Quick question for you guys:
Looking to get either a 360 or PS3 tonight, pretty much just to play SFIV. Can you give me some input on which platform you use and why you prefer it?
PS: I want in on some of these meets.
Well, you know the differences between the consoles overall, I assume. Just got my 360 back from Texas today. It’s been so long that everyone is better than I am now : (
More people play on the 360, especially in this group. PS3s are what are used at EVO and Devastation.
Luxun and Hadouken have both systems, so when you come to the meets it doesn’t matter what pad or stick or whatever you bring–there are enough sticks and such.

Ok man. Do you have a BIG screen HDTV? If so, remember PS3 has blu ray capabilities if that means something to you. Like for watching movies and so forth. . .however it’s more spendy.
The majority of this core group uses XBOX 360, so you won’t find us online to play games however. . .Kelly (konqrr) and coldshadow (brian) both play on the PS3.
EVO is on the PS3 but who the hell cares, you can borrow someone’s stick for the tourney.
At our get togethers, we always have both systems.

Nathan does not have a PS3, but he has 4000 Gamecubes/Wii it seems.
I would go X360 if you don’t mind paying for Live. XBL blows away PSN. As for PS3… The Blu-Ray player is nice. And ummm, Killzone is fun.
Scored a 360 tonight on the cheap! First time playing SFIV and I’m already addicted. I am surprised at how different it feels to play it over SFIII and II! I definitely need to get a stick though. I have a halfway decent Tekken 5 stick for PS2. I think I read somewhere that I can get an adaptor? (haha, I’m way out of the loop on console gaming)
Yeah, but I keep it in a different room from where I play games. I play games in my office on a smaller LCD. It’s fine, but I really want to piece together some kind of showcase cabinet to house my consoles and complement the uprights in my basement. Do any of you guys build cabs and/or sticks?

What kind of 360 do you have? Hope you got one with a harddrive and smart selection I would’ve gotten a 360 also.
SF4 is fun. There is no PS2 to 360 adapter. . .trust me.
As far as 360 sticks go, depending on your price range and where you want to start. There’s a few options:

HORI EX2 stick (very basic NO sanwa parts, very light): if you just want to learn to play on a stick or don’t have the cash, get this one. It’s actually ok to use. I just don’t like the light weight. And give it a few months, it’ll break. . …ask the ducklings they beat the shit out of it.

HRAP EX stick (Sanwa stick, cheap buttons): great stick, you can replace the buttons with real sanwa buttons for like 10 bucks. However, still hard to find at the real price of 129.99. Most ppl selling it for 250 on ebay I think.

MadCatz Standard Edition fightstick (NO sanwa parts): sturdy weight, better than Hori EX2.
Pretty damn hard to find, on ebay 150 bucks (original price is 79.99). You can switch out both the stick/buttons for like 30 bucks though very easily. ACTUALLY, you pretty much have to mod this stick or it will break. But a great stick after modded. -
MadCatz Tournament Edition fight stick (sanwa stick and sanwa buttons): very nice, good weight. Hard to fucking find. Original price 149.99, on Ebay for like 350 bucks.
Hopefully in April, MadCatz will restock their line of sticks b/c there is a crazy ass demand now. I would buy a standard edition stick then and mod it dude.
However, if you can’t wait and just want any stick and don’t give a shit. Get an Hori EX2.
HRAP EX won’t be instock until July unless you go the Ebay route.
LAST OPTION, Custom build. They are great, takes a shit long time for someone to build you one. Check out the trade outlet forums, sometimes you will be lucky.

GGs Utahsbowser, that’s one sick Blanka you got there…I need to learn that matchup.
The EX2 holds up well depending on how you treat it. My DOA4 model and the plain one I picked up around the time of VF5 are both still running great to this day.
The thing with Japanese sticks is, they’re built for performance, not durability. You can’t beat the shit out of them and have them last, gotta reel yourself in quite a bit.
But in the long run, that’s good for your game, too.

Just remember the Sanwa sticks/buttons are wayyy better and reliable than stock HORI sticks/buttons.

Smash will be earlier in the day, but almost all of the non-SF4 players will be gone by the time SF4 starts. If any are left, it would be a max of 1 CRT TV for each of the 2 games. I’m predicting only 1, though. SF4 will get my LCD for sure
You can try using a 2nd chair to put your stick on. I have a lot. If you don’t like the chairs, I might be able to figure something out. Most of my tables are already being used to hold the TVs…
And yes, Utahsbowser does have every character unlocked.
I have Marvel emu on my PC, which means USB/PS2 sticks would work =D

Right now, it looks like we will have my 360, Utahsbowser’s PS3, and Andy’s PS3. TVs: with Andy’s LCD it’s a total of 2 LCDs and 2 (maybe 3) CRTs.
So far, these people have said they would be coming: me, dylan, coldshadow, coldviper, Dash, Hadouken, Konqrr, Matty, Utahsbowser, Connor. Several more maybes too of course.

This is what I’m thinking, you have that table behind your sofa that has a TV, and another table down there with some random TV on it. Take TV’s off the tables, place them on the ground.
Take the two tables place them close to each other. Place my LCD monitor and maybe another CRT on one table, and we’ll sit beind the OTHER table with our sticks on it.
Do you have any chairs? If so I can bring some, please just txt me.
Sorry to be so picky. But I’m a short guy and was hunched over last time playing SF4 while sitting on the chair with my stick on the chair. If you are a tall guy, then your back will be sore afterwards.

I’m definitely looking forward to tonight. It’s crazy…I’ve been playing offline matches with you guys the last couple weeks and this week I try to go online and play, I get owned by Flowchart Ken’s and complete scrubs. The slight delay messes with my timing greatly, I’m getting too used to offline play!
I think that Blanka is the hardest character for me to fight. Having Boxer as my main doesn’t help as it is an 8-2 matchup for Blanka according to the latest tier listing (and I can see why). Most of Boxer’s B&B combos will whiff and he is just hard to hit anyways.
