I use JoyToKey to play Vanguard Princess with my Hori Fighting Stick EX2.

Ugh. Sorry to bring another issue with this game to this thread but I dunno where else to look though I’m not sure if anyone would have the answer to this one.
I recently had to reinstall Windows XP over my old one and upon doing this game quit working for me. No idea why. I’ve reinstalled all the Japanese language packs, fonts, everything I can think of, but whenever I start up VP (1.03 and 1.04) the window pops up for it and then immediately disappears.
I believe it’s something to do with FM2nd and my PC since the ‘English’ version doesn’t work as well as some other FM2nd games I had previously. Anyone know their way around FM2nd stuff?
When VP inexplicably stopped working on my system I eventually ended up reformating the whole thing.
Time to start playing again…

The game has combos. Lots of combos. Consistent, reliable, easy combos with lots of hits and lots of damage (say hello to Eri and Ayane, thanks bye).

Besides Eri and Ayani, combos in general did get nerfed and shortened and otherwise butchered slowly with each patch. Ver 1.01 felt a lot more free and less restrictive than the game currently does. Sure, I feel the current version is more balanced, which is definately nice.
The whole hitbox-getting-smaller off spin hits or air juggle moves was unnecessary IMO. I should be able to hit with low pilecharge off an eko 6D or 2D on an airborn opponent. I know it’s possible but the timing for it is so strict that it seems almost random, and I don’t think Kurumi can do it at all. Not to mention nerfs to the assists that discouraged combos.
Anyway, you guys stop putting words in my mouth. I never said I hated the game, only that It’s a bit less fun now that I can’t do pilebunker or heel drop juggles with Kurumi or Natalia (which were hardly game breaking after Kurumi’s first nerf). The game is still fun, so I’ve no reason to ‘hate’ it just because it lost a bit of that fun when the combos were shortened overall. Natalia got buffed in other areas even if she can’t combo quite so well anymore.

Okay, I can get the buttons to work and all but I can’t get Joy2Key to work where I can use the stick to move my character. Using MadCatz SFIV LE Tourney stick. Any idea why the stick wont function on the game with J2K?
IDK try using other axises with joytokey or try running joytokey in Adminstrator mode by right clicking and clicking “Run as administrator”.

Make sure the stick is in dpad mode. Turn on POV switches. Set the keys in J2K (the POV1 and POV2 are in a different order than Left Right Up Down, so watch what you’re doing), then test in notepad. Then turn on VP, change the keys by pressing the corresponding key on your joystick, and you should be good to go. If it still isn’t working, if it still is not working, you can try the alternative emulation method, but I’ve never needed that yet.
Yeah they got nerfed for a reason. Why should a character like Natalia have juggles as long as Eri? She shouldn’t, she’s not designed to be a combo-centric character. Just like Lillith shouldn’t have a ton of juggles (she shouldn’t have any IMO, she’s a grappler).
And yeah you’re boo-hooing over your characters while saying “this game” as if the whole game is no longer fun. Which is bullshit because you’re just being bias based on your characters. If you played a character like Eri you’d say the game hasn’t changed at all because most of her juggles are still there, just slightly modified, which again is bias.
Next time say “Natalia isn’t fun anymore” instead of “this game isn’t fun anymore”, because your reasoning only applies to that character anyway.
I play Natalia and she is still fun.
