i haven’t searched this thread, but I played VS for the first time last night and had a blast.
I want to learn Bulleta.
My strategy is mostly runaway throwing projectiles and hunting people. But I’m not familiar with any of the system mechanics. I guess I’ll be playing in GGPO soon.
Anyways, what’s bulleta’s strategy? I see Nako do a lot of rushing with jabs into strongs. And then he does this crazy wolverine style infinite here: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=hmY1h2ByUJw
which I think I might need to learn.
Any Bulleta strats for a Bulleta and VS newbie would be appreciated.
EDIT I just noticed the first page.
Bulleta (as with most VS characters) is a rusher. She has lots of dash links and her rushing game is pretty hard to stop once you get it going. She is very fast and can lock down anyone in the game.
You’d be best off going on GGPO and asking B-IzM for advice/ help with Bulleta. He’s the word on her.
i told nicknack this a few days ago and feel that everyone in the community should take this because i see this happening a lot.
it’s very common for the opponent to win matches this way.
for example. one player is getting baited on wake up all the time. the average player will usually get hit by what the person is trying to do, but in this case it isn’t working.
first of all when that is happening you need to stop whatever you’re doing on wakeup. in most cases, the answer is just block.
now at the same time, the opponent is GCing you and you want to do it right back to him. that’s not how to overcome it. unless you hit them back with the GC in multiple succession, you shouldn’t be using it. so what you need to do is change your game plan on their wakeup, rather than your own wakeup.
now it’s a smart thing to keep doing something that is working, especially if your opponent isn’t finding away around it. if they do, it’s time to find something new. what i’m trying to say in general is, copying someone to counter them is NOT the answer.
the pattern i keep vs many people today is GC on wake up, and bait on them on their wakeup. it works good, but i like people who have an answer to that because it makes the game a lot more of a mental game than just execution.
another thing you should do is base your mixups on probability and tendencies of your opponent. tech blockers and GC’ers will lose very often to well-timed throws on their wakeup. it makes sense because you have to block to tech block or GC alike.
it really helps if you play other games. but if not then you can learn everything as a whole in VS. that’s what i really like about this game.
^smart stuff.
man i miss this game. My cpu exploded and I can’t get on anymore.
Good shit .I can IAD much better now. Thanks alot:lovin:
Does anybody got some advice on GCing?
I can’t do it for shit.
I just bought the Vampire Savior collection so I’m gonna practice up on the game. I’ll see you doods online
that’s too bad, i was wondering where you were.
GC is hcb, stop at downback or back (on number pad the motion is on player 1 side, 632 and stop at 1 or 4) depending low or high. then press 3+punch or kick depending on character (zabel is kick).
it doesn’t need to be too fast. the only thing you have to do pretty fast is the downforward+attack. you can buffer the hcb fairly long. just make sure you hit the forward and the down when you hcb.
edit: welcome fallingedge. vampire savior will treat you good in terms of fun and a badass game :karate:
Sakai “Slaughter” Show
All Raptor/Zabel players ATTENTION…
If you’re looking to step your game up, then you have to check out Sakai’s “Slaughter” Show. It’s pretty much Sakai beasting on everyone.
I’ve uploaded the video and split them into 4 parts. It’s textbook Zabel 101 and it’s the best display of Zabel you’ll ever see.
Sakai is one of Japans best Zabel players, and I was told he has the best unblockable LK execution, so study UP!

just watched part 1, hopefully the rest has more big names. part 1 is only kosyo and hoe.
that felicia player sasaachi plays…different.
edit: oh ok that’s why there isn’t many big names. they took out the matches that he lost (he didn’t get passed 3 or 4 wins). still a good watch, if you like to see someone out class another player. personally i like the closer match where the players have both adjusted and were reading each other.
Actually…The machine was set on “Event Mode”. After 1 match the machines resets to Game Over.
This was from a Mi-Ka-Do DVD btw…and apparently he never lost.
LOL What??? Practically all the “known” Top players are in this…with the exception of a few.

The majority of the heavy hitters are there though…Actual Tournament winners.
get on 2DF or something. i wish GGPO was up so i wasn’t bored enough to spam this thread.
but yeah. it’s confirmed by many that orecom is the best felicia player and has surpassed nekohashi. from the new videos, i would agree. cat-k is still my favorite though.
the leilei player is deka i believe. it’s in kanji which i dunno how to read yet.
so my post isn’t as useless, i’ll give a little insight of my opinion about VS
i think i most games, throwing is underrated. raw throw on their wakeup beats many things. it occassionally loses to a jab or short, but that’s rare and if you know how to time it well it should win. it beats GC, tech blocking, block, normals, and depending on your character it CAN beat jumps (demitri, felicia, gallon throws are examples). the useage of the throw is so minimal in america that all you need is good blocking skills reacting to some high lows and you’re fine. this shouldn’t be the case. the threat of throwing makes people more frantic, making your most damaging combos work. all the nicest strings, high/lows, and mixups can be blocked by a good blocker and tech blocker. by all means if what you’re doing is winning, such as block stringing and baiting for free, then keep doing it.
thanks to magnetomaniac yesterdayish (my sense of time is so shifted) for answering questions in the VS room.
hope to play you soon.
Thanks MagnetoManiac for the help.I can GC now. And thx B_IzM for the vids.
this game is so hot.
ggs anakron and dark matter and the other guy i played who’s name starts with a b (but is not b-izm)
mad funs.
EDIT: and Nicknackfiend.
great comp all night.
Well spoken, and may I add to this?
In my experience, the best US players (B-IzM, Mag…etc) are ones that can take throws and still be in the game. Here’s my general experience with throws.
Dash in, pressure pressure, dash in (opponent is blocking, I see a possible throw opportunity) I dash in with another attack, walk up and attempt a throw…to be mashed out by c jab or c. short. Frustrating to say the very least. Hey if that’s how you play, more power to you and I’m not saying “OMG YOU n00b LET ME THROW YOU!” but I think if you do that every time I’m throwing either A) You’re mashing or B) I’m that predictable. Either way, I do agree that we need moar throws! It’s a valuable part of the game and can set up even better things from there (Aulbath bubble after throw?! ZOMG)
sorry if i misled anyone, but when i said good players i meant everyone aside from north america.
