Now all we need is a better hitbox on b.MP and Cody is top tier material.
@zukuu I’d love it if they gave Cody his b.MP straight from SFxT. That’d be dope as hell. Smaller hurtbox, bigger hitbox, 3F more active frames, and juggle on counterhit.
So how do you guys think the change to zonk (all versions now being FADCable will effect Cody’s game? Was this something you guys think will be useful?
It’s a fail safe for when you mess up your raw zonk, or got mis-placed c.hp xx zonk buffer.
@Richaud I’d say that it changes nothing basically. It’s really no point to fadc a zonk. In the first place, you should be using it to either break a focus or if an opponent is using a normal in a pattern that you recognize. If you use the zonk then, chances are that you will be at a distance where it’s pretty hard for any character to punish it. Plus, it’s safer to just do it than to FADC it if they don’t change his dash.
Cody needs lower start up and some more invincibility on EX criminal upper to aid wake up.
I don’t want lower start up for a few reasons, but more invincibility, yes please!
im not the best cody around but my opinion on cody buffs for 2013 should be like this.
he does not need inv on ex crim up, its already throw invincible and very difficult to punish, it has its use. Cody has bad wake up for a reason, hes not supposed to get knocked down (in fact he doesn’t respect fighters that go down that easy! lol win quotes). i think what he really needs is a way to better punish fireballs or a better walkspeed/buffs on his st mk or sweep.
bingo has awful range and is pretty awkward to use when compared to the rest of the casts options. EX ruffian is only goes through fireballs if done semi physic and to top this off his heavy bad stone is so piss poor its not even funny and it does very little chip damage, so he not going to zone or play an anti zone game very effectively (certain match ups aside). so he should be playing a footsie game maybe? well he just doesnt have the moves to play against the better footsie characters. st mk has a very bad hitbox, sweep is slow ,st hk is good but whiffs on crouchers and is slow as hell and crack kick is easy to avoid (just sweep it lol). All he has left is counter poking with cr lp or cr lk maybe mp - not really fun imo.
now inmo cody has the A A to beat any jump in, but he just doesnt have the footsie game to force people to jump. i honestly cant think of any char that i feel cody beats when hes stood up. Maybe just me but i feel like a stiting duck when playing against say cammy or fei (not a problem exclusive to cody i know).
anyway to sum up my rant i think cody needs a better hp bad stone, to help chip people when at range, and a better st mk or sweep.
Plus if they buff his sweep it’ll stop people from stand teching all day.
Anyway ive been debating this in my head like all day and i really dont think he needs a clutch get of me move, he needs to not be put in a situation where he needs one.

I’m starting to get slightly worried that Capcom really doesn’t know what Cody needs…
Personally, I think Cody is going to get screwed. We are buffing everyone up the ass that needs it and Cody’s only two announced buffs are far beyond underwhelming.
Zonk FADC will be useful for maximizing a FB punish or a untrue string special cancel, but that’s about it.
no hes still going to be terrible, al his good matchups are going to even out and all his bad matchups are going to get worse.
srsly after the patch we have no chance in hell vs good sim or chun. Fei might get better but i cant see akuma getting any easier just because of his movelist.
I mean, Zonk can already juggle into EX CU in the corner, so I’m sure with a FADC property, things like F+MP, MK Ruffian, etc. would work. I doubt they’ll make zonk FADC-able and not buff it’s juggles…
…still, it’s not a GREAT buff.
Only EX Zonk can juggle though. From the discussion I’ve had with Dawgtanian he didn’t even know that regular zonk couldn’t juggle.

You can juggle if you juggle with the zonk if that makes sense. Hk ruffian fadc zonk lets you juggle with ex crim or ultra 2 dust.
