Vamos acabar logo com isso - The Christie Thread

anyone here find some good combos that use handstand moves? or… any creative ways to use them? I havn’t logged much time with her but want to use her. There has to be some exciting ways to demoralize your opponent with a handstand or two. I just feel like im hanging out there once i go into handstand mode.

Her hanstand moves are excellent for tag cancels.

You could also setup some high/lows with them I suppose.

I noticed that even if you tag cancel off of hand stand… if you blow it and dont get the combo on the tag in, she is sitting there like an idiot onher hands waiting to get hit. it happend to me actually on a bad tag in.

If you tag in on her EX Handstand moves she stays there for the automatic front stinger which still hits. My friend and I were fooling around in the briefing room and we came up with this corner combo with King as a partner:

j.hk st.hp xx qcf.lp cr.lp st.hp xx qcf.kk helicopter(switch) uf.mk uf.mk uf.mk (christie hits) qcb.lp

Not terribly meter efficient but I think it looks funny. Gonna mess around on my own and see if i can find some more stuff with it

On the topic of Handstand and EX Handstand moves, I really think that aside from using them to tag a partner in safely, a large majority of their use is going to come from Cross Assault setups.

You can probably mix that vortex up with a throw and overhead. So they’ll have a 1/3 chance of getting out safe with a roll. Other wise it won’t work if they sit there and block like normal people.

How are you going to mixup with throw if you’re at sweep range?

But yeah I guess she can also mixup using EX Twister Sweep and EX Stinger.

Stinger seems so slow though, feels like 30 start up or something like that… At least all versions are safe on block.

I also did some testings on this.

f.hk is safer on block than it is on hit. On block it can’t be punished by Ryu’s Super. But on hit Ryu can punish it with his Sweep so she’s at least -5. But f.hk hits twice so on hit you can always tag cancel it and go for a combo. If both hits get blocked and you tag cancel you are not only safe but you are at around +4/+5 so you can true blockstring with a 4 frame normal. If only one hit gets blocked and you tag cancel you’re not safe but you can stop your partner’s run early and be out of HP/EX Shoryuken range.

The gap between f.hk and hk is also smaller if f.hk is blocked. If f.hk hits, then Ryu can stick a shoryuken in between and beat the hk follow up clean. But if f.hk gets blocked, then Shoryuken trades and you still get the ground bounce. Also, any limb they try to stick out in between will almost always lose or trade no matter if f.hk hits or gets blocked. Bad news is that the hk follow up doesn’t even reach if f.hk gets blocked (unless they stick a limb in there).

If f.hk hits, the hk follow up loses to: Reversals, backdash and stand block

If f.hk gets blocked, the hk follow up loses to: doing nothing, backdash and neutral jump

Nice find. I tested this more.

fs.hk can indeed go under hadokens but at the range you’ll need to be for it to hit, you pretty much have to do it on anticipation. You have to hit fs.hk before the hadoken even appears on the screen. It’s still possible to do it on reaction I guess (reacting to the hadoken startup animation) but it’s pretty hard.

Good thing about fs.hk is that it’s special cancellable so you can potentially punish Hadokens with fs.hk xx LP Wheel Kicks, c.lp, s.mk xx HP Stinger for 338 damage.

And if you just throw it out at mid range expecting a hadoken, remember that it’s not safe on block but can be made safer if you cancel it into LP Wheel Kicks/LP Stinger or CADC backwards. Also, max range fs.hk xx Launcher on block puts Christie outside of Ryu’s Sweep range so that’s cool too. Though I think Ryu might still be able walk up and Sweep.

Like Kappa mentioned, it’s also good to close distance while avoiding hadokens. However, I only recommend using it this way at full screen distance or from far away. Any closer than that and Christie is vulnerable to a full punish combo.

Note: Neither c.mk or fs.hk can go under Guile’s Sonic Booms or Chun Li’s fireballs. So it only works on a few characters like Ryu, Ken, Akuma and maybe a few more (haven’t tested vs Dhalsim and others).

I finally got in some actual matches in today with Christie, so, I got a chance to figure out how well EX Stinger works for getting out of pressure. I used it a lot against a Lars and Cody player, who was running some sick pressure strings, and, every time I used Stinger it got me out of it and always managed to connect against him. Very rarely was he able to hit me out of the backup animation, and, I think it hits overhead since I caught him with while he was crouching a lot.

I decided to run to the lab in order to do some testing against some multi-hitting moves. It doesn’t seem as reliable against them, but, I only tested this with Dudley’s MGB. It was always a mix bag. EX Stinger either got beaten clean, Beat MGB cleanly, or, it ended up trading in Christie’s favor.

If you didn’t know, She has a stance feint that builds meter and that’s why you see me abusing it in mid range games. You can also use it to make her unsafe normals like Stand fierce safe. You can look at my tags and things as well. This is my Day 1 Christie I think I am on the right track.

Great stuff with that feint meter build man, that’ll definitely come in handy.

@kail I just use her CADC during a block string, It throws off some of my friends because of the strange animation allowing me to continue pressure. Just a gimmick as of now but it works haha. BTW! do ex handstand and while using the k attack call in your team mate and jump behind the opponent. If you jump behind in time you can continue the combo or start a pressure block string. Christie stays in hand stance for an additional 2-3 seconds and then throws out a overhead before leaving. I am keeping the Bryan setup to myself. Do with this info what you will

Is the stance feint just hcf.K+up? If that’s it then CADC builds meter faster and is probably safer so I’m not sure I see the point of doing stance feints.

I saw you use it for oki to bait stuff though that was nice.

EDIT: hmm… I just tried it in training mode and it seems you can chain stance feints pretty darn fast. It’s a little tricky to do consistently but if you master it I can see how it could potentially build meter faster than CADC. Interesting…

I didn’t do it in those matches but pepole who played me in ranked and at WNF saw me just do them rapidly, it builds meter faster and safer than CADC

I also abuse it in blockstrings instead of CADC, if you do like for example st.fierce(unsafe) and CADC you are still unsafe, Stance feint makes everything safe.

After seeing the stance feints I took Christie to ranked and yes, it is a very deceptive move. Really good at baiting people into jumping from mid range for me at least, and since her c.hp is pretty solid as far as anti airs go, never had a problem countering those jump ins.

My question to you guys is do you feel, with the majority of ways Christie can put someone in blockstun for a good tag cancel mixup and her pretty solid damage overall, that she is better suited for point or anchor position? My gut leans toward point.

Hum, how exactly do you perform your stance feints btw?

Because I’m trying it in training mode right now and Ryu can punish standing fierce xx stance feint and fs.hk xx stance feint with cr.mk. So the way I’m doing it still leaves Christie at -5 or -6.

If she really can be 100% safe on block on everything thanks to feints then I hope that doesn’t make her broken. That sounds a little too good.

She’s in no way close to broken.

I do a SPD for the feint(literally a 360) and for rapids I just keep doing SPD’s. st.fierce feint shouldn’t be punishable. We tried on iketakeda’s stream and couldn’t punish it. At most i got hit with julia super once.

Could you do a small vid about it? In training mode, make Christie the dummy doing her stance feints. And with Ryu crouch block st.fierce/fs.hk and mash HP Shoryuken/cr.mk. Then control Christie and show her inputs. That would be nice.

I’ve done this with ken in practice mode and it isn’t safe unless I’m missing something here. I can still see how it would be useful against most things though. Just not entirely safe.

Late to the party and still VERY basic and VERY rough, but I started making a guide of sorts since last night…
