Vega Combos & Glitches

THIS

prima is ass

Does Cat-K play PSN or XBL?

Pick up Juri =)

I’ve, more or less, officially dropped Vega in Super (I actually ended up dropping him for Cammy around the end of my Vanilla days). Though I might go back to him if he ends up becoming a stronger character than he is now (right now, he seems mediocre at best).

Regardless, I’ll be messing around with him in training mode, and if I do find something worth noting, I’ll definitely post it up. =)

The links feel different. when i play 4. jabs don’t link as well as they do for me in super. i don’t need math to tell me its the same. it feels different. Chalk it up to having refreshing new moves and old tactics improved with vega. AKA confidence. But it is different

I too feel some kind of difference, but we still have no proof that the jab link window has been increased to 2 frames.

nah we won’t know until i see the official stuff. I don;t know what it is. I don;t do it any differently than in Vanilla, but it just doesn’t seem to drop like it used to. Maybe I just flat out improved on execution. or again, like i said due to hype, the rumor has given us confidence in grasping the beauty of Vega.

Neverminds…

<< new to this thread, sup all… I can relate to this ^ Claw definitely feels different, like he was streamlined or something. His links and overall movement sorta just flow now. Can’t wait for that frame listing!

Also a lot of new players picked up the game it seems, seeing as there’s an overabundance of scrubs online lol. Between that and claws buffs I’m definitely feeling more confident.

Not too sure about this… i was tired when it happened and havent tested it but i think i whiffed a c.mp xx exfba against a crouching ibuki…

could have been just missing the cancel or something due to tiredness
will try when i get home from work

No, cr.mp xx EX-FBA WILL NOT HIT ON CROUCHERS AT MAXIMUM RANGE.

FOR STANDING, YES, BUT NOT FOR CROUCHING.

Yeah links are if not easier so at least different because my success rate for cr.lp x4 has gone through the roof. I’m having a harder time landing Izuna drops now but i guess it’s just some timing change that i need to get used to.

Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap, ex flying move!!!
Tap tap tap tap tap tap, other person focuses attack, ex flying move!!!

Vega wasn’t a terribile character, infact I think his jumping hard claw has less range now but hes not even played like he used to in past games.

Are you making sure to use the mk version of FBA? mk launches Vega up at the same height as in Vanilla. I was using lk (which launches you lower to the wall) and was having the same problem as you were. Now with mk I land izuna consistently like in Vanilla.

Well since I haven’t been on much I have been testing alot of things with Vega for which I will give the results of here.

  1. I tested to see and comprised a list of how effective Vega’s st lk -> cr lp -> cr mp -> ex FBA is on the whole cast. This has very surprising results. It is very effective and can be a very powerful tool on many characters. During this testing I have also noted on which characters the cr mp into EX FBA will miss on at max range even if you can’t use the st lk combo.

ONLY EIGHT characters will NOT get hit by cr mp EX FBA at max range but everyone can get hit by cr lp -> ex fba which means cr mp -> ex fba at cr lp range WILL work. However sometimes in the corner sometimes it the Ex FBA won’t link for some odd reason.

  1. I am currently testing Vega’s AA options once again. I am at the beginning of my testing for this and am finding st hk to be extremely effective, compared to everything else Vega has.

  2. I am also currently testing strategies with the Izuna drop and FBA.

Could you always combo c.MK, c.MK ? It seems this is new to me.

I havent been playing so if you find anything good for an AA, let me know!
hmm its interesting that you mention st.hk though…cuz thats the first thing i tested out the first day but the results werent good for me. It got beat very often, pretty much the same as the old sf4.

Only on counterhit.

@buddhas weapon- Yea I was playing against a pretty good Zangief today and this matchup was so much easier that it was actually very enjoyable. Everytime Zangief jumped he ate a st HK, which beat or traded with him. However other times I used st HP and cr HP depending on when he attacked and the angle. I was very successful with about 90% my AA attempts.

I didn’t save any of those videos for some odd reason, but Ill guess one of these days ill have to show you. I also dominated Cody’s air attacks using st HK as an AA.

I think that the reason I have been so successful was because I have been using Ibuki lately, and she is so dam slow walking, that when I switched to Vega I felt very fast. Then when people jump I just walk back which is very fast and use one of the three moves. Since Ibuki is not a charge character I was playing Vega like that and it proved to be very useful not worrying about charges. If you already have a charge for ST then using it when they are far up can also add to your repertoire but its more useful if you have splendid claw in case they go for a preemptive attack.

If they jump at you where they will cross up I haven’t tested that yet. What I am hoping that I will be able to do is walk under or dash under. I do the slide with ibuki and sometimes just command dash or focus dash.

Oh yeah I don’t know if this has been mentioned yet but there is a shortcut for splendid claw that makes it easier for me because I suck at inputting forward back forward for some dam reason. Since its so easy I can always do it on reaction to opponents attacks, especially jumpins. Diagonal left, slide to diagonal right, slide to diagonal left, slide to diagonal right, kkk.

I have been catching good players with SC all the time. It is way more useful the BHC was and is now. I never miss SC, and on the rare occassions that I do miss, I slide away from the corner at full screen.

Can anyone explain how to do the j. fierce to BHC? I’ve seen a few posts saying it’s possible but I couldn’t figure it out.

The mystery is finally solved.
