Vampire Savior: advanced link combos & important notes

LOL I think that would be your area of expertise, haha

im not tellin them how to not get hit by my shit
i was just taking a shot at most of the players lol

Well I’m stopping writing for the day. My computer froze and I lost almost two sections, blah. Even still, it’s about 70% done. I need to rewrite the section on Dark Forces, rewrite what I had (and finish) the section on Command Throws, then cover wakeup games, Fireballs & SRKs, and miscellaneous stuff and it’s set.

Good work Skankin! Now, if there was only a scene outside of GGPO.

Some quick questions-
Could someone put up that site that had Saviour and Hunter tier lists? The background was black for the site.
Links to some good Dimitri matches please?

There are a few of them, but I think these two are the best. Top three are constant, so I guess they are the best.

Edit:Oh, you wanted a site. The only ones I know that are useful are

http://vsav.mizuumi.net/index.php/Main_Page

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Vampire_Savior_(Darkstalkers_3)

Typed this all up yesterday and apparently never hit post haha:

I like it. Theres some really good info for VS out there, especially compared to how disorganized the info for some games is, but more is always better especially with a game as complex as Vampire.

Another topic to go in to perhaps would be to sort of breakdown the Character ‘Arch types’ Hop Dashers, IADs, ground dashers… and give a basic breakdown of the way those types of chars are going to tend to pressure and defend. Also an in depth breakdown of ways to simplify Command input supers and concepts to apply to those.
I think in the lifebar section could put in a short piece about meter in the game. Karaing specials for extra meter, Smart ways to build meter safely.

Those are all good things to talk about, but I don’t think they belong in this guide:

  • Breaking characters down into archetypes is a bit too character-specific. I’m trying to talk about mind games that can be applied to anyone (except Anakaris).

  • Command Input supers don’t really deal with mind games. I can see how they might be with Hsien-Ko and maybe Demitri, but most other characters’ EX moves like that are just about comboing into them, rather than trying to conceal the intention of using it or pinning them down so that they have to deal with it.

  • Learning techniques on how to build meter doesn’t really focus on mind games in general, unless I’m misunderstanding?

I’d love to read your guide, skankin! You’re our VS guru.

Theres all kinds of Mind games associated with Meter. I have to play Zabel completely differently if he has a bar or if he doesnt. If i’m full screen against Jedah or Sasquatch and they have a bar I have to be aware to not throw MP projectile or im getting DD+PP’d. etc.

Maybe its a bit more in depth than you were intending. Just tossing out ideas. Some of these are concepts that newer players in general tend to overlook and may not come to realize them until much later on.

I see what you’re saying, but my guide is intended for things that are specific to just Vampire Savior. Like, you need to behave differently when your opponent has meter in almost any game that has supers. I’m trying to focus on what’s different about VS from other games; it’s not really for novice players, but intermediate and advanced players who are new to VS, and just need some direction on how the game is played.

One thing I would appreciate though is just a small blurb about each character and what they want to do. I have a difficult time picking a character when I can’t really tell what the characters styles are (even from videos since as an ST player a lot of stuff just looks foreign to me lol). Don’t really have the time to try everyone out myself.

Maybe I’m lazy but in general a short description of each character would be nice for such a “different” looking cast.

Mm, that’s something I’d need help with TBH. I’m far from a master of all characters. I wouldn’t mind doing something like that if I could get some contributions from good players.

In general though, there’s no such thing as ‘turtling’. Everyone play rushdown; it’s just a matter of HOW they play it. When you are on the defensive, you’re just looking to score a knockdown or a reset so you can start your own rush.

Thanks for spending so much time with me today skankin. Yall good players know I need it lol
EDIT: Also was wonderin if I could steal a few of your guys’ aims. I’m talkin mightymar, kajoq, and shoultzula since I kinda know you guys as far as ggpo goes

I don’t really use IM programs except for to talk to my bosses (I work on the internetz), otherwise I’d give it to you. I just find them to be too distracting.

Thanks, but I remember someone linking to a Japanese site that had tier lists as well as dates for Vampire Savior and Hunter sessions.
Still thanks for the list, looks like Demitri is better than Morrigan in VS.

I think this here is the latest list:

http://blog.livedoor.jp/iamddsas23/archives/cat_31553.html

I’m sure we could come up with this. Between Shoultz, Mar, You, Kenuran, B-izm, few others… we pretty much have every character represented at a pretty strong level.

Jblair- feel free to hit me on AIM, SN is same as this

JBlair: what kajoq said

Hey so what converter do I need, to be able to use my PS3 TE on GGPO? Because I’ve been told you could only use it once then it never works again lol. I’ll play again if I get can my TE to work.
