Vega AE Updates preview

and people wander why nobody make any comment anymore

Vega can literally bully half the cast at the moment. you guys are forgetting that they are changing the whole character i think so wait and see.

Why do you have to belittle people that disagree with you? It’s all speculative right now, so we’re discussing things that could possibly adversely affect Vega’s playstyle. No one whose opinion matters is saying shit about tier lists- most of us mained Vega all through Vanilla when he was bottom of the barrel so get off your high horse dude.

lol i wasnt serious about wasting 4 bars on 1 combo that would be scaled to hell and back lol

Are you serious man? I mained Vega all through Vanilla as well, and if you really want to go back, I’ve been maining him since he was first selectable in Champion Edition. If you mained Vega through vanilla and visited these forums as well, then you should know what I’m talking about when I say people like to bitch and whine around here about shit that they don’t even know yet.

Cosmic Heel is in no way 100% or even 70% of Vega’s offensive game. If you disagree, then you must play a different style than I do.

CH is an important part of his offensive game, assigning a percentage to it is irrelevant.

I wasn’t attacking your loyalty or experience with Vega, I was just pointing out that some of the people you are criticizing have and will be just as loyal to the character.

It’s not all bitching and whining, some of us are having an actual discussion of the announced changes, and are providing examples of how things are affected. I guess my main point is that for several pages you mostly seem to be trolling this thread, so if you aren’t going to contribute anything or present your points in a constructive way just stop posting.

I’m not going to talk more about it honestly after this post, I think Claw came out unscathed compared to some other characters in AE’s updates. I’ve always had fun and done very well with Claw without relying on Cosmic Heel, although I’ve always said that landing it in a match was pivotal to his success. I just feel a lot of people have gotten to wrapped up in a single thing, it’s not as though Vega is Gen and that Cosmic Heel is his standing mk of death.

Fact is in this thread the nerf everyone hates is Cosmic Heel but he received 3 buffs! I watched Chris King play against Daigo on a Socal regionals video. He lossed but man I was impressed with how patient he was and how well he managed his EX meter. When he got cornered he died but that’s what happens, however even so what was more surprising was that he wasn’t aggressive and didn’t actually use Cosmic Heel to start an offense. The way I see it Chris King almost didn’t know about Cosmic Heel and had that been an AE game he would have full benefit to an improved crouching medium kick, backdash and EX RCF.

I’m not trying to be an ass but I don’t think Claw will be worst than he is now. Improved footsies are always good and Claw is a poke oriented character, he isn’t balls to the walls aggressive because he’s fragile when positioned badly. What’s more important is also that changes that other characters have undergone, match ups will change and Vega will probably still have to stay out of the corner but his world isn’t falling apart.

take care, Claw players.

Pedo, much respect for defending. I just personally disagree. Don’t judge me too much based on that.

The thing is, people are going ape shit over the changes, and we don’t even have anything exact yet. I realize some are having an actual discussion about this, what really entertains me is that people threatening to drop Vega already due to said changes when again we know nothing exact yet. If anyone got it bad, I’d say Cammy did by losing her TK canon spike, but I don’t play Cammy so I can’t really elaborate.

I think there’s some confusion about these updates, myself included. Considering the master disc was sent out for printing and Capcom was officially listing these changes themselves, I assumed they were a final and complete list of adjustments. Maybe they are still subject to change, and maybe some changes were left out for the players to discover, in which case yeah we need to wait and see.

Rugal, you’re right about alot of people overreacting, and there’s always going to be people who flock to the flavor of the month or “high tier” characters. I know you’re a respectable member of this forum, I just got a little fed up with unconstructive or sarcastic posts insulting peoples’ opinions.

maybe these changes will be changed again before dlc

i’m sorta scared to try to translate again lol

just hit quote to see the full stuff

no one is wrapped that CH is this singular move. Its a combination move. It makes his offense scary, its a mix up to what would be a linear predictable offense. CH allows claw to punish counter pokes that are just out of range. 270+ damage is a lot for guessing wrong. But CH sucks ass with out Vega’s others tools. And I understand your stance on that the nerf would make other Vega’s actually think Becasue they either just sit down and press cr.mp or nuetral jump all day and use CH. It just doesnt seem fair to nerf a tool like that, especially when it has to be used very intellegently and in full synchronization with his normals and throws. And I havent judged you on your stance. At least you provided a counter argument with points. Much respect for that.

Why not? I now have to use meter to start an offense and put my opponent in a disadvantage positon while standing? Sure thing buddy, keep holding down back.

If they really mean “at the tip”, as in max distance, that’s a massive 3 frame increase on block disadvantage. Which would mean it’s -4 at close range…let’s hope the translation is muddled and this isn’t the case -_-

I know, and I apologize. I was just getting fed up too at all the negativity that is always bombarding this forum constantly. I really can’t understand it.

@Pedo - That’s not at all how I play. I disagree with you saying Vega needs meter to start an offensive.

Taken from the Q&A posted on the front page:"
[Claw]
Q: Also, is it possible to do Cosmic Heel -> Scarlet Terror after changes?
Makes me wonder seeing how its recovery on block increased.

A: We increased the recovery frames of Cosmic Heel on block, so it is possible to do current combos on hit.
We changed it so that if the opponent blocks at the tip of CH it’s even."

… when its spaced right its even? that means 0 right?
Vega= Gangbanged.

honestly the changes are 1000% gay Imo, i think pedo covered everything i wanted to say really so I’m not gonna add anything to it.
I’ll just focus on Juri for now -and Yun when he’s available-.

I found this interesting. Although they talk about Juri in this particular part…

Q: Are there any changes to Juri’s normals?
A: We couldn’t say everything about the changes, but we altered some of her normals as well.

Couldn’t say everything about the changes. I think there’s more changes, they may or may not be minor though.

Dev blog never, ever stated every single change about any character afaik, whether it be major/minor or good/bad.

While they did say “at the tip”, I doubt they meant the maximum range, as they like to leave things vague. (I’m guessing -2 on block)

In AE if they keep the CH nerf he most certainly will. And if what i read just know is correct. +0 on tip when spaced, well Vega gonna be crap and you cant deny that.

I’m certain Vega will still be a great character in AE guys.

What are you talking about??? Ex RCF will kill everyone coz it has frame advantage, understand! It totally makes up for any nerfs to our most useful tools dumbshit!!1

In all seriousness, these changes are a joke. Just look at the nerfs chun li got compared to how ass raped elf is. I feel sorry for elf players. If capcom’s idea of changes is to change playstyle then you buff the moves that arent being used not nerf the moves that are most often used. The reason shit moves arent used is because they’re shit not because the other moves are so much better.

This is depressing. If CH is as bad as they say it is, and if his normals stay the way they are now, then I’m most certainly dropping this character for good.

With his CH being as weak as it is, damage output will be HEAVILY dependent on meter. The reward for frame traps will be pathetic when he has no meter because CH wont be used as a reliable frame trap that results in good damage with no cost of EX bars (i.e. CH > ST). For those who don’t realize the magnitude of this change, then you have a LOT to learn about Vega in SF4. His offensive game is weaker (he’s going to have a MUCH harder time opening up turtles) and Vega is effectively a weaker character as a whole now. Not as weak as Vanilla but still not adequate for high tournament level play either. Super Vega was boarder line.

His buffs are nothing in comparison the the nerf CH has gotten. Invincibility on EX ST will also do him no justice.

For those of you who think the CH nerf is not that big of a deal/important and how it wont effect your style of play… do yourselves a favor, watch videos of top Japanese Vega players, in Super or Vanilla (and yes, no other Vega players around the world are nearly as good as the Japanese Claws). Learn why CH is amazing and utilize it to it’s fullest while you still can. Trust me, you’re going to miss it.
