Funny thing about Deejay is that arcade ultra he was actually playable( I played him at final round location tests) still bad but at least had some uses, next change list was all nerfs, now hes pure ass. in my opinion capcom expected DWU to shift the balance of the game a little more towards the more zoning oriented character and it backfired, and now we get characters that didnt get the buffs they really needed.
Ultra top tier are no where near AE2012 top tier in term of power and options, they are barely slightly more powerful than the rest of the cast because of raw damage output capability , i still prefer a couples of op character like in AE rather than this boring fest of DWU and buffed crappy designed characters ( the low tiers that everyone cry about )
enjoy you’re balanced game based on all of the low tier/grappler hypster crying , and about Yun, even if he’s not nerfed , i dont see anyone win with anything beside Kazunoko, he couldnt even defeat Momochi Ken, let alone if he faced Daigo E.ryu or Sako ibuki
Yes indeed the DP FADC was a huge nerf but had to be done. Playing against Ryu or Sagat is bit easier given that free mixups is gone. They are even more susceptible to baits or throws as that free get of jail card is gone. Glad for it though. Sad they didnt get the buffs to compensate.
All they had to do was nerf reversal DP, not regular DP FADC. DP FADC “mixup” wasn’t that strong anyway, and it would have been even weaker in this version because of DWU. Look at Daigo’s comments - no need to tech in this game, just crouch block forever. Obviously that’s an exaggeration, but the gist of it is true.
I think hit confirm dps were retarded quite frankly, I think you have to commit to it. But at the same time Ken gets to keep his hit confirm dp, Momochi at CEO did fadc backdash numerous of times without getting punished.
Yep and it’s still a guessing game because he could hold it and release it for a free crumple. Then you have to think within 12 frames if he’s -7 or -5 so some Ultras are completely out of the question. Both hits being -5 or one being -5 and -7 makes little difference unless you’re mashing a Light or Medium attack
I kind of wish that all non-EX DPs had simply gotten the (former) Oni treatment; no FADC on block. You don’t get a mixup, you don’t get pressure, you get to eat a full punish combo. Then you actually rework characters around that as a core change rather than a throwaway nerf.
Again Daigo said eryu was weak in 2012. Gen and Hakan cant compete. This group put Sim in B tier. And they are selling Vega and Dudley being better off than Ryu. Akuma is not top 10, etc.
Ryu is fine. I’ll give the Ryu army that he’s comparatively weaker by virtue of bad match up buffs. But honestly its debatable between B and C tiers for who falls where.
Not gonna buy into Ryu is weak. Openly weep for the fallen shoto. Whatever. Daigo is the best player on the planet. He is no prophet
I thought the main point of USF4 was to balance the game, i.e., to nerf blatantly OP characters like Cammy/Viper and to buff the non-tourney viable characters. And yet the same old names are at the top of the tier list…
This is it right here. I was a big fan of this suggestion and it was the most sensible option.
I don’t know why people complain about Dp’s in this game when they are garbage at their primary purpose. I got my Tiger Uppercut (late) stuffed clean 3 times yesterday by move’s like Evil Ryu’s jump in Heavy. That shit should never happen.
They want to nerf the FADC then they sure as shit better make sure that if you jump then I win.
No one complains about the antiair purpose, otherwise moves like Soul Throw, Guacamole Legs or Backbreaker would be equally hated. All the other aspects of Dp’s are the issue: antimeaty, antithrow, antisweep, antifake blockstrings (the majority of the strings), etc. Add the facts that the only reliable counter -the safejump- has been neutered and for most cases DPs can still be cancelled into safety and then it’s obvious why people dislike SRKs.
I dunno, people bitch about those moves and Abel’s falling sky causing 0 damage trades pretty often. Though these are the people playing those characters complaining rather than their opponents complaining. I know for a fact that I and most Cody players (not all) find his HK Ruffian kick to be pretty lack luster at best.
It’s more than the people who complain the most are the ones who have to fight the DP tool. Because they far out number the people who have to deal with having bad/mediocre specials designed for anti airing.
That said, I do see some people bitching about Makoto’s LP Fukiage which has no invincibility and can’t hit grounded opponents at all but has an amazing hitbox, good startup, and leads to a ton of damage on hit and people want to be able to jump in whenever they want. MOST people don’t like playing grounded footsies in SF4, even at high level. That is why “Yun players complained they had a hard time getting in” and why even after a huge walk speed buff you STILL see even some GOOD Guy players doing full screen bushin flips to get in.
The real issue is/was/always will be the huge reversal window. Nobody really cared about DP’s in previous games. It’s the fact that you can mash the shit out of it now and that is effective. Make reversal windows tight again and you would never need to nerfs dp’s or any other reversals special.
Same here, though I kept my mouth shut. He’s a nightmare character who hasn’t changed one bit and in Ultra he has only got better. Its incredible to me that people bought into the bullshit that he was useless in 2012.
I noticed his use is on the rise again in Ultra and like in AE and 2012, he saps the fun out of the game when you have to both play against and watch the character. Kinda like Abel, or Viper, or Fuerte or Ibuki.
Speaking of shit that is hilarious, I bore witness to a Viper vs Fuerte match last night. Goddamn. If you want an inside look at what Capcom’s “designers” can produce, watch that unholy matchup unfold. Hoo.
Lol @ thinking that the best Ryu on Earth doesnt know his own character. And these are some of the best players in the world. Even if their tier list is not entirely accurate it still shows what their impressions of the game are. The majority of the chars in this game just plain suck. Ryu is only “fine” because he is just as weak and boring as the majority.
