I believe Vega is tied for fastest walk speed with Akuma, Chun and Dictator.
And again it’s 0 frames if you are perfectly spaced at max possible distance. Much of the time you will probably end up at negative frames (disadvantage). Sounds like in AE using CH as a footsie on anyone with a 3 fr jab/short is equivilent to blocking a jump in by them. In the sense that they basically get a free block string/tick throw/frame trap setup.
Yeah, Vega will still be playable in AE if these changes are the only ones and final he will be not nearly as much fun to use and has to work way harder for wins. The main damage will come from pokes and throws, thats it.
The main reason why CH is so good is because you can just fish for a throw tech or a poke really safely. Nobody will punish a CH on reaction if you’re good at mixing it up with kara throws and pokes. If they block it? So what? We are completely safe. If we hit with the tip, we can go for frametraps, if not, just OSTT. They went for a throw? Good for us, we are at our best range again after the tech and can start all over again… If they didn’t block it, 240 Damage and a free safe jump or mixup afterwards.
And that will be gone, just kara throws and pokes with the occasional cr.MK, cr.MP xx EX FBA combo.
I will play Vega in AE, no doubt about it, but I just don’t get why they nerf him again. I think we already have to play way more careful and intelligent than the Ryu’s, Rufus’, Balrogs (insert character of your choice here). I’m always playing around with a lot of characters (with Vega as my main) and I can’t believe how easy some of them are to play…
The only new fun thing will probably be j.HP, cl.HP xx EX RFC, cr.MP xx EX FBA, but how many times are you landing a jump in in high level play…
@ Rugal- Why would you even think such a thing? Clearly that would make Vega way too good! (<–sarcasm)
No, capcom doesn’t want us to have a viable move for pressure so no EX RCF did not get faster. It is the same slow piece of garbage that it always was, except now it is +4 on hit, so that we can waste even more meter for a weak combo (cause of dmg scaling) that will end with Ex FBA.
Read the arcadia list “Sobat can be thrown if done UP CLOSE on block”
So…meaning if it’s spaced right then we’re good? Maybe it’s just a translation error…but maybe. You can tech now up close for most part. But I’m actually wondering now.
EX RCF frame trap off of safe jump untechable knockdowns with EX izuna after jump in fierce close fierce is gonna be gdlk.
i’m gonna use that a lot, push people to the corner, be even on block so you have better chances of starting offense, get some chip, and god help you if you manage to land the frame trap at any point cause a lot more damage is going to come.
i think it’s a sick buff. and i use ex rcf a lot more now cause i feel as though vega has nothing else going for him against fireballs. EX SHC suuuuuuucks hard, and at least if people block an EX RCF i’m actually in a decent position and got something done.
If you do it point blank it has to be -4. Do the math spaced right equals 0. right now its hard to do max spaced Cosmic Heel. At max range many opponents can simply crouch. So your average is -1 or -2. your only option is block. That isnt good.
edit: why you may ask.
Say you think back dash is an option. No it is not. A Simple OS can take care of that. Say you do it against Sagat, he does OS into TU. YOu back dash, and he hits you with the tip of TU. since you are airborne thats 180 damage. Fei, Zangief, Abel’s OS f.mk, Viper everybody can rape back dash. Of course who the hell OS now in days?
it first said faster RCF because it was a vauge translation. So it was o you can combo into cr.mp xx EX RCF. Then Duey said no it says that RCF recovers faster, it doesnt start faster.
if you’re at poke range with charge you can react to fireballs and punish them though. that’s a recent development, against daigo i was just hoping he’d throw another one.
against guile, you can react and force him to block it, which is better than nothing, and moves him to the corner
against characters with fireball traps from full screen ex rcf is useless, you have other issues at close range when you’re fighting seth / rose / sim
Point is, CH is gonna be too risky and basically giving the opponent free pressure if you use it as a poke, in AE its gonna be mainly used for long range Punishes and Crouch tech punish… thats it.
with all these changes, i can imagine combos now:
j.hp > cl.hp x ex rcf x lv2 fa (2frame) > whatever you want after a crumple
j.hp > cl.hp x ex rcf x fadc (1frame) > c.mk > c.mp x ex fba
question is, how do you know he is going to crouch tech? Bigger question is; why should someone (any character for that matter) get punished for attempting to punish somebody? Its as stupid as frame trapping somebody and you get SRK. If the reversal window wasnt as wide and lose as the girl on TLC with 19 kids, i wouldnt mind getting SRK for frame trapping. But whatever its obvious Capcom was going to shit on characters who’s their original vision wasnt met. IE starting with Gen. -2 frames big deal. Using meter to land hurt full combo’s? Get ready to be as viable as Sagat is now.
isnt jumping a faster proposition? Its also obvious the only reason EX RCF was buffed with +frames, was; to give it an actual use, not to set frame traps or create good pressure of a safe jump. those are just a nifty bonus. Look at Sagat with TU and EX TU, or Ryu for that matter.
The only people I know who uses fireball at EX RCF counter range are Guile players and Daigo. Everybody else is just too damn smart to throw fireballs when they see a potential charge on Vega. Plus, SSIV already features a non-reversalable RCF meaning it already does push people back if you guess right. AE is proposiing +4 on hit not on block. As someone else mentioned, you have an option of wasting another metere for a grand total of roughly 280-300 damage after scaling. Not very impressive for something that won’t really happen in a real match. Plus on block right now, he can use RCF for a kara throw trap as well. If you notice after a nice blocked RCF you barely have to walk up for a kara throw and if you are fighting a Vega mirror, after a RCF you can kara the other Vega player after blocking their RCF (without walking up at all!). All I’m saying is that Capcom is giving Vega buffs that arn’t really needed (its nice but not necessary) and debuffing what is important.
