Quick question for veteran vega (or charge) players in general,
How do precharge work?
Like… i’ve heard people hold D/B, then Cosmic Heel, f,b,f+3K for U2?
Also, cosmic heel into ST, is that just a pure timing thing? like Cosmic Heel, DB charge, f+K? Or can you pre charge into this?
for the CH to Ultra the command you’re gonna do is : db(charge)> df.HK>db>df+KKK
what you’re basically doing is just the same Ultra motion but add a HK with the first f motion. Doing Blanka’s Hop to Ultra1 is practically the same thing (back charge, f+KKK,b,f+PPP). You can Input any buttons while doing the Ultra’s (f,b,f) motions as long as you finish it right.
You cant precharge CH to ST coz when you do the CH you’ll lose the db charge, this one is mostly timing. My suggestion is picking Guile to practice against and and then try to do the f.HK motion right when he’s about to hit the ground, its odd at first as it’ll look like it shouldnt hit coz theyre too close to the ground but it’ll hit anyway. idk if this helps but there’s some sort of dust cloud that appear under Guile right about the time you should be doing f+HK for the ST.
How different is st.hk as an AA in Super as opposed to Vanilla? You say you’re very successful with it, but have you tried it against cross up jump ins? What does he have as an AA outside of SC, or can people jump in on him for free when he doesn’t have Ultra?
Also, can SC hit those who safe jump?
I’m asking this because I don’t have the game unfortunately, so I can’t test it out on my own. If Vega does have a strong [reliable] AA, I’d most definitely consider going back to him.
s.HK is exactly the same, crappy for close jump ins and cross ups but decent for far Jump ins. I dont think its changed but I’m having more luck with HK/EX ST in super as an AA, I even beat some shoto jump-ins o_0
I havent tested it yet but so far my experience with SC is that if they jump in and press anything even if theyre almost on the ground theyre fucked. I’ll test it by Friday if no one does it by that time.
Hmm i guess it’s character dependant then…because even in regular sf4, s.hk works against gief too depending on the angles. When i tested it in super, i actually tested it against ryu and some other characters (not many) but they still beat my s.hk pretty easily.
It really sucks my xbox is messed up again…i only played this game for like 2 days!!!
Considering it was given by a Capcom employee and SRK purposely didn’t post anything whatsoever about it even though it happened in the main channel we all hang out in… I think spreading it further just means a higher chance of the guy getting fired and us losing an inside source that gives a shit about stuff like this.
Yes, I have downloaded it. I would say that unless you are an absolute frame junkie, you’d be better off waiting for someone to throw up all the info on the wiki in all honesty. There’s nothing shocking or surprising or that we didn’t already know, pretty much.
I posted teh Izuna drop and Rolling Izuna Drop ones, and as for normals, I think it’s safe to say all standing and crouchign claw attacks only have their hitboxes reach up to about half the length of the claw itself, while the kick moves go all the way, and then some.
I didn’t mean to be misleading. I never meant that there was any difference between st HK than it was before. I just happened to be good with it once I tried it out. If they jump at you at cross up range I still need to test things out cause I don’t think hk will ever win unless they use a non cross up move and you attack them behind.
So in essence his AA game is still the same except with SC people are going to be alot less likely to do an early attack with a jump in. I use SC on reaction sometimes when I see an air attack. It is quite an effective AA. Given that, if you are just walking you cant use it but you can focus on his other AA moves, like jump back RH/fierce, air grab, or walk back and use the main three moves st hk, st fierce, cr fierce.
Most characters can just duck and attack as an AA. Since Vega is so fast he just has to move back (or forward) and then use an AA instead of just crouching, which isn’t a problem for me really. Since the three moves have different angles and hit boxes they won’t get stuffed by the same moves. St hk is the main AA to use though as it has good priority at the leg and foot, and very nice range, and comes out quick in 4 frames.
Don’t remember if you do could this in vanilla, but I just discovered st.lk, st. lk, st. hk all connects for a nice lil four-hit link combo for Vega. If this is old news, sorry in advance
Hey guys I played Arturo today and he beat me 3-1. Couldn’t beat Dhalsim and beat his Seth once. He teched every single throw. I sent him a message asking him just how he does it so hopefully he can resp[ond and I can share some knowledge.
Also I disagree with the “Vega is still ass” statement. He is clearly better than his SF4 counterpart by a significant margin. The EX FBA hitbox buff is huge, changes everything. No longer do I need to worry about how I’m going to hit confirm in every different matchup. I would say something like “he’s middle of the pack” but I have no idea where everyone else is right now. Even Dudley is nowhere near as big a problem as I thought he would be. Ibuki too. Vega because of this buff is one of the highest damaging characters in the gam.e
And wtf? I honestly lol @ the “Balrog is such a garbage matchup still” talk. Guys, Balrog DIDN’T get changed and Vega got BETTER. Including, an OVERHEAD, and an INVINCIBLE WAKEUP. Now you can actually do damage to Balrog, lol.
Plus EVERYONE’s damage got reduced BUT Vega’s, AND the mask and claw got buffed. How do you think Vega is still so bad? Baffles my mind. I’m on cloud nine, constantly scraping everyone who plays me, it’s great. SSF4 ftw.
Honestly Comparing SSf4 Vega to Vanilla Vega is stupid, like obviously he got better coz he could only go up from that shitty ass version of him. Yeah he got an overhead that does abysmal damage and cant do anything after it except dash away… great. He got an Ultra thats actually useful…awesome, EX FBA actually does what its supposed to do now… Amazing. He lost the stupid penalty that never made sense in the 1st place… incredible.
But he still has all his major flaws in Super; the shitty wake up, no actual AA, no Invincibility frames, the garbage flips, the FBA landing lag , Slow ass Rolls and all that nonsense. hell he even got some new ones like the half-assed U1 Launch and how Big character specific combos also work on him for whatever reason.
Rog’s damage is still the same btw and he got a buff now that he cant be grabbed out of the Dash punches.
LOL@ Vega being one of the highest damaging characters in the game, Most of the characters can do the same damage WITHOUT EX meter… How does him being able to do the same damage with 1 EX bar make him one of the highest damaging characters?
To me Vega is perfectly how I want him to be. EX FBA fix, mask/claw fix, POM, and U2 make all my matches seem fair. When I lose I no longer feel cheated, I feel like it was my fault. I actually made a turtle start playing offensively after I whittled down like 25% of his life with POM, felt great haha.
I’m not saying Vega went up tiers or that I wouldn’t get owned by good players, but I no longer feel unfairly gimped or handicapped. If you’re still complaining about Vega at this point, really, play another character.
