Yeah, I really screwed up with Sakura. I kinda got pressured and I didn’t know what to do. Plus her anti-air isn’t has good as others so it was hard to punish your jump ins.
I love some of our matchups that day. Your Balrog threw me off. He was really difficult to face against along with your Blanka.
EDIT: Etelmik, when you asked about cancelling EXs I gave you the wrong answer. I didn’t understand what you were asking at the time. You can cancel any move, even if it’s not an EX with with a FADC. Just do a move and quickly press the focus attack buttons. You’ll quickly cancel into you FA, then just dash out of it. I think it takes 2 bars out of your super in order to cancel it.
You too. Can’t wait to face you again.
Hey! Utah scene back in action? Wow…it’s been a loooong time. Thanks to Dana for PMing me the info for this thread. I’ve been stuck in retarded MK land waiting for SFIV to hit and now I’m hype!
I’ve been all around Utah playing SF/MK/Tekken for as long as I can remember. Last time I played local gaming outside my house was at Dana’s house years ago, that was good times.
I hope to be a part of your guys’ future get togethers.
I have a 360 and a PS3. I currently use a Fighting Stick 3 for the PS3 on SFIV and will be getting a dual console Arcade In A Box stick very soon. There is NO way that I’m using a 360 d-pad for any fighting game though, no way in hell.
For SFIV, I am primarily a Guile player. But I dabble with shotos and Gief/Honda as well.
My PSN/360 nicks are one and the same…Konqrr.
EDIT: I play HDR, MKDC, MKII on PS3 and UMK3 on 360. I don’t play DRO (PS3) or 3s (XBOX), but I own them and will play them too even though I suck.
Guess what guys?
My Fight Stick isn’t working properly. 2 buttons gave out midway. It began to work again when I plugged it back in.
I’m going to return it tomorrow. I’m not even going to exchange it, I want my money back.
Can anyone build a custom stick for me? I’ll pay, of course.
Does this article have anything to do with your problem Dash’?
Go here for the thread on it and what MadCatz said in response to the problem:
No, that’s not my problem.
I know I could have it repaired by Mad Catz, but I don’t want to wait for them to repair it. Who knows, it could break again.
Konqrr…dude. YES! I’m glad that you’re back. I’m guessing that you never left, though.
Guys, this is quality people right here. He used to play up at Trolley Square when they had a scene…early 2000’s? Late 90’s? Anyway, when I got active with Tekken, he’d travel from Tooele to be a part of things. Good, good times.
Konqrr, keep up with the forums to see when the get-togethers are…they usually happen 1-2 times a week, mostly due to the hospitality of LordLuxun, hadouken82, and uglyduckling in Sandy, SLC, and Orem, respectively.

Dash,
Sorry about your stick, you should return bogth pad and stick and get your 120.00 bucks back man and go get a HRAP EX, although they just jacked up the price. I might actually be able to get you a good deal. Call me later.
had
Okay.
I gotta at least keep the pad for now. Without it, all I’ll have left is the standard 360 controller. No way I’m going to use that.
I guess I’ll at least trade in the Chun Pad for a Pad with one of the Shotos.
Yo sell both those, get 120 bucks back. I’ll let you use my Ken pad until you by yourself a stick. That 40 bucks is a waste on that chun pad.

Possible Provo Tournament Location
I’ve checked out the Provo Library at Academy Square (or words to that effect). The Bleyls need to check it out with me, but I think it shows great promise. Here’s some of the info. The rooom that I saw was room 201; you can see pictures if you use the link.
If I rent the room, because I’m a Provo resident, it’s 15% off…so $60 would be $51 instead. And so on. There is a $45 security deposit. No alcohol, no fire. I thought that it was funny that the lady made sure to mention this, but whatever. It’s located near the heart of Provo, easy to find from the freeway, good parking, next to a 7-11 for soda and junk food runs, and the room has one entrance/exit with…2 windows? I think that’s how many it had.
As far as equipment goes, it’s free to use on a first-come, first-serve basis. This includes TV’s, DVD/VCR’s (if we wanted to go OG and record matches on tape) projectors, tables, and chairs (which they set up and take down). The TV’s don’t have component inputs, just composite, A/V, and some S-video, so that would be good for older systems like PS2’s and Xboxes. We would probably need to bring some TV’s with component or HDMI input; I’d probably bring mine. I believe that there will be internet service in the room as well, if we wanted to gang up on some no0bs online. Not to mention, we can bring in our own food, and the room I looked at had a sink and counter area.
The lady with whom I spoke, one of the event coordinators, and she said that someone had held a video game party before, with projectors and TV’s for Halo, DDR, and Smash. Well, maybe it’s time for some SF!
So, what does everyone think? Get-together in Provo? TOURNAMENT in provo? Let us know!
Wuzzup guys,
Sounds good Dana. Guys I got another TV, 26 inch like Samsung LCD. Looks sweet, had my ps3 hooked up. Very good for gaming, set it on the dining table, looks nice.
Hope everyone has been practicing, getting better. I’m still looking for someone to Main, will decide by the end of the week.
Might stop by the Gamestop on Saturday to support Dana and Chase
had
A Provo tournament sounds awesome. If we had to choose one day, Friday would be easier for me. Saturday too, but sometimes I have plans on Saturdays.
Kinda sad, been playing SF4 on my one day a week off and kinda ditching my friends out. At least I got two LCD TV’s now we can play on so less ppl have to wait. We should make a bracket some time to get the competition going. Would like to see an 8 ppl turnout.
had
Cool. We’re going to try and check it out again today. We’ll do a more thorough inspection of the equipment and we’ll report back. Fri/Sat would work better for me as well.
Hadouken…2 TV’s. You’re too kind. And a tournament (single elim or double elim?) at your place would ROCK. Paper, whiteboard, or computer for brackets? There is tournament software but I’ve never used it. We could always just draw our own; kinda that old-timey “graph-paper map” feel, and I miss that sometimes. Besides that, there’s nothing like the tournament pressure to really get the peak performance, right? And having you there at Round 2 would be cool. Nothing like friends around to take off the edge (just don’t take the edge off of Chase if we’re playing each other! )
I’m still nervous for Round 2. Been practicing my Guile: combos, antiair, focus attacks, FADC’s, crossups, and matchups. We’ll just have to see how it goes.
I can draw up some brackets really easy if that’s a concern. I actually have the template saved on my computer.
A tournament sounds like a lot of fun. What games would be included though? I mean, you saw that I am crap at SF4. I’d like to play in some games that I actually have played before.
SF4
SFHD
Tekken… Tag?
Marvel (if anyone has it)
I also have CVS2 although I’m not sure people play that.
Or would we be just playing SF4 and ST?
Jizz,
Think most of us will be playing SF4/3S, some of the guys will dabble in CVS2, MVC2, and 3S. But as far as I’m concerned, I’m focused on SF4 right now. You need to start practicing man and join us some time.
had
i can feel it coming over me
LOL You’re not crap at SF4. Everyone needs practice; that’s all.
Konqrr and myself played Tag quite a bit, and admittedly it’s still one of my favorite games, but the primary focus of most people in this group is SF. If people are down for having a get-together/tournament at Provo Library, I’d be all for playing some casual Tag. Ugly’s bro and myself play CvS2 a bit, and Dash plays Marvel. Konqrr might entice a few to play MK…who knows.
See, this kind of thing would be good for a large-scale gathering. Strong focus (tournament) on what’s current (SF4, HDRemix, 3S) and some face time for other games (Tekken, Marvel, CvS2, VF?), like how Evo is run, only on a MUCH smaller scale. Other people manage the casual play for the fringe games, while the organizers target the heavy-hitters. It’s can be good to be exposed to other games; sometimes you can take away strats, ideas, etc.
I don’t really know what everyone plays, but that seems sensible. Go with what got you there, ya know. What does everyone think?
