frame of difference between the last 2 inputs; similar to Abel’s kara ultra setup. Unfortunately, I don’t have the console version, else I’d be testing this rigorously. Good luck everyone!
but will the ultra connect?
Didn’t know that you didn’t have the console version, hope you can get it soon.
Anywho, this sounds pretty interesting.
Several sources I’ve spoke with have theorized that it “should” hit; given that the intial hit of the EX walldive puts your opponent in a “float state” rather than the awkward juggle state they’re in after a scarlett terror.
But as far as this, I have no clue if the ultra will connect; which is why I held off on announcing the existence of this technique.
Further notes:
Sanchez, the pimpest Bison player in the Western Hemisphere, spoke with S-Kill about the workings of kara ultras (Balrog’s EX dash straight xx ultra, Abel’s EX rekka xx ultra, Gief’s EX run grab thing xx ultra). While discussing these things, Seth told Sanchez that he doesn’t think kara ultras are JUST armor dependent, but also, COLLISION DEPENDENT. This only strenghthens my resolve that Vega’s kara ultra is completely possible.
if it is possible…
oh the possibilities…
cr.mp into cr.mk, isnt that supposed to work the other way round? i just tried cr.MPcrMK and i couldnt get it to work. are you trolling me?
Given the number of times that EX wall dive is used every round, this would be HUGE.
I’m on it. Will report any findings later.
It’s a lot harder than it sounds (and it sounds tough enough already =P)
I tried for about 45 minutes, but all I kept getting were EX’s and ultras on their own. I’ll try again later when I get back from class.
But can you really kara it? By the time the EX hits, aren’t you already considered “airborne”? I don’t know the Abel kara ultra setup tho, so I’ll go see how that works before I try again.
Good shit, bro. I’ve got the day off, so I’ll get to crackin’ on this. I’ll let you guys know if I find anything out.
db, df, d, db, uf + kk, k doesn’t seem like the correct input to me. From the Balrog thread:
The problem with Vega is that db, df, d, db, uf + kk doesn’t give an EX walldive, it gives a super. So I think the input needs to be more like:
charge DB, UF, DB+KK, UF+K
However, this makes Vega jump to the wall behind him rather than behind his opponent. The combo’s in there somewhere, we’re very close but I think the motion needs a bit of tweaking.
Cue someone posting a video of them doing it just below me
edit: after further testing, it appears that if you do the db,df,db,uf motion slowly and press KKK, the ultra will come out but if you do it at the same speed and press KK you get an EX walldive. So maybe if you do the ultra motion as slowly as the game will allow, you might get some joy that way. That said, I’ve been in training mode for hours with no success. I hope it’s just because my execution stinks.
Alright time to test this baby, good luck to the rest of the narcissistic brethren trying this out.
I’ll give this a try even though I’m still pretty bad. Being able to link into the Ultra would be huge though, right now, my Ultras are basically only useful to people spamming projectiles and jumping around too much.
ahem
No.
The input I posted is how it’s supposed to be done, if it’s at all possible. The Balrog motion for his kara ultra doesn’t apply; not even in the slightest.
Also, if you’re getting a super for doing this input, it means you forgot to turn off infinite SC gauge. Doing the input I suggested, with a full SC gauge, will always end up giving you his super (same as the Abel kara).
IMPORTANT REMINDER:
You should ALWAYS be attempting this with 3 or less EX bars.
!!!GOOD LUCK GENTLEMEN!!!
edit: If only I had a console.
Also, when doing this motion:
:db:, :df:, :d:, :db:, :uf: + :k:x2, :k:
remember that you most likely only have 1 frame to kara the EX (:k:x2) into the ultra (last :k:)
So, basically, the input between the :k:x2 and the :k: have to be incredibly fast. Almost seemless…
Once again, if only I had a console
Ahhhhhhh, that makes sense. Obviously I had the infinite gauge on. Off to try again.
Sounds good Bebop, thanks for the tips. Will give this a shot later, and report back to everyone. Hoping someone can crack this though!
Trying…
