With meter, she can easily get 400s and 500s with tag combos. And, she doesn’t have to dilute her damage with jabs. Her standing fierce is its own hitconfirm.
to confirm into EX Wheel Kicks, which does 180 and ends in a ground bounce which can be picked up with c.hp and then cancelled into another special
–or–
to catch someone crouch blocking with EX Double Arm Stinger, which hits overhead and gives a ground bounce with enough time to hit her wall bounce kick
Her light Wheel Kick combos also do reasonable damage meterless once you get the hang of juggling with c.lp afterward, but light Wheel Kick does see a slight (20pt) damage nerf in the patch notes.
Looking forward to using Christie in 2013, Loving your finds Vulcan and you play very well with her! I know this isn’t the proper place but I was looking at 3 characters to pair up with her. Xiaoyu, Ibuki, And Lili it seems like the mix-up potential of either of those 3 with her would make for a devastating team, any thoughts? ^ ^!
Out of your 3 character choices to team up with Christie, I recommend using Xiaoyu as that’s the team I use, I put Xiaoyu on point. But I imagine all 3 of the choices would be pretty decent mix-up wise. However ignoring my bias towards Xiaoyu I would probably say that Lili would be the best choice in general as she’s getting some really good buffs ad is looking to be one of the better characters for version 2013.
For Christie x Xiao, put Christie on point. Xiao has crappy normals, while Christie has cr. mk and cr.mp. I’m actually using this team myself, and my only issue so far is that it’s not easy to do Christie’s f.hk kh target combo for max damage afterwards!
I’m using Christie X Lili too, and yeah, this team does work well! Pity it’s not easy to get a dive kick reset off of lp.double arm flail on an airbourne opponent.
Thanks. I still need to work on my hit confirms and my defense in general is pretty bad. I tend to panic EX DAS too much and that makes me a little predictable at times. I need to be more patient when I’m being pressured and react to neutral jumps with either cr.hp or j.mp.
Out of the characters you mentioned, Lili is definitely the better character. Xiaoyu has a high launcher which is good for Christie. But Ibuki’s mixups are kinda weak tbh and she’s getting nerfed in 2013. So I’d play either Lili/Christie or Christie/Xiaoyu.
Thanks for the advice ^ ^! She looks like a lot of fun to play do you play on ps3? I was pretty decent with Ibuki x Cammy… x-x Dissapointed at their nerfs…! I’ll def be a regular here starting soon gonna be learning Christie and I’ll also try to upload any matches I do once I get my recording set up!
@Hbk 00 Thanks ill keep that in mind!
@YayForYuffie Yeah I really love Xiaos movement though and she has some nice overheads haha! but Lili getting buffed is exactly what i wanted to hear! gonna have to try out each of em thanks ^ ^!
Man I wish close standing mk was airborne aka throw invulnerable during startup like Blanka’s s.mk or Juri’s cs.mk. I mean, it looks like she’s hoping in the air but she can still get thrown out of it. I want to like this poke, I want to use it for frame traps but s.mp seems better because you can link that into cr.lp even without counter hit.
Thankfully we can still wake up with DAS xx Handstand --> I think this is better than throwing a guess EX DAS. Because while EX DAS does beat throws and a few other things, it still loses to neutral jump. But if you do a regular DAS xx Handstand then it can beat both the throw* and the jump. It does around the same damage as EX DAS > f.hk, hk, launcher if you switch cancel it. Only problem is that you don’t get the strike invincibility of the EX version unless you’re willing to spend a second meter.
*EDIT: Ok so apparently I was testing this wrong and DAS xx Handstand isn’t fast enough to punish whiffed throw attempts. Hopefully in 2013 Perchflop Kick will be fast enough to punish throws but I doubt it.
^ We should wait for the 2013 patch because her BnBs are going to change.
Right now her best BnB punish is: j.hk, s.hp (2 hits) xx LP Wheel Kicks, cr.lp, cr.hp xx LP Double Arm Stinger. It does 385 damage (313 off cross-up hit confirm) and allows you to either safely raw tag or store a counter hit.
For Post-Launch combos, if your partner has a high launcher Christie can do her f.hk, hk wall bounce into sweep or launcher. If your partner has a low launcher, you can do s.mp, s.hp (2 hits) xx Perchflop Kick or s.mp, cr.hp xx DAS.
With 1 meter, either use EX Wheel Kicks > cr.lp, cr.hp xx LP DAS or EX DAS > f.hk, hk, launcher/sweep. Depending on your partner, it might be better to end your BnB with MP Wheel Kicks and switch cancel instead of using an EX move. Personally when I use EX Wheel Kicks, usually it’s because I want the corner carry more than anything.
For 2 meters, You can do EX Wheel Kicks xx switch > your partner has enough time to charge his Super for free. If your partner’s super doesn’t have long range, this probably only works in the corner. But otherwise you can do this midscreen or near the corner for a good chunk of damage. If your partner’s super is slow, you might need to use a third meter to charge EX to super instead.
I rarely use 3 meters in a combo but when I do, it’s to setup the previous combo (so for example I use Yoshimitsu’s Windmill xx switch to keep the opponent standing and then with Christie I do: nj.hk, s.hp xx EX Wheel Kicks xx switch > charge Super). Otherwise, I prefer using 2-3 meters for resets more than combos. It’s riskier but the reward is much greater.
Kk sounds good! thanks and yeah when 2013 comes out would be much appreciated if you start if off and ill be sure to contribute with my team and w.e I find!! lets take over gyahaha
