Vampire Community Thread: GGPO Hitbox Overlay. Dustloop Tutorial #2 and Why You Lose To Me?

VS is so godlike, the problem is that it’s not scrub-friendly like SF4. What this means is that you can’t just get a bunch of new players together and expect them to become “experienced” by the time the major comes along and you have to find some way to encourage them to participate. You really have to keep up with data and execution or you really fall behind and it’s difficult to find people who not only have the free time but are also willing to put that time in to stepping their game up.

As for how to expand the VS community? Start a session for a game that most people in your area play to get them to come and devote a station to VS and only VS. Also don’t beast on the new players, let the new players play each other. Also take some time out to then have experienced players vs experienced players. Linking people to tutorials or match videos isn’t the best method nowadays for getting people to actually leave their house. The best way to get someone interested in VS is too allow them to actually play the game, enjoy it, and realize for themselves how good the game really is and that it’s something worth putting time into. I was planning to run a tournament and have two VS only stations for casuals but didn’t due to not feeling like doing everything myself (which would be painfully tiring and slow) and recommendations not to run it from certain SRK members.

Is there anyplace i can go to to learn this game better?

This game will be at NEC.

on the side - but when i’m there, Vampire is run at least once.

Obviously we’re not expecting DDSas to emerge from the group of new players come UFGT, but the more people we get to play and have experience with the game before UFGT, the better. I’d rather have a fuzzy idea of how to play the game and have SOME experience.

The problem with the VS community in the US is that we’re all scattered out (I scattered to Germany, lol). So having someone start a local scene for a game that’s over 10 years old is probably tougher than what we’re trying to do right now. Mighty Mar, Shoultzula and I have been working on what we can do to put the game’s name out there for people and offering them places to see high level play (Youtube) and even a chance to play top players (GGPO) and get immediate feedback from them. We want to stream the sessions we have too for those who are interested and either can’t use GGPO or aren’t able to be there at the moment (work, school, etc.). So we’re trying to offer them what we can. I’m hoping that people who are in our community do their best to put the game at tournaments though.

is sako coming?

fuck now i want to go to ufgt

skiiiiiiiii

holla @ me for some games prease!

thread helped out a bit today. Had a few new players and some old time heads jumping on knocking off rust. Maybe we can get floe back in this? heard he used to play but never had a shot to play him.

VS is so so so so balanced. You can pick random select and as long as it doesn’t end up on mummy, you’re in good shape lol. The last 4 japan nationals have had a low tier character in the top 4. Granted that japan does play 1 game for their tournaments and it does affect tier listings but there is 14 years of the game to vouch for the balance.

iirc, ddsas is a former world champion going up against the 2nd worst character in the game. seriously, fuck a tier list in this game. Pick whichever characters suits you best and go fucking win. There are characters who obviously take more work than others like victor but when you max the character out, they fucking murder.

I wish ponder would disable every game on ggpo except for vampire savior that way we can get 400 people playn!

that cab is god awful :frowning:

With that said im eager to meet with other NYC players and get more into the game I used to play casually as a child.

What time does everyone meet for GGPO?

Thanks to Shoultzza for the training earlier, made things muuuch easier. Games great, really enjoying everything about it. I think learning dametri was the right choice for me. If anyone wants some free ass matches im on GGPO generally from 10 to like 2 am depending on what im doing/ how bad my insomnia is. Im down for some ST too if you want more free wins.

early mornings @ best from what I hear.

The Big American names (Kajoq, MightyMar, Shoultzula) are all on in the afternoon as am I (although it’s my night time, lmao). So get at us!

I would love to get back into playing Vampire Savior again.

I picked a good time to start getting into this game I guess! I only ever played super casually, but for some reason last week I got the urge to actually try and learn to play. I’ve been reading the wikis and now I’m trying to get my hands and brain on the same page. Shoutouts to shoultzula and Tetsu for the matches last night, sorry for being so scrubby  I’m checking my connection too to see if that lag was coming from my end or what.

Come on now…the stream needs moar srk viewers. hop on it.

Sup mang

So I played around with VS a little bit, and the first character that really stuck to me was Zabel. Probably atypical of a first time player, but I seriously love the way he plays.

GGs Kyokuji those matches were exactly what we need to show the community that this game is serious business. I learned a lot from my set with you today hopefully, I can prove to the community that I can over come all my bad matches.

Updates have been added to the OP check them out!!!

Good shit, guys. Just had a chance to peep some GGPO VS yesterday and a bit today and am definitely looking to become more active in it. Much thanks to Shoultz for showing me the ropes. Let’s get it!!!

hey should someone who is pretty new to playing fighting games a stick start getting into this?

Please somebody try to bring VS to Sako when he go to that tournament.
That is only thing near to a “Daigo parry moment” we (well, actually i don’t live in US) can get, given its an “obscure” game. If i’m part of the generation that came to get interested in SFIII because of that parry, then Sako might help to cause a similar “attraction” effect.

And btw, nice initiative.
