Ah, good call. I kept trying to link cr.jab and cr.mp into ST ><
cr. lp has some really good combos off of it you can cr. lp x3 xx RCF for a good chunk and it pushes opponents back a ton, or cr. lp once or twice into ex barcelona
and cr. mk into ST im pretty sure is a much better option then the “patente” combo ( lolol ) anyway its an extra 30 damage 50 less stun, but honestly how often are you stunning people as vega, i know im only stunning morons
cool strat for rushdown style vega is to do cr. lp x3 into RCF then cosmic heel over and over again mixing in a throw whenever possible, and yeah i know theirs holes in this where you can srk but its nice to mix it in with your poking game to keep people off balance
Well I just posted this because it wasn’t in the “combo thread” and this is a combo, anything that can be learned in addition I think is for the better of a very weak character.
And this is a situational combo, can you tell me how do you combo c.mk ST in a crouching RYU or any other character his height!!?? The ST whiffs even completely near, just the Ex ST combo, this combo is to punish footsies and things you wasn’t counting in and you don’t have time to charge the ST, and once again, een if you land a jumping fierce in a crouching character, ST will not combo, and of course, if I have Ex bar, i will do Ex Wall Dive.
So your mindless flaming about an act of good faith to my fellow Vega comrads is out of line, if you have a better non Ex, EASY combo that you use in the same situation you can use this one, fine, do it and let us know in order to evolve our skills, but een a monkey can do c.MK s.HK, but many people will fail to combo consistently any c.lp to either another one or c.MP combo, specially against a top player, not in training mode.
If you want to refute my comments, please give appropiate reasons and options and situations.
Just my two cents, and no, i’m not mad or anything like that this is just a video game and i’m just trying to get better with Vega.
Peace
i wasnt flaming you, just putting in my opinion, if you cant handle people not sharing your opinions then i wouldnt post it, even now im not being a dick im just being honest
i dont see how the skill level of an opponent changes your ability to pull of combos, if you can hit him with the first hit it shouldnt matter if your hitting a flow chart ken or a top level tournament player, you should be able to link into the rest of the combo
any time you can hit a cr. mp that would combo into st. hk then you can connect with cr. lp xx RCF which is a better option ( pushes opponent to wall, leaves you in range to df. rh and get your offence going again ) and ive never had a cr. mk xx ST whiff on someone since ive picked up vega
if you want to get better with vega you need to know a couple of things
-
your damage output isnt anything special, you need to milk his combos for all the damage they have, you cant waste any opportunities to bring your opponents life down, once your mask comes off you go down faster then anyone and that is going to happen and this only makes what i said more important
-
vega is a high risk low reward fighter, alot of his moves have retarded frame disadvantages on block and that means you get punished hard for messing up, you cant throw out wall dives all day and win, you need to weigh the risks of every move you do because each one could cost you the match
-
vega is about mind games and being unpredictable, alot of newer vega players sit on db charge all day, get in the habit of db charging during jumps, block strings, and during your flips
-
vega is very versatile when played properly, vega can poke, zone ( shittily ), and rushdown ( unsafely ), you need to learn when to do each one, one thing i personally find to be his greatest asset is his poking game which is made much better by mixing in some rushdown tactics here and there and occasionally zoning with his pokes and ST
Patente has his points. Cr. MK into s.HK is easier and requires no charge. It’s also better for the footsie game since there is no charge required.
Also, his method is very safe and easy. You can just throw out cr.MK into s.HK without going into hit-confirming.
Obviously cr. MP into RCF is better… but the weird charging time for RCF may throw you off.
Dont worry Jarek, I wasnt talking about you, it was dreadz that commented it was a useless combo.
Nice pointers and overall strat for playing Vega, but anyway, maybe my SF4 version is different or something, or the setup changes properties ( 42 inch Plasma wide screen connected via component cable) but my ST’s whiffs on crouching characters, completely close, even without a hit before, so maybe you dont play to many ryu or everytime you hit the they are standing, but if they are crouch, it will whiff.
And the player example I gave was regarding presure situations in which you have very little life, and c.LP c.MP RCF kills the character, but you are playing a SRK happy guy that wants to hit them in between all your missed combos, are you going to risk missing this hard link!? If you dont find it hard, my props to you, it doesn.t matter how many hours I spent in training mode, its difficult to me lto link this hits, and just to have a background on my gaming skills, I Hae played almost every fighting game, and vega has ery strict combo window to link this hits, and I used to play CvS2 and do all the “hard” stuff, MvC2 and play MSP or do insane Sentinel Combos that requires to be very fast and accurate, as well as Tekken 5, Third Strike, all of these at a competitie level, but I keep getting frutrated that at least with vega the timing is akward and I still dont get it, compared to chars like Boxer, Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Rufus, even Abel with his strict link windows in foward MK.
Well maybe im a SF4 scrub, hehe
i agree his link timings are assininely hard but ive been spending at least 2 hours a day playing with vega for like a month now and it seems like im not struggling with them anymore
against srk happy opponents this defenitly has some good uses, and whoever posted about its uses during footsies was spot on, i usually forget about footsies with vega because he cant have any fun with knock downs
becuz it is useless. u can do c.mk->mp RCF which combos on crouching opponents.
only use i see for c.mk->st.hk is if u have no charge. and even you have to be pretty damn close to their body.
if i have no charge and i do a c.mk id rather follow up with c.mp which combo’s, and i can also follow up the c.mp with ex sky claws cross up to mix things up.
I found this works alright when you’re rushing someone, don’t have meter, and messed up the charge partitioning to hk.ST.
df.hk-> st.mp -> kara throw as soon as he lands.
Hello.
Just a few things I’d like to confirm that the j. FP crossup does work on Zangief, but as stated the positioning has to be… surgically… precise.
Also, I don’t know if this was brought up and as like situational and like not very common at all it is if you trade hits with EX Izuna the opponent gets launched and you go into hit stun on the ground recovering in enough time to air grab, hit them etc… Would it be possible to Ultra them on the way down. I tried to put it in practice in training mode but I didn’t have enough time this morning, and like I said I know it’s extremely I guess pointless even.
Just trying to make lemonade out of lemons. -_-
At this point its more like trying to make lemonade out of apples.
Totally impossible.
i think people should stop worrying about pseudo cross-ups and should try to grasp the rushdown aspect of vega.
rushdown vega is scary to alot of players and makes them feel useless. embrace it.
Yea, pretty much.
That’s generally how I play my Vega unless it’s a match-up that calls for staying back and poking. Meaty jumpins beat out a lot of things on wake-up reversal is what I’ve noticed. Just looking at a what-if scenario one of those never know it may come in handy 1 time out of 10000.
While it’s not as practical to put into use as an EX Wall Dive xx Ultra, it’s worth mentioning because it may work. Again I never said it was practical, just possible.
This is a thing I am slowly beginning to realize, too. Against strong opponents, I often get intimidated and try to be the more defensive type with Vega, but I think that just doesn’t suit him. When I win a tough fight, then it’s 80% because in the middle of the match I start playing the rushdown monster. And man, you’re right, they get fucking scared and let themselves open for tick throws, rcf meaties, vega dancing around, “yuuu…” and all that.
It’s still not a bad idea to just pull off once for a while though.
Hey, cool tactic I’ve been working with lately, if ever you land a Cosmic Heel, follow up with anything but C. RH, as it’ll force them to stand, than quickly dash in front of them and grab them. catches alot of people off guard, nice alternative to EX. FBA if you don’t have meter
sigh
Nobody reads my posts
embrace the rushdown
rushdown vega is whats getting me all my wins as of late
sorry dude
I was just kidding, npm man. It’s sort of funny that we had the same idea and posted it at exactly the same day in exactly the same thread lol
