Hey, Utah people. I’m pretty new to the area (I know zero players here), and am a slightly-more-than-casual Street Fighter player looking for some competition even though I’m really not that good of a player.
I live in Layton, have an upright SFIII: SI cabinet as well as a SSFII upright. Of course, I have the usual shit on PS2 - Anniversary and Alpha Anthology. Haven’t played SFIV yet, as I have blown my money on the uprights instead of buying a newgen gaming system.
Let me know if you guys need another competitor.

Thanks for posting! Most of the things we’re doing right now are with SF4, but a lot of the guys still love 3rd Strike, and I still on occasion play ST (mostly HDRemix, but it’s good to go back sometimes.)
Having actual arcade cabinets is pretty tight, btw. I’ve always wanted one myself.
Layton…you are to Salt Lake like Provo is to Salt Lake, just north, right? Most of the guys here are in the SLC area, with myself and a few others from Utah Valley, and even some from Tooele and Logan. We’re trying to make the SLC area the main hub of activity, and there’s usually weekly gatherings at someone’s house in the SLC area (Hadouken or LordLuxun) and occasionally down here in Orem at uglyduckling’s house.

The game’s really balanced though.
a quick update as Andy said the tournament was canceled on tues due to the gas leak up at the U.
Good News that means 1 more week to get some practice In. SLCC event will now serve as the 1st event and the Event in the Mall will be the 2nd event. The U will still be running a event around mid april this should be good practice between the mini tournaments our 3 events for a good representation of Utah at EVO.
All our things are still packed up so we can bring some things to this mini tournament on Sat. How many ps3’s are there going to be I have an adapter that allows 360 controllers to be played on ps3 and want to test if they good enough they work well with FPS’s and I’ve read some reviews on srk about em they would allow for some dream match ups of the ps3 owners vs the 360 stick owners.

Hey that adapter that goes from 360 to ps3 (xcm cross battle adapter) has been reviewed by MarkMan (the authority on adapters). Seems although it does not lag, it DROPS inputs. So I would really not risk using this adapter in a major tourney if it has DROPPED inputs.
Thanks for the updates on tournaments. Should be really fun. Between all the Utah players we have a good amount of sticks for the xbox and ps3.

Yeah, yeah, the lower tiers can win, and tier lists don’t mean anything…it’s all in how you play your character and how you play your opponent. That’s true to a point. I see tier lists as how many tools are in that characters toolbox and the effectiveness of those tools. I’m pretty convinced that Rufus has a few more wrenches in his box than Cammy, and after watching Andy’s Chun last week, I think that her kit is stocked with more than anyone that I use.
Not a complaint, just an observation.
I haven’t noticed any dropped inputs using mine. Only thing is that every once in a while it just stops working and accepts no inputs at all. You have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it working again. Doesn’t happen too often, but it would definitely stop it from being tourny worthy. I read the new version that supports rumble fixes this issue. I’ve used it a ton with Killzone2 and it is excellent otherwise. Didn’t notice any issues in HDR besides that either.
Andy should just make his TE stick a hybrid. Get a Cthulhu board.

Question do you have any small LCD monitors? I’m bringing a 26" LCD monitor on Saturday, Lordluxun has a really big LCD. He has a bunch of CRT’s I dont mind playing on, however I still prefer LCD’s. If you could bring some then that would be nice.
