So I figured I would give this game a try. It runs and all that good stuff but I cant get my stick to work. Im using xpadder and I set the buttons up and what not but nothing happens. The buttons are not what I assigned them to and the stick doesnt do anything but down. Always down.
I tried to go to the options > game > uncheck stick but that doesnt work. Nothing happens when I click on Game in the options menu. So im stuck and looking for help. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Edit - I found the answer. Sort of…
Thanks someAzNdude
That fixed my problem.
Nothing happens when I click on “game” in the options menu. Anyone have an idea why that is?
But it’s more accurate to say that the nerfing of combos applied to the whole game, not just select few characters >:/
I mean, Eri and Ayane might be exceptions to the rule, but the nerfs to the assists effects everybody evenly.
Anyway, on topic about the game: Eko is still the best assist for Kurumi I think. Best health boost off the super and her new 22B move is very fast and useful. I can’t seem to find anything good about Juliet’s hilarious kurumi throw though. You can’t combo into it, that’s for sure.
The whole entire game does not become “not fun anymore” because you said so, based on how you feel about your main character. OK?
Let me put it as simple as possible…
Whether or not the game is fun is a subjective matter, it is an opinion. It does not get any more simple than that. Big words? Fucking dictionary it then.
If you base your opinion on juggles it is even more subjective, it’s an opinion whether the game is more or less fun based on how combos work.
OK? If you’re here to talk about what you’ve personally experienced with the characters you have played against other human beings then I AM ALL EARS. But if you don’t know what you’re talking about because you only like two characters and have never played against another human being then PLEASE do not say the game is less fun. I will not explain why, use common sense. Don’t say the whole game is less fun unless you have valid reason to do so.
I play almost every character in the game save for Yui, Eri, Luna and Kaede. Irrespective of that though, it’s frigging obvious that there is less crazy stuff you can do now, and combos did get shortened in general. On more characters than just Kurumi and Natalia, that sense of freedom is gone. Because now, when you set up for a combo that would have worked in a previous version, shit just misses now because character hitboxes got smaller when they’re hit into the air, and you’re forced to use some other move that doesn’t have any follow-ups.
If fun is subjective, then what are you getting so up tight about? Personally, I believe that the game is slightly less fun now that combos across the board were nerfed with the possible exception of two or three characters. (Not sure about Yui/Luna and the others who I haven’t really taken a liking to) but that doesn’t mean that I’m condemning it as a bad game at all. I still think it’s great and it’s not hard to work around the nerfs, but I just think that the steps taken to discourage long combos are a bit severe.
Um, sorry to bother you all, and I know you must get sick of explaining everything over and over, but I tried the suggestions in the thread and in the wiki and this is driving me nuts:
Version 103b has always worked perfectly fine. Changed the language settings and never had any problems.
I downloaded the 104 with the patch that was posted a few pages back and most of the filesnames are in some kind of gibberish instead of Japanese. None of the 103 filesnames look like this. When I try to run it a black console pops up and immediately disappears. Then nothing.
I download NTELA 1.1 from the wiki and “Execute by NTLEA.” Same thing. Console pops up, disappears, nothing happens.
I can’t figure this out for the life of me. Is anyone else familiar with this problem?
If you can change unicode to Japanese, then do that. Right now, my unicode settings are US, and it does the same thing that it’s doing to you now. When I try to open it in Japanese unicode, VOILA! The Game drop-down menu doesn’t pop up, but everything is default so nothing to worry about there.
If you can’t do unicode, and since your NTLEA doesn’t seem to be working, try using AppLocale. It does the same thing as NTLEA, but from my experiences I’ve had more success with AppLocale.
If that doesn’t work, try changing the compatibility of the exe to Windows 95/2000, and/or putting the VP folder into your C: root directory.
If that doesn’t work, then you could always play IaMP
I’m not sure how to change the unicode. Google only brings up changing the non-unicode which I’ve already done.
As far as app locale, it tells me that my settings enable me to run the application already and then it doesn’t do anything. Changing the compatibility doesn’t help either.
Has anybody else tried this file? Does it work for them?
But yeah, I may just check out IaMP if it means I don’t have to mess with this stuff.
Control Panel -> Regional and Language Settings -> Administrative (or Advanced) -> Change the Unicode language to Japanese
It might prompt you to enter a CD. If it does and you have the CD, use it and install the files. If it doesn’t prompt you, then it should ask you to restart. Click Yes. After that, VP should work.
Yeah, I did the same thing right after making the post above. I had only just realized that the poster explicitly said that NTLEA and applocale weren’t necessary, implying that changing the non-unicode wasn’t either. I’d switched it back to english and and it worked. I felt so stupid and lame.
I think the netplay took some people away from the game (atleast for some I know) and for some, they took some character changes as very damaging to their character and how they play the game.
I still play it tho, the netplay was fine with this latest patch.
They balanced that shit out for a reason. The damage that Natalia gets off random shit pretty equal to assist combos from other characters. Natalia and Lillith don’t need combos when they have stupidly good normals and specials that they can land just from utilizing basic footsies. Like I said before, so fucking what if your favorite characters aren’t combo characters any more, there’s still combo-centric characters in the game.
Now, funny you’d jump to the subjective argument. I guess our opinion of fun is subjective but your “opinion” of character design/art is not? Whatever dude.
That settles it. I’m done talking to you. But next time just pick your words more carefully and say things like “I think” and “this character” not “this game isn’t fun anymore”, because the latter is a bullshit and incorrect statement while the former would actually sound like a more accurate opinion.
Yeah I’m not sure if they changed the latest netplay much, but it felt a lot different. In a good way.
