I’ll probably end up going to EVO. But I’m counting on my business picking up just a little bit.
On a side note…
Would anyone see a benefit for UTSF to have its own website or blog? I was thinking that it could be something a little more “official” for tourney info, meets, etc. At the very least, it would be good to have up for people who want an instant update as opposed to sifting through all of our other bullshit posts. I was also thinking that it could be a good place to host videos (once Andy gets his setup going).
I dunno… I have hookups on super-cheap servers and dotcoms, with enough experience to throw it all together in a matter of minutes.
@Catalyst, not many of the new(old) players know you…and I’m not rooming with someone that I’ve never met (assuming I am going). Show up, play, make yourself known to all the new cats around.
@Andy, I may be able to stop by Wednesday night after school to check out the hauppauge, I’ll let you know. You’re a doctor, crack that box open and set it up to see if your laptop can handle the footage.
@Kyle, that’s a great idea. We could do player profiles/pics (not mine, I’m teh shadow! lol). Dana is thinking about interviews. Just a simple blog site with our “soon-to-be” vids on YouTube.
@Kyle, homie, I was thinking the same thing last night. We already have a facebook thingie but no one really checks that out. Actually, that facebook is really helpful into linking ppl there to here on SRK. Good job jacob. However, I think like a blogspot website would be nice. If Dana wants, then we could have him do the updating similiar to this website: http://arizonaranbats.blogspot.com/

Yeah, that’s why I said he should make an effort to stop by and meet people. I’m too sexy and I understand If I put myself in that postion something horrible might happen while I’m sleeping. Being so sexy is hard sometimes =/
And yeah, a website where we can keep people updated on the ranbats with a video archive would be nice.
I’m going to order one or two 1TB HDDs in the next few days. Only problem is I can’t seem to find the external enclosure I want (it was just released) anywhere right now. Guess I’ll just order something to get us by until then.
Alright, guys. I’ll get a quick site/blog put together tonight. After I get it all setup and user-friendly, I’ll assign usernames and passwords to the few that I think would be interested in updating it from time-to-time. I’d say that there would need to be at least three admins, and I know that Dana would want in on it.
Seriously, do it. You’re not going to step on my toes or anything. I mean, I would have done it already, but I’m not familiar enough with blogs to make it not look like some GeoCities or AngelFire page. I could still do the writing and just send it to you to put in the blog or something. PM me and we can hash it out.
Okay, I put a quick blog together tonight. It isn’t anything special, but it will at least serve as an official “hub” for the UTSF scene. It will be updated on the regular, so if you have newsworthy info that needs to be posted (tourneys, gatherings, etc.), notify Dana or myself so that we can make sure it gets up there.
Andy and Jacob, since you guys have regular meets, I’d like to add you both as authors. PM me with your email addresses and I’ll send over your permissions.
Anyone is welcome to contribute information to the site. I just want to make sure that anything relevant to UTSF is noted on the blog in some form or fashion (like the facebook page, the forums here, etc.). I’m sure that there is quite a bit to be added to the “hub”. I plan on getting one of you guys cough ANDY cough to set up a YouTube channel so that we can incorporate that into the site as well. Also want to make sure that a current player roster gets up there somehow, too. That should cover the basics.
@Zach, thought you were a tourney dodging little bitch, guess not. We would love to see your Blanka at the next ranbat, nobody chooses that character.
On a side note, EVO less than 3 months away. I would not hesistate to start making plans now; we’ll all talk in the upcoming ranbats about details and shit.
Okay, if things stay as they are right now and there are no takers for roommates, I’ve got a couple contingency plans for that now. Of course, if things change and there eventually are Utah players willing to room up, so much the better. Dana/Bleyls/Wall/etc can vouch for my character if I can’t make ranbats (and my ability to get to those rests on Gallows). The important thing is that I’m no longer totally screwed in the event that doesn’t happen.
All I ask now is that someone cut me in on their carpool. I’ll get as far as Layton or Salt Lake or whatever the fuck, obviously, but getting to Vegas is up in the air, so anyone who can give me a hand with that is much appreciated.
