Ernie: We ran some Tekken (and VF for that matter) at the last Ogden gathering. The interest is still there, but with SFIV being the new game out there, that’s where the focus is going to be at least for a little while. That being said, give the new blood here a chance. There’s a good crowd here. Good energy. Good spirit.
Alpharudy: He’s not playing around. He’s been Utah’s top player for years. He’s come to a lot of my tournaments over the years and has never done anything but win. If he returns to the community here, I guarantee you he is automatically the guy to beat. He just has a head for this genre the likes of which I’ve never seen before.
LOL. I just wish that more of ya’ll were on ggpo/2df more often, that’s one way of keepin a fighting game alive/trainin for evo. I just ain’t been the type to play just one game/series. I have always been someone to look foward to playin, I’m more humble now, so it’s harder to stir me up. & in a game such as sf4 which i’m willin to bet 5 bucks that all of you know way more than me (I was told yesterday, that to do the special lookin super, hold the used button down, fuckin really??). I just know how I am from an all-around standpoint, but in a game such as sf4, or one I’m not too familiar with, I’d be a threat due to my sf knowledge.

Hey I’m not saying this guy sucks or whatever i don’t know him i just feel like he is talking down the 30 people at the upcoming ranbat because we are focusing on the new fighting game…there isn’t going to be a new game for a few months and the community is just following the competition and the the competition is playing SF4. 3s, mvc2, cvs2, tekken etc are good games but there is not a 30 person turnout to play these games. Hey, when tekken 6 comes out we’ll maybe play. I know i want to play KOF and Blazblue but like i said the competition is focused on SF4 right now so that’s where everybody’s focus is at. Sorry if i sounded a little rude towards you manji but the posts sounded a little condescending…just a smidgen. We just like our new fangled Focus attacks and ultra’s.

- Maybe you are talking about rog after you execute ultra back forward back foward, then hold down kick for uppercuts. But you have no idea what you are talking about.
I hear you were really good at the CVS2 and MVC2 Ernie, however SF4 is a mix between 3S/ST but with a different kick, it’s fun.
But let’s be serious, all those games you play just don’t have the huge following SF4 which is where all the competition from amateur to pro is.
If you came, then that would be nice. Bring your 5 bucks, doubt you’ll top 3 b/c the top 5 here are mad legit but maybe you can have a good showing. Bring your own stick too if you have one. Hope you don’t use a pad b/c that’s laff. It’ll be fun.
You can lawl at SF4, but that’s where the great OG’s play: Valle, Jwong, Afro, Combofiend etc.

It sounds like you are talking about a focus attack, which is not a super. You charge it up by holding MP+MK and either release the buttons to attack or dash to cancel it. My description is probably bad, but it does add a lot to the gameplay.

Going to have to start playing SFIV and show up to ranbats/casuals for that to happen. We don’t really run any other games. A couple of us are excited for BlazBlue… And by a couple of us I mean exactly two people. I do hear there is a rather large, unbathed Smash community in the valley though.
The problem is playing the games everyone loves. The majority right now play SF. While many of us are willing to try other games. The hype right now is SF4. I don’t think even half the people that go to these ranbats would care to play tekken. Ultimately the point is we ALL want to play SF4. If you don’t. Well, I hate to bring the bad news, but thats what we’re doing right now. If you wanna be patient, we may play other games after this season of ranbats for SF4, but frankly, nobody has really complained that all we play is SF4 right now, besides you, and you haven’t even been to one of our ranbats.
Lots of people have talked about Blazblue. So that might start making appearances on release. But don’t count on Tekken. I’d say there are quite a few including the major host who is completely anti-tekken.

Dana and I are very into Tekken, I haven’t played it since T4 though. We were talking about bringing it to a gathering/casuals to play with others who were interested.

It is a SF4 ranbat. . .maybe you missed that. I thought it was pretty obvious. Tekken is done right now, when T6 comes out on console there will be a surge, as T5 is old as hell.
Tekken to me is mad shit. However it’s an opinion. But I don’t care if ppl play it but there’s really no scene for it right now. You can pick up T6 in NYC/CA but we don’t live there. You do understand this is shoryuken.com right? If you are really interested then you can pick up the game in October and play it at casuals at my house. But if you really want to look for a T5 scene go to http://www.tekkenzaibatsu.com/ maybe that’s what you need.
Or you can go to the CVS2, or 3S part of the forums and try to get ranbats going at your place. I’m sure all 5 ppl will show up. But as far as these ranbat’s they are for SF4, not b/c hate of other games. . .b/c
- There’s no scene for the other games like there is for SF4 in Utah not even the Smash community has gotten as big as us and that’s actually saying alot since there scene is huge.
- If you can get 21 ppl to show up for Tekken 5 then get hype and start one.
