@pedo- Many other characters can already do that same brain dead setup so I highly doubt that that is the reason why.
Also I seriously can’t believe that Seth said that. It logically doesn’t make sense.

This is comedy gold haha! Come on guys, Vega is actually a perfectly balanced character… his only weakness is that most characters are way better than him! Also, walking is like the fastest way to get around except for bikes, cars, trains, planes, any other transportation etc.
But seriously I think this was Seth’s subtle way of saying that the focus for AE changes was on toning down powerful characters, rather than buffing everyone else up to their level. Although his statement doesn’t bode well for my hope about unannounced buffs for Vega.
I hope you’re right, but IIRC that comment was made in the middle of development, not after Super was already out the door. At that point, it’s very possible that the only concrete change was the overhead POM and Seth either didn’t know or wasn’t allowed to comment on anything else.
I tested this in the past and found I couldn’t combo the Ultra on normal cl hp counterhits (second hit), only on focus counterhits. It looks like the Focus Attack state might have its own unique hitstun. I think it’s more likely the delay on SC is a fix to j hp/rh and grounded CH combos.
ive done this on Rose and Vipers wake up where they do EX Seismo type moves and hit them all out of if, and did Ultra. But who knows, maybe im remembering wrong.
That has to be one of the things, honestly, and others of course. I mean look at Capcom’s logic, that is a legitimate excuse to slow or delay that move. Unintended things dont sit well with Capcom. At this point Capcom and logical game design in the same sentence is non existent.
oh well, i was expecting this shit. New cast doesnt do well against Vega, and Cosmic Heel is part of the problem. Match ups that are 6-4 advantage Vega, the problem is Cosmic Heel. I dont want to play this turtle shit game, it just doesnt work, it only works in the low end of the skill spectrum with cr.mp abusing scrubs. And i willing to bet that if he gets invul frames to EX ST it wont mean shit, because now you have choose between a shitty predictable linear offense begging with blocked EX RCF, deal respectable damage with EX RCF into EX FBA, or defend from an onslaught, leaving you realistically no options because all options are so dependent on meter. So to get meter you have to risk more, with halfed ass block strings.

I bet you there is an added perk of increasing total frame count to 20 or 21, just like cr.mp, which will make cr.mp the better poke, because whiffing cr.mk for a reaction or opening is now non existent, which again was one of the reasons cr.mk was so much better than cr.mp in Super.’

Pedo- I know I tested Viper’s EX Seismo, and I think I tried it on cr jab spam/os tech although it was a while ago so I don’t remember exactly. I remember thinking the hitstun off the Focus counter seemed visibly longer. Maybe my execution was off but I could do it very easily to a focus attack and never got it on the other counterhits. If you can confirm it works in the other situations let me know.
And I’m cool with one or the other Ultra being the way it is now, but what’s the deal with having 2 Ultras that are both uncomboable and punish-only? Ugh.
So I was trying to figure out how to use this new and supposed improved cr.mk and it hit me. All meaty setups involving cr.mk which gave vega a powerful wake up game against other characters is vb non existant. Not only is clsmic heel not viable anymore but cr.mk on meaty isnt an options. So after a knock down your options are limited to shot like st.lk or kara throw mix ups. Not only that seth killian confirmed begas design in AE. with no attack oltions to maximize a knockdown and no normal to set up an offense and crazy mix ups and cr.mk being a six frame move which wi kl l make it like chuns sweep without the pinishment hopefully. It means you will be playing the majorities of match ups as if you where aying chun and going up against gief. And with no zoning tool fba is going to be more important to escape, and a possible buff to ex st to allow vega to turtle. With the delay on SC punishing honda isnt an optiln anymore. And it gives characters like guy dudley makoto practiclly the new cast viable option to attack and not fear the ultra. This can be seen on rose as well. Nerfing her ultra so new characters that need to lressure l day have a chance at any point during the match. On second review about what seth said about vega makes perfect sense and fits with what capcom has to do to make thes ewe characters much more viable. Which is why I opposed new characters and any new characters to this game. Nerfs will and where made to accomadate the new cast and they are doing it again in AE. But like HNIC and the rest of the idiots on this website said im an idiot hype on code red and have no basis for my argument.
What AE is essentially trying to do is make SSFIV AE a new game in and of itself by changing the typical game style of each character. Blankas can’t spam spinballs anymore and only safe on combos, Sagats relying more fireballs than ever, Gief not knocking ppl down with EX greenfists and slower jumps (which is stupid beyond comprehention), and so forth. They are making Vega have this game style: walk walk walk–> poke–>poke–>walk walk walk–>poke–>walk walk walk–>poke. No frame traps, no normals for safe re-positioning, all pokes and the occational EX FBA/ST combo. Its gonna be a fun game ppl. Vega players rejoice! We all will become King of Pokers.

@pedo- cr mk being 6 frames is a huge buff. I highly doubt that they will make the move give less stun. If he had 18 frame dash then he would have a perfect frame trap off of FA and a viable close attack that gives him at least +2 frames which is necessary to not get grabbed after any close attack, thus having good enough attack options up close.
the craziest thing though they give characters like ibuki and vega nerfs but they keep giving ryu more bs to link ultra into and nerf some little insignificant thing about him. oh well we’ll just have to play and see.
Ibuki got a massive buff actually. st mk 5 frames is a huge buff for her. Vega getting 6 frame cr mk is a really good buff, but it wont help Vega no where near as much as it will help Ibuki.
It makes st mk after lk tsumiji, or cr lp, a real frame trap
Its significantly easier to combo off of st mp and cr lp now which are her main combo moves.
If you start with st mk or lk (which is even faster now and easily combos into U2) after a lk or HK CD, its harder to react to.
It is now comboable off of f + mk which is huge
It becomes a better poking tool, since its faster.
Them lowering dmg and stun on neckbreaker is nothing compared to that buff, and the kunai thing shouldn’t really effect real Ibuki players in a negative way either. Good Ibuki players don’t just jump back kunai, or don’t really do it at all for that matter. Neckbreaker probably just lost 20 dmg and 50 stun I bet and kunai probably lost 10 dmg which again is nothing. Imagine how much better she will be once TC4 works on all crouching characters?

i don’t really use ch for “frame traps” i use it for punishes or real frame traps in strings from safe distances such as cr.mk > ch or st.lk > ch so thats alright, still an unecessary nerf though imo
sc being nerfed is a bitch but im %80 sure that we’re getting I frames on EX ST so that’s bless tbh , vega already has a semi decent anti air game i feel. they’ll probably only nerf it by a couple of frames so it will still be able to punish retarded unsafe jump ins like we’re all used to , but we’ll probably have to do it a bit earlier.

cr.mk was already really really godlike thanks to Cosmic Heel and Kara-throws. for me easily his best poke. If cr.mp worked like shoto’s cr.mp (massive hitbox vertically) cr.mp would be better, do to, OS cr.mp~cr.lk + cr.lp.
Also, if they add invul frames to ST, Jozhear’s early theory on how Vega would work will be the most viable playstyle. just poke and use EX ST to punish is going to be what Vega is about in AE.
