for what ever reason Ive read in this thread that you should only use the single backflip, and to avoid getting hit on wake up just hold dwn back I never get smashed out of wake up like that.
Yeah, I had actually gotten my advice so far from that very post, but it’s not working very well against the better Bisons I’ve been up against. I think the problem is mine, though, now that I’ve had more time in that matchup. I think I’m getting too predictable, because somehow he short scissors my c. mp and manages to get some cross-up action on me. Before I know it I’m in the corner.
I also don’t backflip very much, so I probably need to work that into my strategy, too.
Hmm… Im trying to do it and not getting a reversal message. Dont know what Im doing wrong.
Double backflip is probably a lot better than single. I’d probably use single in the corner, but at full and mid screen range, I’d use double. Most of the time, double backflip does fuck up people’s timing and you get free throw if they walk up(or free flipkick).
To be honest, at those ranges I specified, double backflip is your best wakeup option at all times. Not only because of the fact that people are gonna fish for the wakeup flipkick, but you also reset the distance for you poking game.
I need a good strategy vs. Hawk. He is a pain in this game. Check out this video.

That’s not me playing, but thats what basically happens to me every time. I need to know what to/what not to do against this guy.
Out turtle him. Dont wall dive except with punch (yay free damage and not punishable). dont be predictable since psychic Dp wins. KKK flip out of ticks
i need to stop giving away secrets to beat hawk
Don’t worry about giving away secrets. I’m new to SF and I dont understand a single thing you just said.
Talking about turtles, ticks and the KKK…
I’m no pro player, but I have pretty good success against Hawk when turtling, similar to vs Zangief. Keep your flipkicks charged so that you can counter his jump-ins/dives and stab him with c.MP to keep him at distance, maybe throw in the odd jab roll once he’s used to blocking. If he’s jumping in, he’s probably going for a tick -> 360 so don’t let him close, mash on double backflip if you’re not charged. That Claw player looked very impatient and kept jumping in, which doesn’t seem like a safe strategy against Hawk as he can anti-air you or attempt a 360 once you land, plus you lose you charge for your reversal. Most of all be patient, he’ll have to come for you the closer the clock gets to 0.
Above all else, hope that he hasn’t picked pink Hawk…
…just seen your post above, turtle means playing super-defensive, a tick is a punch or kick that is used to make it difficult to escape a throw (or 360 here) and KKK means press all three kicks.
Exactly and pink hawk is my main. I’m a vega destroyer.
Havent met a vega whos given me THAT hard of a time
:lame:
lol, just noticed your sig. That’s pretty cheap, everyone knows pink Hawk is secret god tier. The only way to combat him is start colour Claw, 100% disconnects ftw.
Bring it pink hawk haters.
Quick question (I hope): This is a defense AGAINST claw question, and its noobish, but bear with me (I don’t use claw).
I played a guy the other night who just did claw’s “jump off the far wall and throw you” attack OVER and OVER.
I stuck it out, searching for a better way to defend against it, but I didn’t find the answer.
HOW THE HELL do you defend against this gimmick?
Additional options vary from character to character, but a generic answer is to jump away from him and either punch or kick after he comes toward you off the wall. gridman, I went from maining Claw to maining pink Hawk too Started maybe 2-3 weeks ago. I do mix up the colors out of boredom, though, and seem to have slightly worse results in pink.
There can only be one pink hawk astro
against vega wall dive (kick one where he has to hit punch or kick) jump back jab works with like everyone. only exceptions to this are probably sagat, sim, vega, dictator (mp would be better for him) and honda. there are probably better options for all of the cast (like hawk should jump back fierce or straight up fierce), jab is semi-universal
Wait, Im sure this is the dumbest question in the world, but how do you change your players color?
lol, you weren’t kidding when you said you were new to SF. At the character screen, pressing the different punch or kick buttons when selecting your character gives you a different colour for each. You can also use the start button but it will probably disconnect you if you are playing online. Try it out in training mode, then pick your favourite colour and become mortal enemies with anyone who tries to pick your colour!
Please read my answer again.
Anything with invincible frames at the beginning will work in your situation. So, if it’s a move that has invincible frames and gives you the added bonus of hitting, that’s the move you’d want to use.
Like I said…Scarlet Terror (charge :db:, :r:+:k:).
Did you read the Wiki like I suggested? Go read it if you didn’t. When you actually understand what a reversal special move is, then you’ll have to answer to all of the questions that you’ve asked about them in this thread.
Read the Wiki…please?
I read it. I know what a reversal is, I just can’t get the timing down. I try to do kick flips and back flips after I’m knocked down, but it’s just not doing it. Ive done it a couple times on accident.
I offered some suggestions on how you can get the timing down in the “noob” thread.
