good. I’m little more than 50% done w/ anak
Heya! Kicks, here. Been playin’ this game a few weeks now and it’s totally rad!
Got a few questions. I have some troubles dealing with Talbain and Rapter.
Rapter’s overheads are comin’ at me all over the place, Talbain seems to have some giant priority and both of them dish out damage fast.
What are their weaknesses? What should I and shouldn’t I do? Any help would be appreciated. (My main is Lei-Lei)
PS
Is the special flashing Talbain tourney legal? Didn’t notice to many differences, but I’ve played a few people who use him and was just curious.
As far as I know Dark Gallon (Talbain if you prefer us name) is legal. The only difference between Dark Gallon and ‘normal’ Gallon is the sprite of his EX Dragon Cannon.
Links for Daigo videos 1-6 are down.
Raptor and Q-Bee are just wrong online. The input delay literally makes it impossible to switch to high block quickly enough a lot of the time.
oye, combovideos houses them, otherwise im me for the vids.
Lei lei has a tough time with the faster characters once they get in on her. once they’re in, pushblocking or going into dark force are your concrete ways of getting them off you(assuming you can pushblock well.)
Against zabel, space yourself, so he can’t cross you up, while still being able to retaliate w/ iad.mp, or s.f+mpXXs.rk. Don’t pendulum blatantly(esp if you can’t pendulum cancel well), since zabel has moves available w/ the priority to hit leilei out, & follow up w/ mixup. I need to play sayyid(sp)'s zabel more. This is a tough matchup for leilei
against gallon, I believe s.lp and s.lk cleanly hit beastcannons. j.mp beats his j.mk if its out earlier. leilei can rtsd the shit our of gallon. The main work is getting in on Gallon, while he tries to zone and contain you.
image gallon/talbain(flash one) is just a sprite swap. no biggie… pple just love the flash i guess
& the meat of the anakaris section is done
I’m starting to doubt whether Bishamon is really viable online. Timing on his links is already a pain in the ass without delay messing it up.
The guy in that video had crazy execution though. Daigo looked like he didn’t know what the hell to do.
Speaking of which, why do I always see Bishamon players slash at the person on the ground after the DP cut-in-half animation? Are they just whiffing for meter or doing it for fun? Doesn’t seem to have any noticable effect when I do it.
Also, curse the motion for his fireball.
I’m forced to do Dashing :lk: > :d: :lk:, :d: :lk:, :d: :mp: > :l::r: :3k: most of the time instead, because it’s not possible to buffer :hcf: :3p: from :db: on keyboard unless I use some kind of weird ass hand position.
Maybe it’s about time to get a stick, lol.
Thanks for the help!
Sorry if this has been covered before, but do you guys have a recommended input for pushblocks… I’m not having any trouble getting them to come out with piano rolling down the punches, then tapping short, then fierce, but I’m worried I’ll pushblock when I’m sooo sure I’m actually blocking and whiff a big dumb low fierce.
I second this last post.
What’s a good notation to push block? Been trying just mashing LP or LK. If I outright mash, I always go into DF mode by accident.
Also…
I know in 3s, joystick motions help you when you mash. Is it the same in VS?
pushblocking is random, depending on the number of inputs that you’ve inputted while in blockstun. from 3 to 6 inputs your chances increase by increments of 25% starting at 25% for a successful pushblock.(so 4 inputs is a 50% chance of success, & 5 inputs is a 75% chance).
Also, like hands/electricity/lightning legs, the last input of your pushblock inputs determines the distance, so ending with a particular strength is important depending on your matchup and defensive position.
As far as technique goes, I piano from hp around the punches to lk(hp, mp, lp, lk), then whatever finisher i want. In actually doing it, whats important is depressing the buttons(which i think is an innate habit), and making sure each hit is depressable. I can give an example(out of vampire), but I dont think its necessary. the more I think about it, it is smarter to start pianoing w/ lp, since if you wiff, you recover faster.
While technique is important for guaranteeing a tech hit, tech hitting/pushblocking & gcing are much like parrying, where the safest time to use it is when you know what your opponent’ll do next. Its the intuition that allows the japs to tech hit crazy shit [like dashing lk’s].
Is linking Bishamon’s c. LP from his c. LK easier than using c. MP?
It feels like it is, but I did some testing and it’s hard to tell. I never see any other Bishamon players use it either.
Gallon still bugs me. I end up dropping rounds on occasion to random beast cannons.
the link is one frame faster going to the lp. so yes, it is slightly easier
as far as gallon goes, can’t you outprioritize bc w/ c.lp? bish is at least fast enough to punish a blocked or runaway bc.
edit: kind of a downer… i just found out lilith can retaliate with a raw DI after being hit by jedah’s c.fp. >.<
Now I see why Daigo always cancels the :d: :hp: with :d::hk:
I prefer to finish with :d::hk: these days anyway. :hp: is just asking for a GC, especially against Chibi or someone.
That’s weird because I’d read that, but I was never missing it with the input I was trying – which is only five buttonpresses. Is this a dip switch setting I didn’t tweak? I lost my memory card, so I was playing on vanilla PS2 settings.
Yeah, that’s why I was ending with fierce. It seems kind of dumb to pair the random element with this property…
Another thing I forgot to ask about, you mentioned this in the wiki:
Tech hitting gives the person teching frame advantage. This trait of tech hitting makes it more desireable in some cases over guard canceling.
How does this work, does tech hit shave off some of your blockstun?
Seems so.
When you tech, you can move right away while the other person’s still stuck in their move animation.
Wow this thread delivers from the very first post. lots of good stuff in here
Any advice on fighting hardcore Demitri turtlers? I mean people who won’t even try to get in on me, and everytime I advance on them, they DP or drill to the other side of the screen and then start fireball zoning again.
patience? All the demitri players I’ve played have no real mixup. you’ll more than likely take damage from stupid shit, but half the time demitri will be doing white damage.
Yeah, I was getting hit by a lot of random drill/sweeps.
Some of these people are ungodly patient. Most of them seem perfectly willing to lose/win by timeout. It’s irritating because his uppercut has huge priority, and it’s hard to punish.
fixed it for u
