Anyone have opinions on Seth? I feel like he was over nerfed and lost almost everything that made him unique as a character. He doesn’t even have good footsies to fall back on like Akuma.

That whole chain of tweets by Sanford is actually pretty cool in some way. Not sure how to explain it.
I just chose the latest post pertaining to oni to post, latest reply after that on july 31st still pertains to oni. That post during august might be about himself as a player in relation to oni or ken.
But really like i pointed out in the last post it doesnt really affect us casual players who the pros use or dont use. it affects us as viewers but thats it. If every pro decided to use dan it wouldnt effect us at all.
But it is their perogative to use stronger characters if they are sponsored and feel like the characters they are currently using are that much of a liability in tournaments.
Never mentioned about posting, though at that point as I said I was still going to buy Ultra but not at full price…maybe a steam sale. After the console patch drop I set to boycott Ultra regardless of price.
In the end Sanford is dropping Oni for Ken though. Yeah he could be emotional, though he has been playing Oni since vanilla. If Oni only got slightly (to the point of near insignificance according to you Eternal), why would Wao and Sanford drop the character? Do they just need to hit training mode more?

Touche, on the Sanford part (nothing really positive in Wao’s words). However the end result is the same, the 2 best Oni players have dropped the character. A character with footsies equal to Fei Long, a superb mix up game, great damage, good walkspeed, ability to alter his jump arc, great shoto tools in addition to his own unique ones and virtually no weaknesses.
One of the biggest reason Wao dropped oni was not about him being weaker or anything he hated that they made his srk fadc on block, which was the main reason he played oni in the first place, as not being able to fadc srk was what set him apart from the other shotos, he decided before ultra was release he was going to drop Oni, he was supose to play decapre but that didn’t end up as well as he thought.
Poison is considered by alot of top JP players as a top 10 character something i agree with she beats or fights evenly with top tier characters besides Yun.
I don’t know why people still subject themselves to arguing with someone who only reads what he wants to read.
Edit: lol @ your WTF. Noone ever said that Oni has footsies comparable to Fei Long’s, they said he can compete vs his footsies, which is true. He does have great damage, noone ever said shit about his walkspeed, good shoto tools ARE good in this game, and his mixup game is still above average, all things considered. You always only read whatever it is that you want to read to make yourself a martyr or whatever.

Again Wao’s words are for all to see, unless you know him personally and got to talk to him. He played Oni all through arcade release Ultra though he felt Oni was relatively weaker…and he earlier was excited about the FADC on block (even though many Oni players weren’t big on that idea). He also felt the damage and stun nerf was a big deal…however he said he would stick it out. Until the console release. He has moved to Evil Ryu ever since.
Not anymore, set blufang to ignore. Hope he does the same for me so we can stop this nonsense. At least boxinsteve admits part of it is his definition of “bad” is different than anyone elses and has made a few decent points. At this juncture blufang is just stirring up shit to start fights / directly attack people.

Hmm just looking at it from a financial perspective, if you recently dropped from emp and got sponsored by steam(sanford), or got sponsored by twitch(wao), both big big companies, and it is pretty much your job now to have good tournament showings, why would you stick with oni when there are 2 other shotos who play the same in a lot of aspects and are just all around more solid then oni? shrugs make of that what you will. If omh ever got sponsored by a big company to fly out to majors and place well I wonder how long hed stick with oni too. He has all the fundamentals to do better with evil ryu imo.
The day after that last post he replied that he would be maining ken not oni you are correct sanford is known for being emotional and wishy washy, look at the stick break thing. Again it doesnt matter who he ends up using to us casuals, as a viewer if he plays ken at the next major id be sad cuz I dont main ken but thats it, if he uses oni the whole way then great I can watch and see if he upped his play any and I could learn from him. Either way I wish him the best.
Personally I think his Ken is better anyway, even when he was maining Oni I always felt his Oni wasn’t on the same fundamentals level as Chris Hu. While his Ken was much stronger.
I’ve spoken to him personally and he was never happy with them giving him fadc srk on block, that was the main thing that put him off the character.
Odd he’d switch to Evil Ryu who has always had FADC on block :P. Of course he loves big damage and ERyu got that in spades.
