Yes, the knife does improve the defense(it is really important against Hakan for example). But, as it is now, it is not that useful.
With slight tweaks, knife would be a game changer in his bad matchups(imagine if Rufus, Cammy or Seth would not be able to jump or dash at you ;)), while it would not affect the matchups that are fair/winning).

pretty much this. I completely forgot about EX CU. I like Bingo -6 (thus making us not have to waste pretty much all our bar just to make it safe on block half the time.)
and for fucks sakes please decrease fake bad stone’s recovery or startup. Or do away with the animation to sit there and hold the rocks.
Knife not dropping via focus/throw animation and taking let’s say…3 hits before cody drops it. Taking a throw automatically drops the knife still. Teching and whiffing throws do not make Cody drop the knife.
Crack kick doesn’t even have to be fully airborne IMO. Just make it hop over knocked down bodies or adjust the hurtbox so that it has low invincibility or something of the sort. It hurts to see sweeps still tag Cody when he’s clearly airborne (more added low invincibility frames?)

- Airborne Crack Kick and smaller vulnerable hitbox. Makes me so sad when I go over a low and get tagged by it anyway. Airborne Crack Kick would give Cody some better screen positioning after stuff like back throw in the corner. And just for shits and giggles to yomi stand tech attempts.
- Improve his backdash a bit. Make him recover a bit faster or move back farther. I’m not asking for it to be as good as Rose’s or Chun’s, but it’s god awful right now and Makoto shits on it for free with her Tsurugi.

- I like this one…why do we have to waste 1ex bar of bad stone for linking up to U2 of dread dust? cody deserve no startup delay for throwing stone and no recovery afterwards since on early phase, cody had hold the stone long enough to stay open vulnerably.
- crack is already “airborne” ----> to Hakan’s U2 of Combi.Hold. LOL…actually, this is serious. No doubt, we need to fix crack kick fast like yesterday.
- Yup…cody deserve to be play in sort of hit and run style, so he need a good backdash.

I wouldn’t say I’m offended by it! But seriously, it doesn’t bother anyone else? He says ‘Haha’ after bad stone, ruffian, crack kick and back throw - that’s a lot of 'Haha’s per match!
My wife like to listen that “hahaha” and “bingo” shout-out. she used to repeat 'em when I’m playing cody.

So, I’ve been doing a bit of testing and I’m pretty happy with this as the perfect v2013 balance for Cody with nothing else added/changed.
Backwards walk speed increased to 0.027
Far s.LP recovery reduced by 1F (makes the move +4F on block +7F on hit allowing Cody to hit confirm to sweep as well as combo to far s.MP)
Forward throw increased from 130 to 140
c.LP damage increased from 20 to 30
f.MP pushback on block/hit reduced by 10%
Crack kick is now airborne 8F to ending (fix)
4MP is now counterhittable (fix)
MK far now has the same hitbox while holding the knife and without (fix)
Badstone startup reduced from 29 to 26 for all versions.
HK Ruffian recovery reduced from 27 to 23F
Zonk recovery reduced by 1/2/3F (for levels 1 2 and 3 respectively)
Zonk damage reduced to 110/120/130 (nerf)
EX Criminal Upper invincible from 1-6F
Fake badstone total frame count reduced from 30F to 24F
Knife changes:
Can now tech throws without dropping knife
Chip damage increased from 8-12% to 25% (standardization)
s.MP / c.MP can now be special canceled
Thoughts?
Now that I think about it, crack kick doesn’t need to be airborne. I would just like longer low-invinc frames, but i reaaaaaally like that 1f reduced recov on the s.lp, i think to compensate for crack kick being airborne they’d have to make it maybe -1 or 0 on block
I think it’d be fine if you consider similar moves that also hit crouching opponents and / or put the opponent into a free juggle state. The 2 things about making the move airborne is that it gives cody a move that can’t be thrown besides EX Criminal Upper (everything else can be thrown) and it lets Cody corpse hop.
^ More than anything I wish Cody had a safe move to blow up st. teching that could lead to something. Cody can blow it up now, but it’s a risk.

Problem is i never use that shit except on failed plinks but i feel like i need to incorporate it into to my defense momochi style seems like such a gamble though as i cant read people like the cody-jedi
