what exactly is the timing on doing 5DD 4DD j2DD
What pace am I pressing the DD’s at? DD pause DD pause DD pause? I can only get the combo to come out when im mashing and changing stick direction… but obviously this doesnt come out 100%, i’d rather not mash and learn the timing
At what DD are you stuck at? You shouldn’t have any trouble doing 5DD, 4DD…after that, just do 82DD(or 72DD depending on your spacing). The 82(or 72) part should be done quick.
I’ve been meaning to ask, what is the viability of her qcb+D? Ribaia pretty much never uses it, while Inoue uses this ALOT…from what I saw, I think Inoue is a more solid player all around than Ribaia, despite Ribaia being called the best Nu in Japan.
So yeah, why doesn’t Ribaia use qcb+D? Also, why do I see so little usage of gravity well against Tager in high level play, wouldn’t that shut him down even moreso, making sledges even less of a threat?
Another thing…Nu can do some decent damage after landing a grounded burst. From my testing, she can land a free qcf+D~C(about 750 damage) on everyone besides Arakune and Carl. Against everyone else, she can RC that into a combo 2000 damage and against Rachel/Tager, she can dash up 5DD into air combo for about 2500-3000 damage.
I love qcb+D, it lands me so many combos, but i guess in higher level play people prefer 6DD? im not too sure, i dont watch many matches of high level play V-13 players.
EDIT:

Noob question time, what are my options when I’m backed into a corner? Usually I try to 2D > act pulsar out, burst out, or try to IAD. Which is the safest to use?
I really suggest watching some top level Nu players (since you said you didn’t). There are many places where your combos could use some serious optimization. Also, I don’t know why you’re push blocking (and then not punishing) the icecars, that is a free punish by Nu starting with 2C (except the qcb+A icecars)
What’s an act pulsar? That teleport/command dash? Why not just call it what it is?
I think you meant 2C into teleport, which does work out well. I’ve been using more dead angles(or whatever they are called in this game…f+AB during blockstun).
Sorry, I dunno why I used the name that time, I usually don’t. I completely forgot about the existence of that f+AB thing, thanks a lot. That should give me another choice of how to get out of the corner. Usually I play pretty well until they manage to get me into a corner then I die =(.
At 7:57, he is able to do a throw, dash forward, 2C, 6C. I’m unable to do that… what is the time window on dashing and then pressing 2C, 6C?

i’m using the dualshock 3, would it be easier on a fightstick?
j2DD 214D~C (you can also do 214C+D) j2DD
the j214D~C give you the fake j214D and cuts the recovery from the j2DD you can only do it once in the air the second time you’ll do it you will get the regular j214D
It doesn’t matter what you use for this combo, it’s irrelevant. Just make sure you start your dash as early as possible (preferably on the first frame upon being able to move) then 2C.
Keep in mind it works easier against some characters(Rachel) than it does on others
(Noel, Arakune).
As soon as Nu recovers from her throw animation press 66 and just 66 let her do a full dash and only then go for the 2C you got much more time than you think dont try to do 66~2C
Anyone know of effective ways to counter Tao’s drive spam?
I’ve been finding that 6A works well but requires some prediction at most distances. Also, what is the best combo I can do from a counterhit 6A? I’ve been doing 6A, 6C, 2DD, jDD, dj(2DD, qcb+D) and 6A, 2C, j(C, 2C), dj(C, 2C, qcb+D) but I’m sure there’s something better off 6A.
All the advance BnB can be done from 6A if you can get 6C also to connect
6A 6C dash 2DD 2147D dash 2B 2C(1 hit) jDD dj2DD dj214D
6A 6C dash 2DD n.jC j2C land 2DD n.j2C djDD dj214D
Question, what’s a good answer for Jin 5B frame trapping? I know i have to block a lot in this matchup but i swear it can beat out almost anything by just spamming 5B upclose a lot, I just green guard and pray or if i feel gutsy overhead super but backdashing and jump are just terrible answers.
Jin’s probably the only character who at high level gives me lots of problems. Random EX ice cars still catch me on occasion and if blocked just get RC’d. Feel i just have to sit have screen and do nothing that isn’t purely reactionary.
Tao 6B and D spam gave me a lot of problems at first and but experience is the biggest deal. Learn how each of the Drive moves work (trajectories) and counter with swords, 6A, or 2C problem with all this is Tao at high level can bait your 6A and 2C by doing D~B and punish you at some ranges she can go through swords and be at advantage but she can’t normally punish. This means you need to just block sometimes and try and punish the followups if she hops away or if she does D~B counter her as she lands. Tao is all about patience until you get a knockdown than you need to abuse as much non-sword rushdown and gravity well into sword lockdown as you can. This is most definately a 5/5 or maybe a 5.5/4.5 in nu’s favor.
6B is all about quick reaction and 2C believe me do a 50% combo off a 2C a couple times and you’ll see A LOT less 6B.

I’m the black Nu BTW ^^
Well one thing I noticed is that you were fishing a lot for the 2C, 6C counterhit combo and didn’t confirm if they blocked it, into some kind of mixup (2C->3C or 2C->TK overhead, etc). There were too many times when you just continued with the 6C after they blocked, resetting the situation which isn’t necessarily what you want to do in a Nu mirror where your opponent is already on the defense.
That said, I also need to work on confirming the 2C hit/counterhit/block but I’m getting better.
Yeah you’re right i only did a 2C blocked mix up once or twice and that was after a blocked super (i usuly go for alot more)
i’ll put more work on that thx ^^
any other stuff?
edit: 2 matches from an offline session me and my friends had on thursday:

Hey, I’m not much of a Nu player, but after messing around with her in training I was wondering if it’s possible to use her air-sickle faint to extend her air combo’s?
A la C.Viper?
It can extend her j. 2D block string as far as i know. Like j. 2DD > 214D~C >j. 2DD.
Mostly it’s just used for mixups with her 2C blockstrings. Tiger knee’d sickles are <3.
